  1. very cool … so which attire do you prefer -- that photo or your avatar?
  2. That’s cool Jim. I’m not particularly stylish--Blue Jean Levis everyday. But, people tease me at work because of the shirts that i wear. Remember the Paisley shirts? I have several of them and love them. I get a lot of compliments; but, also comments about my 70s attire. I guess i could wear the Tie Dye Peace Sign shirts.
  3. i’ve heard of them…just make sure you look the part…you know, the whole zoot suit thing.
  4. it worked for the Cherry Poppin Daddies and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.
  5. well if you’re not there now, you soon will be able to say what many of us have said, “…I could sell a few speakers …"
  6. Ah, Brian Setzer … my fellow Gretsch man. Love his work.
  7. You got trumpets IbizaFlame … you’ve got nothing to fear…except chapped lips maybe?
  8. Sometimes I whine. I also have four herniated disks (two in my neck that are absolutely horrible) pain every day -- some days i don’t notice it as much. But, i hear what you’re saying -- i’ve seen some with tremendous physical burdens and they have an incredibly positive attitude and drive to do all they can. it’s pretty humbling.
  9. better be careful … Miles Davis references will get you the boot from the censors real quick.
  10. you’re only new here once…then you’re one of US or one of THEM (clever Floyd reference, huh?)
  11. Good Evening Jim--i think you have a fine idea there.
  12. Crap, i was about to ask if i could borrow it. Actually, that’s really cool of you to do that loaner service thing--i’ll bet that helps some families out more than you realize. If you ever become a bull fighter, you can play your own entrance music (honestly, isn’t that why you took it up in the first place?)
  13. Thanks for the reminder … i meant to say in my earlier post about a song that I never hear people talk about; but, i think it’s a totally cool tune off Obscured By Clouds. Very mellow and I’ve listened to it every day this past week i must admit. It’s called, "Wot’s … uh the deal?” One of my favorite Floyd songs. Steve
  14. I saw some of Ca Ira on You Tube -- not enough to form an opinion. Roger’s concerts are fantastic actually. Played nearly identical to an LP -- which i take pleasure in; however, heard a few people bashing that … accusing him of being too technically perfect and not showing any enjoyment. I disagree with them of course. In addition, I’m a fan of this guitarist named Snowy White and he was part of Roger’s band both times that I saw him. I do like and respect David Gilmour; but, wasn’t missing him while watching Snowy.
  15. Trust me buddy, being in this hobby you become a season tickets holder to an annual wallet bleeding. i’ve been real good for a long while now…no new speakers…now new guitars…there’s my lovely weakness.
  16. i like this answer too! Well played Metropolis.
  17. beat me to it Bruce. Hope your having a great new year by the way.
  18. Happy Birthday Dude--hope you have a great one. are those martial arts trumpets?
  19. i wonder if my invitation was lost in the mail?
  20. Genevieve--we have at least two things in common now… (1) i’ve seen Roger twice as well (both times at the Hollywood Bowl and both times his second set was the entire Dark Side of the Moon), (2) I liked Boxx a lot too (hope you are doing okay). Steve
  21. Hey Floydian Trooper (cool name by the way…love Floyd plus I’m a huge Yes fan and they have a song called Starship Trooper, yes i know i’ve bored you already)…just wanted to say welcome. I’ve seen half of The Floyd (Roger and Nick). The best Floyd related story (and it’s not very captivating) is that i have a t-shirt that has a picture of Floyd the barber from the Andy Griffith show; but, his image is colored pink -- thus Pink Floyd. I was in Lake Tahoe a few months back and wore it one evening, I can’t count how many positive comments and looks that i received…one guy actually stopped playing blackjack as i walked by to give me a high five. oh yeah, one time i saw Roger in concert, Nick Mason was there and sat at the drums for the second set (DSOTM). Welcome and hope you make tons of friends and enjoy the place. Steve
  22. i would attribute the lack of flow to the band having checked out, so to speak. The writer knows what we wants when he starts writing … i don’t think the Beatles finished the songs like they had earlier. It’s as if they thought that they had the skeletons of the songs and let or made Phil Spector put the flesh on the tunes. Letting a producer finish is a recipe for mediocrity. I mean, it’s like American Idol for instance…those people are doing nothing to develop these young people -- they have their formula as to what sells and heart & soul doesn’t enter the equation.
  23. Would he be surprised? Hope your Mom is getting by okay. I’ve been through what you’re going through FOUR times. Lost my biological parents when i was eight. Got adopted and lost my adopted Dad when i was 18, and then Mom about five years ago. Mom was pretty lost for a while after Dad was gone. I guess that’s understandable though.
  24. Genevieve … I want to agree with you on that one; but, “I’ll Follow the Sun” is keeping me from agreeing 100%. There isn’t much else on that LP though, i will admit that. I’m not a fan of Let It Be. Although in the Beatles defense (while this was their fault), i believe they weren’t getting along too well about then and the tracks were turned over to the producer and the album completed. Paul has mentioned that The Long and Winding Road was written as a piano piece, and Phil Spector reworked it. was I’m a Loser a rip off of Bob Dylan? I will have to research that one… p.s. Bob Dylan is not a good singer; but, the best songwriter of all time (in case anyone asks).
  25. Yeah. Why did i leave Hard Days Night off my list? Five really good songs on that one (Can’t Buy Me Love, I Should Have Known Better, And I Love Her, If I fell, and a really good one…Things We Said Today). simple songs; but, i like them. i think John & Paul wrote all the songs on this LP.
