Excellent reciever! -
Tell me about it.. We lost our German Shepherd, Gunner, Christmas Eve last year. Same thing similar to Adolph. I was throwing his ball around in our back yard and I noticed he would occasionally drag his back feet. The next morning he wouldn't get out of his doghouse. We took him to the vet and found out he had degenerative myelopothy, pretty common in german shepherds. We got some medication and it all went downhill from there. Two weeks later we took him back to the vet in hopes a different medicine would work. They kept him overnight and ran some test and we got a phone call from the vet telling us he has leukemia and may not make it another day. We drove straight to the vet and held him in our arms for the last time. We had that special bond that no dog can EVER replace...

Good for you! Sucks about Adolph. How old was he?

budget receiver advice for reference home theater

I also wanted a reciever that could decode the new lossless audio until I found out that there wasn't a difference in sound quality between the player doing the decoding or the reciever. I saved a good chunk of $ getting a reciever with 1.2 ( marantz sr8001) and used the extra money towards my sub.. BUT, that's just my opinion. Just throwing that option out there in case he wasn't aware that he could still get the lossless formats with version 1.2.. BTW- the 3808 is a great unit! -

Just curious why you need HDMI 1.3? Most blu-ray players have built in decoders already. What player do you currently have? I'd take a serious look at a Yamaha RX-V2700 (140 wpc, ipod connectivity, networking etc..) Only HDMI 1.2, but if your player can decode TrueHD etc.., your set. You can find them used for around $350-400. Marantz is also a good choice if you can find a SR-8001 ( HDMI 1.2) in your price range. -
Thanks Youth! We're almost there!!!![Y]

LOL-- Sorry, I was on only kidding about Jason being Brunt. Also, I no longer have the XPA-3 unfortunately. I had to sell most of my gear a while back because my hours were almost cut in half at work. I'm going to start building it back up as soon as we're totally debt free and have some $ saved. BTW Jason, GREAT looking room!

No problem Jason..

Definately a joke.. You'd have to sit pretty darn close to actually see a picture on a 19" screen.

Now THAT was funny!!

EXACTLY was I was thinking. I personally don't dig the new look... But everyone has their own taste. I'm just used to the older style grill covering the whole front. To me, those don't look like klipsch because of the 3/4 grill. But I'm sure they sound great..

Book of Eli was a good flick.. If you liked it, you should check out "The Road". Another good one...

I respectfully disagree

If dynamics are lacking up front, use the RF-3's up front, sell your RC-62 and find yourself an RC-7. You can put your RF-62's in the rears if you have the room. There are LOTS of choices, but I've actually heard the RF-3's with the RC-7 and it suprised the heck out of me. I think you'd be happy with it[Y]

Hi Bruce. Check your PM and email..

After 30 minutes I decided this could be the worst scifi movie I've ever seen 30 minutes of.I understand we all have different taste so no offense. LOL.. Why do you think I included it with the PS3.. Sorry Bill[]

I've got a couple RC-3's if your interested in one. Still sitting in their original boxes.... PM sent.

Looks like this is the second time they've done this. They are now linking these thug-losers to another craigslist attack last week!

This happened about 5 miles from our home. Pretty sick people out there. Makes me sick to my stomach! http://www.king5.com/news/Man-killed-in-Craigslist-home-invasion-police-hunt-for-suspects-92409894.html

From what I've heard and read, the Toshiba HD-XA2 is a great player. The only flaw I've read is the slower load time (about 50 seconds)....Typo fixed

Noticeable difference between a Marantz SR7001 and SR8001?
darylomer12 replied to wuzzzer's topic in Home Theater
Hey Mark. I've never heard the 7001, so take it for what it's worth. But I've had the 7002 and it didn't hold a candle to my 8001. I've actually went through about every marantz reciever, with the exception of the 9600, and have found the 8001 to be the best bang for buck out there. The 8500 is right up there, but no HDMI, only DVI W/ 7.1 preouts. The 8001 was alot more dynamic and detailed than the 7002 and seemed like I had way more headroom, even though the power ratings were only 15 w/channel apart. I felt like I could comfortably crank up the 8001 and it never ran out of gas, unlike the 7002. If you can get $400 for your 7001, I'd say sell it and get the 8001 for $100-150 more. You will definatley notice a difference.
