IF you get a Emotiva make sure you have a sturdy, very sturdy rack. That sucker weighs 70lbs plus and thats the XPA 3. I don't know what the XPA 5 weighs. Also, you can get one and if you don't like it you have 30 days to send it back. Good luck hunting and tell use how it turns out.

You'll love that sub. I have one but I think they have upgraded it since I bought mine. I vote for a amp over a new reciever. An amp won't go out of style.

Looking for a new receiver, could use recommendations?!

For $150 more you can get a 3 channel amplifier that has a 5 year warrenty and can be used for years. You can't go wrong with a amp. -

If a man hurts another man to the point of being disfigured, crippled, or dead with a gun, knife or ballbat, self defense or not, it will set heavy on your mind (if you have a heart) the rest of life. I believe a person can avoid it 99% of the time. I personally don't own a gun because I choose not to. -
I glad ya got them. Hey, how do like your Forte II. I have never heard them. I think that in the near future I might sell my 62's and go Heritage. Not anything big like K horns, maybe Hersheys.

Amy, when I was in the floor stand section and looked at the Cornwall III it gave a price for a pair. Then I clicked on it and it gave a price half of that for a pair. I think the La Scala are the same way and one other too. You might check each one of them or for a small fee( set of cornwall III) I could help you out. I could be wrong but you might want to look at the floorstands and click on each one to see if its the same price -
Youthman, no harm intended. Just joking.

On Sirius radio I like Watercolors.

My brother has a Sansui. He's had it for alot years. It looks like the one in the picture. I would like to see him hook up a pair of fortes to it.

Toddvj, Bracs going to take them. Sorry brother.

I have the movies The Bourne Idenitiy, The Kingdom,Bullet Proof, 300, Blade Runner, and Stardust. You have to take them all. You pay shipping. I ship them to you with the price of shipping and you send me back a money order. I don't have a HD TV so they're in my way. If someone wants them let me know.

Thanks for reading my post. I played with it today and it sounds better the more I listen to it. My system was in need of something. Also, Nixonrsx, its hard to explain how it improved but if you order one, you have 30 days to play with it. If you don't like it, call them up and send it back.

It came today. I ordered it Saturday night, They did the paper work and shipped on Monday and was here today(Wednesday). It showed up without a mark on it. Packing was done right. Very heavy, supprised me. Hooked up without a problem. No hum coming from the speakers. It made my fronts and center come alive. The sound is sharp , tight, larger or a BIG sound and more seperated. The dialog came out like never has before. Even my lovely bride said it sounded BIG. I think she hates it. I will run YPAO tomarrow to see how it sounds. Then a RS spl meter and just play with it. I'm sure proud of my system.

Colter pretty sharp. I've gotten good advice from him more than once.

I think its still a good deal. -
SPL meters. Know thats something I'm not good at. The last time I ran it I lucked out and really improved my dialog and everything else as well. You need to start a new thread. You can download Pink Noise off the internet and there is a correction chart as well that you will need. But I believe you start at 75db to start with(thats were I have trouble) and try to keep everything at that range. But make sure you take all your speaker level to zero before you start. This was my wifes last day of school and I'm getting alittle fuzzy so I will sign off for tonight. Good luck

I have the same reciever and fronts as you so here goes. Pull speakers away from wall and toe them in. Mine is a foot away from the wall. When I ran auto set-up it was all wrong except for the distance. Page 85 on manual. Get into manual set-up. #1: Basic Menu. Size: set all speakers to small, bass out sub only , crossover to 60hz. SP level: Set fronts to 0, center to 3, surrounds to 2 or 3 maybe, sub at 0 or1. Your distance is probably fine if you ran auto set-up. Test Tone off. #2: Volume control. Adapive Dynamic range control OFF(very important).Adaptive DSP level OFF. And then #3 is Sound Level and it gets into the equalizer. I strongly recomend getting a SPL meter and running it no matter what speakers you end up with and a test tone like Pink Noise. One other thing, on the back of your sub set your gain to about 11 o'clock and your crossover on your sub all the way up. Listen to music in 2 channel or Straight Enhancer. Pure Direct doesn't sound too good for me. I have my fronts bi-amped but it takes away from the surrounds so I'm going to order a Emotiva XPA 3 and use my 663 for the surround and as a pre-amp. The 663 will make a very low cost pre-amp. Good luck my friend, I hope this helps.

Buying used speakers, what to look for.

If I had to do it all over again I would go for Forte II or something like that. Don't get me wrong, 62's are good sounding speakers, but you have the upgrade bug now and you will probably get it again. Good luck.
