  1. i do like the "blowing up effect" but what i think i like the most is when sound travels around the different speakers. like bullets flying, pod racing, aircraft flying around you, stuff like that.
  2. alright. yeah i am only doing the 1 row. i understand what the riser is for, the stage is just for effects? (or show).
  3. if a perferct day to you is, taking a tour of the klipsch factory in Hope Arkansas, and then eating a pizza outside after hours watching the moon shine on the building.
  4. if instead of drooling over a poster of a half naked woman on your wall, you drool over a picture of __________________ (insert your dream Pre/Pro with matching Amp.) on your wall.
  5. (this one means you are so far gone there is no possible way out) if you turn down a 6 figure job because during the interview the boss tells you he installed a complet Bose system so the employee's can have something to listen to.
  6. yeah yeah, that one too. mine just hugs me and kindly says "i don't care, really i don't."
  7. if you walk by a Bose store (there is one in the Grapevine Mall in Grapevine TX,) and moon them!
  8. if catch you wife cheating on you, and the only 2 things that upset you are, the new guy has a Bose system, and it's not tunned in.
  9. if you co-works avoid you like the plague because every sentences starts with: "This one time in my Home Media Room......
  10. (variation to one before) if you get more pleasure playing with your audio rack than your wife's rack!
  11. if instead of tearing apart and reassembling a 9mm in 15sec blind folded, you can do the same to any klipsch speaker!
  12. i am just curious, i have seen other dedicated ht rooms with this 6" area platform built. is there a reason for this or pure cosmetics? should i put one in my room and then put my chairs on a riser?
  13. i am soooo sorry to hear that one. i can't top it but i can add to it. my wife calls me during lunch (6:00pm-i am a night shift guy) and all i hear is "your daughter broke her nose and blood is everwhere!" after a quick "Huh? What? and How?" she then says "she was standing on the couch, sliped, and she jammed her noise, the nose is all bunched up at the bridge! she has a couple of knots there." i leave work, wait 5 hours to hear a 10 minute lecture on, no matter what happens to a nose, there is nothing we can do. once the swelling goes down call the these people (he hands me a paper with 2 names circled), pats my daughter on the head and walks out. (i am leaving a few things out, the doctor was very nice, and did explain everything to us. bottom line is, unless they knock themselves out, vomit, or crush their face in, there is nothing anyone will do untill the swelling goes down.) not trying to out do you, mine is not even close, but i will end up paying around $500 for a 10 minute speach.
  14. 1: spending time with the family 2: building computers 3: computer drafting don't have much of friends to do the cool stuff like, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, stuff like that. don't really know many people i would enjoy being with to do those things with.
  15. if you have 3 kids named: klipsch, Heresy, and Cornwall.
  16. i was wondering if you could get 2 treads going, one for living room ht and dedicated ht? i will get off my lazy butt and take a pic of my living room ht in a little while so i too can get critiqued.
  17. as far as movies go i would like the following demos: star wars 1 (pod race) saving private ryan (opening scene) armageddon (opening scene-there is also a clip of the asteroid coming from behind you later in the movie) i don't listen to too much music, blue man is the only music cd i own and that was because my daughter loved it. i like it now, but music listening is something i don't do.
  18. if anyone hasn't see the Blue Man Group dvd, you are missing out! it was playing in frys for a while and my daughter loved watching it. we bought it and it was amazing! it was sooooo good when they came to dallas we got tickets. the concert was a blast! if you turn the dvd over they have 3 songs formated just for 5.1 and it sounds great! thats it, just my little chime in....
  19. hello and welcome. as for your question, there will be many different opinions and approaches. the key first step has already been stated....your budget. if you have $30,000 to spend all at once, then you can start looking now for receivers, amps, stuff like that. if you don't this is my advice. first off, find the house with the media room. then ask yourself how big the media room needs to be or even how big it must be. the size and shape of your room could have an impact on which speakers you can have or would want to have. my media room is big enough for a 3 curved chair orientation. the chairs are also 2/3rd into the room for speaker orientation. second, after you are into the house and the media room, start looking for your speakers and deals on them. spend the most money you can on the speakers because you will have them for a long time. electronics will come and pass, but speakers last a life time. third, after you have the media room, all the speakers you want (5.1/6.1/7.1), go out and buy the furniture that goes into the room. more specifically the chairs or couches, what ever you had in mind. get the room almost completely furnished. forth, speakers and furniture are in the room, now find all the right electronics you need. pre/pro, amps, projector, dvd players, sony playstation, e-box, stuff like that. (by doing electronics last, you may save hundreds of dollars because the older technology gets the cheaper it gets). there could also be a new technology debuted, the new "must have." fifth, everything is in the room, set up, and ready to go. get the right screen to fit the projector and room, and seating distance. (you may also want to do the projector and screen at the same time in this stage). sixth, find or make the right et center and hook everything up. (if you were building a room from scratch you would want to figure most of this out first and run all the cables, buy you said you were buying a home with a media room already there). i hope this can give you a good time line, and budget set up.
  20. or better yet, shut up and catch the ball!
  21. arky, since you own canare cables, how do the monoprice compare to them? what is the honest opinion? it seems to me you went with it because it was $12, which i would like to add, it is hard to beat that price. especally when someone else is asking for around $100. every dollar helps and counts.
  22. to me, a player that talks too much sets you up for being the "bad" guy. people just wait for you to fail. with all the talent in the nfl, you can't afford to piss everybody off. when they play you, they take it to the next level. bottom line is, he needs to go. he is not even catching the ball.
  23. those are the cables i have now. i love them. i think they work very well.
  24. are you saying all the speakers are hooked up to the subwoofer? if that's the case you want to hook each speaker up to the yamaho receiver. sometimes you have to do a factory reset (the settings might be jacked up from the store and you need to get to the default settings). after you reset the receiver and hook all the speakers up to it, then try it. don't forget you have to set the receiver to the 5.1 setting and make sure that your dvd player is set to the right input.
