  1. That’s what i’m talking about … way to go baby!
  2. Fan of Voldemort eh? apparently i’m a fan of the misspelled word … meant snarkiness.
  3. Go Giants! Some timely hitting tonight … Sandoval, Panik ... Pence is playing good ball. Wanted to see The Freak on the mound; but, Petit is having a great post season.
  4. I did … the A’s blew a nice lead in that play in game. I’m speaking figuratively of course … given the same situation played repeatedly, i think Oakland wins more times than blowing that lead.
  5. Vogie better get his head in the game -- stupid not being in position for that play at first in top of third inning. Gave KC a run. As we would say in the military…he had a loss of Situational Awareness. Your the pitcher…you cover the bag…you do this a thousand times in spring training.
  6. The first paragraph below is from a nurse for Doctors Without Borders. She is upset that she was placed in quarantine upon her arrival back in the United States from Sierra Leone. I think this nurse is blowing things way out of proportion. Here’s my suggested fix…you plan to volunteer in West Africa for 8 weeks? Spend 5 weeks there working and 3 weeks in isolation before you reenter society. "I had spent a month watching children die, alone," she wrote. "I had witnessed human tragedy unfold before my eyes. I had tried to help when much of the world has looked on and done nothing... I sat alone in the isolation tent and thought of many colleagues who will return home to America and face the same ordeal. Will they be made to feel like criminals and prisoners?" Now consider this ... Are you moving to Hawaii with pets or just visiting but can’t leave your furry family members behind? In order to save time, heart-ache, and money… here is a summarized version of Hawaii’s Animal Quarantine Law and qualifying your pet for the “5 Day or Less Program.” Hawaii’s Animal Quarantine Law Your pet must have been vaccinated at least twice for rabies in its lifetime, and they must have been administered more than 30 days apart from one another. The most recent one must be done at least 90 days before the pet’s arrival to Hawaii but no later than the expiration date of the vaccine. Your pet must be “micro-chipped” prior to arrival… if the chip cannot be read, your pet will have to undergo the 120-day quarantine. Your veterinarian must draw blood samples and forward them to an approved lab for an OIE-FAVN Rabies Blood Test. After these results are received, (results are valid for three years) 120 days must pass before your animal arrives in Hawaii. Arriving before the full 120 days has elapsed will result in disqualification from the 5 day or less program! A veterinarian must treat your pet for ticks and pests with an approved product such as Fipronil and record it on your pet’s health certificate. (Within 14 days prior to arrival.) If there is any evidence of infestation upon inspection at the station, your pet can be quarantined despite meeting all the other criteria. All documents need to be mailed to the Animal Quarantine Station at least ten days in advance of your pet’s arrival and they must be originals. No fax or photocopies will be accepted. (Do keep copies for your records.) The animal inspection office is only open from 8:00AM – 5:00PM. Make sure that you are on a flight that arrives in Honolulu by 3:30PM if you plan on taking your pet home that day. (It could take as long as an hour for your pet to be transferred from the plane.) Fees Direct release at the airport is $165 per pet, $224 for the 5 day or less program, and $1080 for the full 120-day quarantine. They can process this payment on-site but recommend you mail it in together with the other documentation to avoid long waits. Sound like a huge hassle? Yep, but if you’re half the animal-lover I am… you know it’s worth it
  7. i’ve had vertigo this past week; but, this thread spun out of control much more quickly.
  8. nice bass! Chris Squire from YES plays one and it’s one of the most beautiful musical instruments i’ve seen. I told Chris that a couple months ago and he said, ”I just hold it--it practically plays itself."
  9. Thanks guys, yeah the black one is a tele. The brown one is a hand built custom one-piece made by Rob Wave custom guitars. It's kind of my baby, used top end flamy maple and local western Kentucky walnut. answered my question…i was wondering what the one hanging on the wall was…i’m a guitar guy so i notice them right away. Got nine of them in my living room as i write this. My latest purchase was a 60th Anniversary Stratocaster (desert sand color with gold hardware--very nice). My baby is a Antique Cherry Red Brian May Rhapsody Acoustic. I’ve met him several times and he helped me get one (nobody in the US sells them) so since it has a “story” associated with it--it’s got a special meaning to me. Sent a guy in London named Andrew Guyton an email about getting a guitar made; but, haven’t heard back yet--just as well as I’m sure he’d charge a fortune. If he doesn’t reply…next on the list for me is another “bucket list” guitar … Rickenbacker. Your guitars and setup look great. Way to go!
  10. I like your analogy. Since i work for the government … we form a committee to study both options. Wait a minute, this looks like it has the possibility to be a serious problem … better form a task force.
  11. Oscar … how does this happen? I mean, what factors enable a virus to mutate? Do all viruses mutate or just some?
  12. sharp, guitar, beer, jackhammer = 24 Sorry Jeff … It’s late and I’m not proud of myself.
  13. Co-worker just got back from a conference in North Carolina. Her plane had a layover in Dallas. She says her grandmother picks her up at the airport when she arrives back in California. Next day, Grandma gets a case of the trots, when she learns that my co-worker had been to the Dallas airport, Grandma gets worried. Next morning she says that she thinks she has ebola. I’m not laughing at an elderly person’s mental anguish; but, it was kinda funny.
  14. ask yourself … what would JR do? The only episode of Dallas that i ever watched was the revealing of who shot JR. Got caught in a major rainstorm in Sacramento, CA and my truck didn’t have windshield wipers. It was the evening, so i just pulled into a hotel. Turned on the television and that was what was on. I hate myself a little for telling this story. Forgive me while i go find the Thread Crapping Honey Pot. P.S. Ebola sucks.
  15. i hear you brother -- major disappointment. Pissing me off actually. Making the Royals look good. Royals shouldn’t even be there--A’s blew a nice lead in that play-in game. Not over yet though--Vogelsong doesn’t give me a whole lot of confidence; but, i think the Giants are the better team and i think the better team wins a seven game series.
  16. my social security number is four.
  17. Easily rectified if you come to Hope next April. When i get to Hope, how do i know if it you guys -- do you smoke cigars and wear name tags?
  18. not sure about immortal … immoral, i buy that. Good evening Brother.
  19. quit tomorrow, i’ll immediately hire you and give you the weekend off, you can quit sunday, and get your old job back monday. What a plan.
  20. Anyone here ever have a handlebar mustache?
  21. I was thinking that too. Hadn’t notice him posting recently. hopefully just too busy having fun to mess with the likes of us.
  22. sadly never met any of you; but, sounds like Brett is a good guy that did a good thing. Bravo Brett! If you worked for me, i’d give you the weekend off
  23. something that i have trouble understanding is that doctors and nurses that seemingly have great hearts (some do good deeds for selfish reasons) and put themselves at risk to help others by being in high risk areas or around infected people, then don’t honor a voluntary quarantine. The television news medical crew that left their quarantine and went out for soup (while their boss, also a doctor, refused to even quarantine himself), this NY doctor went bowling last night--103 fever today. They care enough about people to put themselves at risk then immediately following care more about themselves and put others at risk. A great paradox.
  24. i do ... because i got paranoid. I filled out a form on the VA website...a couple weeks later, went back to the website to check the status and a warning appeared that said there was something weird with the website i was trying to go to and that it may be a fraudulent website. Since i'd entered personal info, i decided to join Lifelock just in case. Nothing ever happened--when i did open a new credit account, they notified me asking if i had opened an account at such & such store. a bit more piece of mind than before i guess...at least this way, if something nefarious happens, i'll be able to act sooner.
