  1. I hate to say it, but I think more than likely it's your Yammi. Yamaha makes good products, but with your RS-3's having 2 horns, it may be spraying the higher frequencies and making it sound more "bright" than to your liking. I switched out an older model of Yamaha (RXV-800) to a Denon 3805 (I tried to find another 3803, none to be found) and my RS-3's liked that VERY much. This is just my opinion and of course YMMV.

What did the wife say? ---------------- I am so ate up with it I am thinking about building a room FOR the LaScalas. My wife said I couldn't bring anymore speakers into the house unless I get rid of some. The caveat, I can't touch her HT and I can't (read: won't) get rid of my Reference HT. I am hoping this would be "middle ground." It was either this, or order 5 La Scalas--wait for them to show up and act SHOCKED that Klipsch would send them to me without my knowledge . I haven't thought further than this... If something DOES happen to me, keep an eye on E-bay.Something tells me that there will be some good deals out of Texas.

I've heard the life expectency is less than 2yrs, depending on viewing habits... ---------------- I chose the Samsung HLN 46 over the 42 because they were the same size, but the DLP HLN-42 had a border around the screen--I would rather have more PICTURE than border. BTW it fits perfectly in the cabinet my 36 inch TV came out of. Insofar as the bulb--I think I am about to have to get a spare one. It is taking longer for the TV to switch on. I have had my set for 1 1/2 years and is not my primary viewing monitor (maybe on, 2- 3 hrs a day average).
  4. You guys crack me up. Thebes sounds like a nice guy but you single fellows need to cut out the middleman and buy a Playboy. Me, I am a happily married man and I am about to go to bed with my wife (Please God, don't let me call her "Tawny')
  5. "Building a Mystery," By Sarah Mclachlan. She puts Thebes' twins to shame.
  6. I for one am excited about this event and thanks for inviting forum members. I don't know of any Heritage dealers in the Dallas/Fort Worth area that I can check out, nor does there appear to be one in Little Rock or anywhere in between! Since Ultimate Electronics closed here, I have to start another relationship with a Klipsch dealer. Tomorrow I have an appointment with a THX home installer (the only Klipsch speaker Rep I can find) ) to audition a system which I heard in Indy. I asked them if they carried Heritage and they said no but I can order them. HMMMMM. I may be a fan(atic), but I am not "ordering" any speakers without giving them a listen and I DON'T feel like paying full price to some installer just because he has a shirt with "Klipsch" embroidered on it. I think I may have to wear my Klipsch tie . Thanks again and I hope I can attend--sponsored or not, Klipsch is lucky to have forum members like you!
  7. Ugly???? I understand that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but if they are ugly, they are Jennifer Aniston UGLY!!! BTW they are quite a bit bigger than the THX Line.

The reference was better for music. It comes down to what you are buying for. If you are more interested in music than the reference is your system. If you want the best for movies, The THX ultra 2 system is the ticket... ---------------- My evaluation was comparing the THX system I heard at the pilgrimage to my HT. My Klipsch Reference system isn't your average reference system.
  9. Hmmm... I see you started the "KLF-20's are Great," Thread, that I responded to. These definitely would be the perfect match for the original poster to use as side surrounds!
  10. ---------------- On 7/13/2005 10:02:51 PM wstrickland1 wrote: Seriously though, ... ---------------- If you want to sell those KLF-20's and live near the DFW area, I will consider taking them off your hands so you can seek out a Reference or Heritage setup. I too, am looking for Klf-30's but would consider another pair of KLF-20's.
  11. In both set ups (best I can remember) I was more in the middle. Slightly more toward the back in the LaScala setup. IMO, to have the LaScala HT you would have to have a larger room than most houses have. I also think being on the 2nd floor was a plus for the demo and bass response. But what do I know--In the A/B test I chose the louder speaker.
  12. ---------------- On 7/13/2005 2:24:03 PM J.4knee wrote: I am convinced the good DRWho and I hear virtually the opposite because after the pilgrimage the La Scala HT blew them away ... ---------------- I didn't dislike the THX setup, but it didn't compare to my Reference HT. I agree that, IMHO the 3 lascalas with the THX subs blew everything I heard away.

A couple of week ago, a pair of black KLF20's with C7 were listed on ebay ... ---------------- If you were to capture this deal along with your 20's (or better yet-- KLF-30's) IMO, you would be as happy as anyone on this forum!!! Good luck!
  15. Welcome to the forum Don't go non-Klipsch. I would be on the lookout for a used KLF-C7 on E-bay or Audiogon. I personally think an RC-7 (I wouldn't go lower) would suffice and sound great. If you go this route keep the box and packing material in pristine condition so you can take it back in case I am wrong. If the RC-7 works out (and you can't find 2 more KLF 20's for side surrounds ) The RS-7's would be OK, but I prefer a direct radiating speaker over the WDST design (My Denon allows 2 sets of Side surrounds and what I would consider the ideal situation;-). If you don't like the match with the RC-7/KLF 20 combo, the RS-7's should still work as side surrounds.

However I feel it is a travisty to call the band INXS with anyone other than Micheal Hutchins... ---------------- My sentiment exactly. If a ROCK band gets their lead singer in this manner, they become a POP Band in my book. The last pop band I liked was called "The Beatles." Keep in mind this is coming from a Stones Fan. I personally didn't think INXS was on a decline and was sorry to see MH go. RIP dude.

And my wife is not gonna go for a rug over the window either. ---------------- I have the HLN 46 DLP in my bedroom, inside a cabinet. It has a great picture, but when the bathroom light is on (TV in corner-light slightly off axes in diagonal corner) there is a slight glare. If your window is behind the TV or on the same wall, I wouldn't think there would be a problem. Another option to consider is the Mitsubishi Diamond DLP's. I believe they have an antiglare screen and a great picture. {edit: also if your window is on the side wall there should be no problem, IMO}

  19. Awe, Shade nice set up I played around with my speakers for a while (an understatement:-) and I would recommend raising your back speakers a few inches (and maybe even tilt them down slightly toward the listening position...If you don't like the sound put them back. I bet your side surround would be fine just like they are. VERY impressive! I have a futon in my HT and I like It alot better than my friends ultra-nice recliners in their theater.
  20. Me. Count me in. September is a travel month for me, but I would try to work my schedule to attend.
  21. Whew!!! I thought this was another "Terrorist" thread. It sounds like you have a nice setup.

Good Luck! Greg ---------------- ...And if you have 2 decent subs that would be EXTREME overkill. Not necessarily a bad thing if you are into Home Theater.

What kind of boxes are your RF's sitting on? If hollow, try filling with sand to transmit vibrations to floor. You may be missing out on a lot of bass. Now we've got to get to work on that DVD 'library'! Michael ---------------- BTW I didn't start this thread. If those questions were geared toward me (I have had this set up for 2 years)--My RF-3's are on stools with black granite floor tiles surrounding it to match my TV. Insofar as lack of bass; I have an RSW 12 in front of me and a RSW 15 behind me. I have a small room with a high A frame ceiling in front. A smallish room with low ceiling behind--Seating position is basically between these rooms. Not alot of problem with lack of bass. I will continue working on my DVD library. I didn't realize that you could see half of it--

I've always been partial to having the surrounds up in the air so I'm curious as to where you guys are placing them and all that. ---------------- I have my front speakers raised 3" off the floor and my side surround RF-3's raised 12" so all of the tweeters are the same height and at ear level.
  25. Wouldn't it be GREAT to hear the RF-7 in a blind A/B test, that was level matched, with some of the other (or even one other) great Klipsch products?
