  1. Can't argue with that..
  2. Perfect, i was gonna start construction on something similar, but now im off to Ikea to get three of those.[].
  3. Hi Canyonman, a bit of quick research shows a price around $500, what were your thoughts on price. I could be interested, and would like first refusal....John.
  4. Congrats Bill, keep that vinyl spinning, 90% of my listening is them big black shiny disc's. i do'nt get into the digital /analogue debate, but i guess you can tell which way i lean? I'm not sure if it was one of your previous post's, but i did give a recommendation regarding replacement stylus. Edsaunders sells a replacement for the v15III on-line for $45, i know that seems ridiculously cheap, but i took a chance on one on Ebay, i could'nt be happier. I sometimes wonder if my ears are as critical as some other forum members, so maybe my judgement should be taken with a pinch of salt (or whatever else you might want to pinch) any way enjoy, happy 4th to you....John. P,s Enjoying the the heck out of them RB5's, there on the deck for the long week-end along with the servo 15. My neighbours hate me!!![]
  5. Very simple question, is there as much differing opinion regarding the re-wiring of a tone arm, as there is about speaker cables?. Man!! the cost to re-wire a Rega arm can be more than i paid for it. I bought my RB300 with it needing new wiring only from the base, ie RCA's and cable, can i happily get away with generic cable? thanks as always, and happy 4th to my southern neighbours, do'nt party to hard...John
  6. Whell, I must agree with you, since this post started i have hooked up my KG4's and compared them to my RB5's. They are quite a different speaker, each of them have their points. But the RB5 wins out on its overall presentation, nicely detailed, and of course their size makes it much easier to place in the optimum position when on stands. But they do give up some low end to the KG. Sorry Silversport that this was'nt the exact comparison you were looking for.. John..
  7. Hi steve, and welcome. klipsch i believe has their own online store, at least i have seen them selling on eBay. I'm sure you would find that one of their Rb series would meet your requirements for surrounds and their RSW12 sub is a fine subwoofer. I am sure others will chip in with more advice, enjoy the forum there is lots of good advice to be had. John...
  8. You mean to tell me that i just wasted the best part of 2 hours trying to solve an anagram that was'nt even a real word.[]
  9. Mr EAR, Usually my pride of being Canadian is unassailable, but you are really whittling away at it's foundation. Unless i have missed something you were the first to hurl the insults. Do you really think you are doing this forum any justice, especially after accusing me of being immature.!!
  10. Mr Ear, While i respect your knowledge of everything below 50Hz, i don't think that you are in a position to judge my maturity or lack of it. You on the other hand have posted enough that a consensus could possibly be drawn. My comment was light hearted and possibly valid. I sincerely hope i have written this in a concise enough manner for you to understand. John. Ps. I'm still confused as to whether you and Woofer are one and the same. Simply curious.
  11. Hey WOOFER, be careful you could hurt yourself if you were to fall from that soap-box..
  12. Well, after all my whining about the slow progress Fedex was making the RB5's turned up today. Totally un-damaged, totally mint, and totally mine. First impressions, just as nicely put together as my RF5's, cherry finish is a tad lighter, but really only noticeable side by side. Had a quick listening session on my back deck system NAD 7150, Denon 1520 c/d player, Rega Planar 2, Shure V15III. Clean, detailed, seem to have plenty of low end (for my taste). They play loud and and so far they do seem to be very similar to the RF5, i guess thats what makes them KLIPSCH. So!!.. Sound good, look good, gotta be ...KLIPSCH what else !!!!!
  13. Duke spinner you really do have a way with words, (word}
  14. Save your money, i,ve gone through this journey. Radio shack has what you need for a whole lot less $$$$... If your concerned about looks spend as much as you can, if not hide it under the carpet....John
  15. Well i sure wish Fed-ex trucks moved half as quick as the stock cars they sponsor. The speakers have managed to move approx 300 miles in 10 days. Or maybe this tracking stuff is just a crock of $*/T. Hey i'm really looking forward to getting them here, and this slow progress is actually getting to be funnny. [] NOT!!
  16. Tigerwood, the movie soundtrack would be "more", I'm glad i did'nt fogtet it....John

  18. Silversport, YOUR ears will tell you all you need to know. Enjoy the music..
  19. Congrats Silversport, if you need a new or spare stylus i can recommend eBay seller "edsaunders" i bought one of his stylii, and after two months of critical listening against a like new original, i can't discern any difference. I did an album by album review for a few days, and then used them each for a week at a time, no difference. Under the microcope i could see no difference between the two. If memory serves me well i paid $49 ...John.
  20. Hi again silversport, i can't comment on the V15 against other higher end cartridges, but i can give you my impression of it against some of the more generic offerings. I am using a V15 III on my rega planar 2 and i was knocked out by it from the get go. The only thing that was any where near comparable was the equally venerable Stanton 681 EEE, im sorry that i can't give you a critical analysis. I just know that the the difference from more humble offerings was obvious, not only to me but to my less critical wife. I now also have the same on my Technics SL-Q303, and this really was a transformation from the Audio Technica A/T 110E that was on it, apparently this cartridge is no slouch either. I can't imagine you being dissapointed with the V15 III in particular, but as for the rest of the lineage i can"t comment.
  21. ]pauln, i surely was'nt trying to disparage you, some of your comments i absolutely agree with . It takes a lot of work to sort through the dross that has been offered up as music, and that is especially rellevant today. But the journey is well worth the effort. And i certainly agree with your comments on Brahms Violin Concerto. I am 55 years old and refuse to get stuck in the rut, i listen to and enjoy "stuff" that even makes my sons eyebrows raise. Hell, i've even started to enjoy some forms of RAP!!! How can you ignore it when artist's you have grown up listening to have embraced the genre. Nuff said.[]
  22. Thanks edwin, my thoughts exactly, but they were only thoughts. I basicly plug and play, but lately i"ve been putting a little more effort into my T/T set up. I would guess by the lack of response to this question that either:: it was a pretty dumb question, or (and i doubt this) i had stumped some of the more knowledgable members. But hey, i'm gonna pick out the nicest lookin' one for now, and if it looks pretty with that nice alluminium on the cartridge then that seem's like problem solved. I mean most of the times it's about asthetics, "if it looks good it must sound good".
  23. pauln, you need to lighten up, just listen to the music. Enuff said.......[]
  24. I'm a big Floyd fan. Agree on " The Final Cut " i enjoy that a lot. Just lately i have gotten a better appreciation of "The Division Bell" and it is always in rotation, i think this album really shows Gilmours enormous talent.
