  1. I have a spare V15 III that i decided i would start using. so while i was mounting this i got to wondering, how important is the headshell in the reproductive chain? I have a number of unbranded bayonet type, and the usual technics, pioneer, etc. If there is a difference what should i be looking for. It seems to my thinking this should be pretty important.....John.
  2. I agree with Whell, i have both the 97xe and V15 III, and use them side by side daily. The V15 is more detailed and i find it very pleasing on my Rega. The 97xe is no slouch and worth every penny of the $60 it can be had for.
  3. Latest update, tracking fedex ground international. ....6days, the've moved from Beltsville Md to Lewisberry Pa. Oh well, i guess when they get here i'll call em a Christmas present.[]
  4. WOW!!! And i thought i had a vivid imagination...[]
  5. Yes, i saw that, but they are still compatible with my 780's. Maybe i'll order a latex T-shirt as well.
  6. Paul, your priceless. LMAO.
  7. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=9739493029&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT I've been searching for a year for these Mission electronics wanted an arm and a leg to supply me with replacements. Only problem is when i checked what other items he had for sale i was'nt filled with confidence. Or is my imagination running wild????
  8. Bill, i've been excited ever since i hit the BIN button for them.... john[]..
  9. Hi everyone, i have been enjoying this forum for the last two years, and have expanded my knowledge, and the quality of my audio system beyond anything we could have imagined. All of this mainly thanks to you guys. On that subject a special thanks to The Ear regarding my last purchase...a paradigm servo 15, used sensibly in our two channel system it brings out a whole new dimension, used in our home theatre it opens up a whole new dimension for the neighbourhood, thanx for the advice Arthur. Anyway, back to the point, i'm sure like a few others on this forum money is a big consideration, and we rely on thift stores or hope to get lucky on Ebay, both of which i use, and my experience of both is positive, i know that is'nt everyones experience maybe were just lucky. So i am now at a point that i sit back, listen and thoroughly enjoy my system, or correctly i should say "i enjoy the music". The nicest part of this journey has been my tolerant check book wielding wife who purchased the Rf 5's for me and started the whole thing going, and has now a great appreciation of a very wide range of music. The greatest suprise to both of us has been the re-discovery of vinyl, not to start any wars but a Rega, and a v15 III sure opens the eyes of the un-experienced. Well this was nothing more than a ramble, just wanted to voice my appreciation to you guy's and THANKS KLIPSCH for the forum. I'll report back on the Rb5,s that i won on eBay last week after they arrive. Have a good day.
  10. Thank's Bill, i'm sure looking forward to getting them here. Just need an RC7 and the h/t system is finished, then six Mission speakers will hit eBay. John
  11. Shipping was $75 to Canada's West coast, maybe a little high, but hey i've seen worse. I'll cross my fingers and hope they turn up in one piece, if they do then it will have been worth it. I must admit to a little concern, this was the first time i have purchased something off eBay on a whim, and just hit the button. I had been looking for a pair for a while and had to take the chance, could'nt imagine them lasting too long at that price. I'll keep you informed.
  12. I just could'nt resist them. They will be my rear surrounds, should compliment the RF5's nicely.
  13. Ancientdude, are you either a politician or lawyer? Just interested..
  14. Seems to me hanging a TV of any sort, over any type of fireplace, is a recipe for an expensive disaster. But i'm no expert on fires or TV's.
  15. I certainly know where your coming from with the NAD 7100, i picked up a beauty at the thrift store a few weeks ago. It is doing duty on my back deck driving a pair of Kg4's, the neighbours just love it. Man.. i just love my neighbours, the only comment they ever make is "crank it up".
  16. The Tony Rice Unit.. "Backwaters"...Picked this up at the thrift store a few weeks ago, just got round to playing it. Man can this guy play guitar. Maybe i'm preachin to the converted, if you like acoustic guitar you gotta check out this Album...
  17. One of my favorite artist's, Louis Armstrong, would seem to use this to good effect. Have a listen to Wonderful World, i hope this is not an unwanted artifact or bad recording, i have always enjoyed it partly because of the ssssibilance..
  18. Holy Cr#p, now that really is a coincidence. []
  19. Thanks Ear, any doubts i may have had are gone, this thing is awesome, it has sure opened up a whole new dimension. My first serious sub, i could'nt be happier, aint gonna be any buyers remorse in this house, just got to find an X-30 controller.
  20. thanx again Ear, i think i'll get the sub, i did'nt think i would be going to far wrong at the price, and of course the sub's reputation. I'll try and pick up a controller somewhere.
  21. Thankyou Ear, i was hoping that you would reply and impart some of your expertise. How about the controller is it a must have with this sub?
  22. Yeh, but there's no great rush, it's not like the guy selling it is desperate and bugging me.
  23. Let me try a different question. Would $700 be better spent on another subwoofer. Thanx in advance. John... Where is the Ear when you most need him.
