  1. I very recently had something similar happen to me. I listed my Mac MC150, winning bidder someone in Texas. 2 days after the auction ends the winning bidder calls me to tell me he received a second chance offer on the piece he won instructing him to send payment to a different email address. The net has turned into a scam tool. Always someone out there to screw up a good thing. And then on my Anthem, listed as ship to lower 48, guy from Canada emails me, says he will buy it now if I would ship to him, reluctantly I agreed. I didn't hear back from him for 2 days, and he wins the auction at $150 less than the buy it now price, ok he met my reserve. Sends an email that payment will be made in the next couple hours, next day I emailed him and said I hadn't received payment, he says well I will send payment but that he has a question... he wanted me to devalue the unit on the customs paperwork from a $600.00 purchase to a $100 gift. I told him to jump in a lake. I am not going to forge govt paperwork to save someone I don't know a few bucks on import taxes. he backed out of the sale. I tried a couple second chance offers but I am sure the poor guys thought I was trying to scam them. The unit is now relisted I remember when Ebay was good and fun. no more Ebay for me Jack
  2. Gilbert, That IS the McIntosh reference site. The more you browse the more you find. Roger is the greatest, we email on a fairly regular basis Jack
  3. Why not post some pictures? Do you have any idea as to what they are worth to you? I personally would not part them out, maybe someone here might like to have them. I haven't heard an aristocrat for many many years, but from what i remember i was very pleased and impressed
  4. Joe, so it made it home ok? Glad we had a chance to meet Jack
  5. I recently built a large addition on my house and in the process wired for whole house audio. I built a server with 1.3 terrebaytes of hard drive space and 5 discrete stereo pairs of outputs (4 analog pairs and 1 digital pairs) 3 of the 4 analog sets feed 3 of the 6 inputs on my whole house audio system (which is a Nuvo Essentia 6 source, 6 zone system) the 4th feeds my garage and the digital feed a Mac 3 DAC which is in my sound room / theater. Music selection control is tied into my Home Automation system (2 wall mounted touch screens) and also from any of the 3 computers scattered around the house. I have satelite audio feeds in the other 3 inputs (DirecTV includes XM radio in their programming). From any location I can have any of the 6 sources with all 6 zones being independant of eachother. I never dreamed I would use this system as much as I do. All 1257 cd's are ripped in full blown Wav file format (still only takes 650 gigs of HD space). I was going to route video, but we only have 2 locations where we watch TV so it wasn't really worth it for me
  6. my one and only encounter with the taxman, was with a 400lb taxwoman, all i said the whole time was yes maam, i knew from the getgo i didn't have a prayer of a chance.
  7. Ob, along with Waka Jawaka, Grand Wazzo, Jazz From Hell and at least the 55 other CD's I have not to mention a yard of vinyl and from what I understand I only have about half of his works I sure wish the tour was coming even somewhat close to Flagstaff
  8. Congrats on the position Michael, Its the positives and negatives that make life what it is, you scored a hell of a positive, the negative will work its way out Jack
  9. Never can tell what is buried in there, Glad I am not close by
  10. Well I bet the PM's are running like wildfire now... we will see if the Klipsch website goes down or not
  11. The compression type fittings for 59 will not work for 6, the diameter and gauge of the center conductor differ greatly, moreso for the RCA since the center conductor has to slide into the center pin. The compresion ring for the 59 will not slide onto 6. BTW it is the larger center conductor that allows longer runs of 6 over 59 Most electronics jobbers have them
  12. Well if it is a heritage center, it would be my luck... I reluctantly split my pair of Belles and sold one just this last monday. I hemmed and i hawd, i debated, I hesitated, I floundered, i didn't want to split a matching consecutive serial number pair, but I went back and forth, did I want to split them or did i want to have one sitting in the back room, so i pulled the trigger and sold it... Story of my life, never seem to get the timing down, either I jump too soon or I wait and lose out Oh well, I do like the sound of the Belle between my Khorns.... P.S. Amy Fantastic picture [] Jack
  13. Music... Heals the body, mind and soul I hope it works out that Larry can attend
  14. I was just going to ask this question and saw this post. Today I put K77M's in the Heresy THSR's I bought a few months ago and am using them as rear ambience speakers. They sure sound good, definately not using them to their potenial as rears. OB I'll try the 6" since my floor is carpeted, thanks for posting Jack
  15. Easier to upgrade to 7.1 down the road, 2 channel amps are easy to come by. I have an Anthem MCA50 for center surrounds and rears, then I have a McIntosh for the fronts, easy to match levels and makes for an a$$ kicking 2 channel system for music. The Anthem is fine gear, but nothing beats a Mac...
  16. Jim, Hey, its only money. I gotta get this beauty out of here before I change my mind, do something stupid like buy another set of speakers and keep it. I can just see the headlines now, man mysteriously found dead with MC150 somehow dropped on his head, wife claims complete innocense... Jack
  17. I have had my projector for 3 years now. I went with LCD because back when I was looking the cheaper DLP did have the rainbow effect. I opted for the Sanyo PLVZ2 (i think they are up to the Z4 or possibly the Z5 now). I sit back about 24 ft from a vutec 110" diagonal screen and don't see any rainbow effect. I only watch DVD's and am completely satisfied with the picture. What everyone else says is true, a projector is not for standard broadcast tv, nor for all day viewing. We put about 1 to 2 hours a night and I am still on my original bulb. We watch a lot of dvd released series. the theater setup has the highest waf of all the things I have done. Just a great way to relax after a long day after dinner. Tonight's showing... Battlestar Galactica, season two episode one
  18. I have an Anthem MCA50, 200X5, very dynamic and very musical. If you have an Anthem dealer near you, take a minute and take a listen. I really like mine
  19. Oh no! She would be absolutely sure to make it a long slow painful death not to mention I would probably lose body parts because they wouldn't get used for 2 years either!
  20. Thanks dtel [] And if no one wants to jump on any of this stuff, it will be moving on to most likely Audiogon end of week. Jack
  21. Please pass my wife and I's best wishes to Larry... Jack & Leslie
  22. Now there is a total geek idea, hook em up to an amp, have the wife fill them with salad, apply music and let them toss the salad![]
  23. Oh and thanks for all the return welcomes... much appreciated Jack
