  1. buy a ticket to the movies and buy a bucket of popcorn that is already made. that can be a bit on the expensive side; but, you didn't say price was an issue. Thank you for letting us help you. []
  2. My Gretsch Double Jet, although chambered, is still a bit heavy. I've only played a Godin at the store; but, i like them. Also, like musicman...okay, i just like guitars. []
  3. That's a very nice looking guitar Bruce.
  4. Schu-have you ever played a Godin? I don't know much about them; but, briefly messed around with one at a Guitar Center. It was VERY light (which I like), comfortable, and easy to play. Still got my eye on a Taylor T5--but that's delayed thanks to my recent purchase of a new catalytic converter []
  5. yeah, it is impressive to watch a "pro:" but, you'll be surprised how easy it is. Granted MUCH practice is necessary. When you look at a song as a whole, it can be quite overwhelming; but, when you break it up in parts, it suddenly seems much easier. Gotta work at it though--but even that can be fun. Steve
  6. by remembering the good people that came to the aid of others.
  7. My friend at work is a die-hard chargers fan. We were thinking of making a road trip for the game in Oakland. He insisted that he's wear his charger jersey and hat and expected me to defend him if he got attacked. I told him a raider shirt or hat was a cheap life insurance policy; but, he said he has to support his team. Honestly, it's a shame that people can't do that anymore--it is just a game; but, the fights are very real. don't know if you've ever experienced it; but, when a large crowd starts fighting--it's kinda scary. i was in the wrong place at the wrong time at a dodgers/giants game in san francisco when about a dozen people started fighting. don't want to be in that kind of mess again.
  8. Although I was born right down the road from the stadium--i now live in southern california. don't make as many games as I'd like; but, if i could....season tickets in the black hole.
  9. It's true. My wife says I'm the smartest a** she knows. To think I owe it all to Big Stew! glad to have helped.
  10. If you are good with including ELO, Paul Whiteman, and Percy Faith. Dave If Dave can include ELO, then I get to include Queen--Parts of Bohemian Rhapsody are near orchestral. Actually, I've heard it played in so many genres...by a hundred member choir, by a string quartet, by a guy on piano surrounded by four guys with various horn instruments...yeah, it definitely qualifies. Steve
  11. feel bad...very bad...this place is poison for your mind--except for my posts, they're good, very good; and make you smarter. Sorry, but have to report your very last statement is definitely not working on me. don't worry my friend, by looking at your avatar, i figured that you'd have to read my posts twice--but, you're a smart guy...most of the time...this is football season and i've heard you rave about the Saints...Come out west and let me take you to a game...in the black hole of Raider Nation. I promise it's an experience that you'll never forget. And about the smart comment...i'm not so much myself either. went to a job interview yesterday. One of the questions was "what about this job interests you that made you apply?" I said, "Honestly, nothing about this job interests me. I want to work by the ocean and by the boats again because that's what makes me happy...and I'll be a better worker if i'm happy." Some people have told me that they kinda want you to be interested in the job before they'll give it to you. Oh well, you can say stuff like that when you're already working and just looking for something different. Have a good night. Steve

  13. Or the receptionist or nurse instead of a model, but they look at you really strange when you ask ? at least i wasn't the only one that first thought of another kind of model. Come to think of it, I'll replace one of my knees for a beautiful brunette as long as she's british--something about those british ladies that i just love.
  14. Everyone in my Family wishes I could play, instead I just annoy the helll out of everyone. Not even the dogs will sit next to me out side while I strum on my over priced Martin. I've gone through several dvd lessons, but I guess I should either burn the guitar or pay good money and watch a guitar instructor cry. Hey Gil--Maybe that is just "Your" sound. Be a trendsetter--music is of course very subjective. To quote my favorite (Brian May) "being in the studio is like a blank canvas, we could make whatever we wanted." getting people to pay money for your sound is something completely different. I can't help you there--you'll have to talk to the rich guys on the forum....where's dtel when you need him? Steve
  15. Here you go, not as expensive as the T5. http://elderly.com/vintage/items/40U-5054.htm Bruce Thanks Bruce, I'll have to remember that website--that 175 is a beautiful instrument. if I hadn't just spent $1138 on a catalytic converter last Friday--I'd be halfway there. Steve
  16. Hi Bruce, You’ve mentioned knowing Gary Richrath—did you ever jam with him--even informally? How did you meet him—college? Although I can think of guitarists with a cleaner sound, or maybe more technically skilled, since 1978 Gary has been one of my favorite. He has that hard driving sound that captures the rock of the seventies. I got to meet my all time favorite, Brian May of Queen last year. I was wondering if I should try to shake his hand, and he was the one that extended his hand to me first. We chatted briefly, he told me that it was pure joy listening to me play and he wished he could get that sound out of his Red Special—you know, I’d be so honored if that last part wasn’t completely made up. We did meet and talk; but, not even about music.
  17. glad that you got your BP meds...maybe your posts will be a bit more mild now. You were starting to seem very intense. Sorry to hear about your cousin--you're family sounds like mine. Talked to my brother one day and he told me that my sister had some major surgery--nobody told me. I guess I brought most of it on myself though as i don't tell them what's going on with me either.
  18. Yikes! Listening to Klipsch speakers sure is tough on the body. i should be lucky that I'm just half deaf. Seriously, best wishes to you folks needing surgery. May it be successful and the recovery quick and complete. Steve
  19. thus the beauty of playing your own music--you're the only one that knows "how" it was supposed to be. Years ago when I was in the service, I was in charge of an honor guard unit. The first funeral we had to do, i spent the night before giving the speech that i was to give to the widow while presenting her the flag. I knew it backwards and forward. When i came face to face with her, my mind went blank--i probably couldn't even remember my name. After about five seconds of silence, i told myself that i had to say something, and i managed to get out about three quarters of what i was supposed to say. i did it in a smooth manner and she was grateful. I was upset with myself and then i realized that she (and the others) had no idea what I was going to say, so they didn't know that I forgot 25% of it. And Wrinkles, in my opinion, talent is earned through practice--some catch on faster than others; but, if you start playing some each day; you'll be surprised at how quick you can make a recognizable noise []
  20. i really like the Taylor T5--comfortable to play and great sound. A bit expensive though--i think Guitar Center sells it for over three grand. In the meantime, I got my Yamaha acoustic and Gretsch electric. Someday I'll get a Gibson es-175--something about that old guitar that i just love.
  21. you're a talented guy--have you built a guitar before or is this the first one? I have good ideas; but, whenever i pick up tools something goes wrong. finish that Tele and show it to us. Had a 76 Tele Thinline semi-hollowbody--so regret getting rid of it. Gave it to my brother when i moved away, he needed money a few years later and asked if he could sell it--i said yes. Now, I wish i had it back.
  22. So far since the rain started here Friday afternoon for TS Lee, I've registered 15" inches in my backyard rain gauge.......... and the rain is supposed to continue through sometime Monday . . . We only had 9.75" start to finish, could have spared the other 9" and sent it to TX. No rain. No rain gauge. No backyard. Hope it eases up for you folks getting hammered.
  23. Played a Gibson Hummingbird Pro yesterday. VERY nice. Sells for a little over two grand; but, probably worth it--it sounded great and was very comfortable to play.
