  1. Doug, I did not realize those Khorns that I told you about were that old. I thought they were '70's vintage. I attempted to get behind the one that was there but could not see the S/N or crossover. So those must have the type "A" crossover in them then. Interesting.
  2. I recently parted with my Klipsch KSW-15 in favor of a little older Velodyne F1500R subwoofer. However, the Velodyne made in 1996 I believe that it does not have a dedicated LFE input as the KSW-15 did. I am wondering how the 80 Hz signal being fed to it via the LFE output on the Denon receiver is going to react since I don't know if there is a way to bypass the internal crossover. I am hoping that is has an alternate set of inputs that bypass the internal crossover. If not what the hell can I do?
  3. I used 1/2" closed cell foam pipe insulation on mine I did not have too staple it or anything either. I tried to find generic automotive door seal material but had no luck. The tail seal kits are like $30 per speaker from Klipsch, $25 if I have my local dealer buy them for me. I opted for the pipe insulation instead and it worked great! Simply split it down the middle slip it over the tailboard edge and violah! Done. I can't tell if it made much of a difference or not but I know they have a good seal. Pipe insulation was fairly cheap too, I used about 20ft I would guess I got it in 4 6' sections.
  4. Congrats! I was thinking of those '68's but opted for the '88 Oak Oil Khorns in Maine instead. I love my Khorns they certainly make a statement resting in the corners of a room. Dvois was gonna pick those up until I let him know of a pair about 20 min from him. I did get photos of them and they are sharp in Walnut and cane grills. I would use boiled linseed oil instead of that Watco stuff as recommended by Andy (HDBRbuilder) I gave my Khorns a couple of coats once I got them home and boy did they light up. Seems like the linseed oil creates a kind of barrier once it dries. I am certain that you will enjoy! I have mine hooked to an outboard amplifier as well running off my Denon AVR-4800, I played back the asteriod sequence from Star Wars: Episode II this past weekend and what a difference with the Khorns, WOW!
  5. I would scour eBay, AudioGon, AudioWeb, AudioReview (Daily Classifieds) for a pair of Klipsch KG-2's (If they will fit), or KG .5's, 1.0's, 1.2's, 1.5's or 2.2's 2.5's. If you want something really small that has a big sound check into a pair of a/d/s L300C's, L300E's or L400's I use two pair of the L300C's (rear effects/surrounds) and find the crystal clear highs and tight bass a great match for my Klipsch speakers. If none of those options pan out, look into the KSB (SB) 1's, 2's, or 3's. Good luck in your search!
  6. It is only a single sub, my personal one, and it is already sold - Sorry!
  7. a/d/s "Analog and Digital Systems" made high quality products and excellent speakers. They have been recently bought out by DEI Electronics and previous to that were tied into Orion and PPI car audio companies. The problem is this a/d/s for all technical purposes does not exist anymore. So getting parts is difficult if not impossible, there are places and people that can repair/recone drivers, and cannibalized speaker parts can be found on eBay. I called DEI and they were no help at all. I don't remember what the 910's look like but I am certain they are a good speaker. I use two pair of a/d/s L300C Mini monitors as additional and effects rears in my home theater and love them. a/d/s speakers have always had smooth crystal clear highs and tight snappy bass response. The L300C's perform like a much larger speaker but are tiny. Do you need woofers or tweeters for them? I have some contacts for a/d/s parts and rework let me know what you need.
  8. It's called Proxy Bidding m00n, eBay will continue to bid for you up to the preset amount that you entered.
  9. So Al, I can take the solder terminal K-55V's from my Belle's and put them in place of my K-55M's in my Khorns (AK-2 Crossoever) and then put the K-55M's in the Belle's (AA Crossover) with no problems, crossover mods then? Is this correct? Please let me know I realize that you said that they are interchangeable but I thought with the crossover changes there would be adverse effects to doing this. Can I expect any differences in sound quality with this change or is it strictly a mental thing? Please advise, sorry I do not think I understood your response fully and I am looking for clarification prior to proceeding. Thanks!
  10. As an experiment before I sold all my Klipsch speakers I would run an outboard amplifier off that Pioneer receiver to see if it would mellow the sound. I have a Denon receiver running DBX amplifiers outboard and I have all Heritage speakers and it certainly isn't bright. My wife or friends have never complained about brightness. You would be suprised the difference better amplification would make.
  11. Looking to part with my KSW-15 15" Subwoofer it is in perfect shape with no flaws. It has never been serviced and works perfectly. I have the original box with all the packing material along with the original user manual. Looking to get $400 for it, buyer is responsible for shipping and insurance costs. The only reason I am parting with it is I have a chance to purchase a used Velodyne F-1500 for a reasonable price. Any takers?

  13. What a crazy pack job, I would have flipped if they came stacked like that when they delivered them. Obviously they did not study too much geometry in school. I would have certainly got a bigger truck. At least they arrived safely! Thank goodness.
  14. I'd give you $80 for that Luxman CD player. I need a decent one for my bedroom system. Do you have the remote and user manual for it? Got any photos you could send? What is its overall cosmetic condition? Lemme know
  15. Geez, that looks pretty sloppy for a factory crossover, the zip ties aren't even neatly clipped. The components (capacitors anyway) look decent though, the coils look like really thin spun wire though. Damn Al your ALK's look neater and better laid out than the new AK-4's and they want $1800 for those things with drivers! I think they could have done a much job better myself, looks like it was just quickly slapped together what a shame. I could do better than that without even trying hard.
  16. Just make sure the Denon has plenty of airspace around it to be able to cool itself down. Why are you playing it that loud when you are not in the room to enjoy it anyway. With Klipsch speakers it is really not necessary to use alot of wattage to achieve decent listening levels. If I played my Denon at -5 you could hear it from blocks away I am sure, and you certainly could not be in the same room since it would be in excess of 120db or more in there. Playing it at that level for prolonged periods of time is certainly not good for it, remember heat is the enemy. I personnally think that the power supplies that come in these units cannot supply a 110W X 7 for any prolonged period of time without shutting down. I run three outboard amplifiers off my Denon 4800, all it runs is one pair of surrounds. The power supplies and storage capacitors in the outboard amplifiers are much larger and can be configured to run 2,3,or 4 channel. In fact all the amplifiers are the same size as the receiver itself or larger. Generally to achieve moderately loud listening levels I seldom have to go any higher than -40. So why are you doing this to your poor receiver? I would certainly add an outboard amplifier if you intend to add more speakers if you are going to run it at those levels continually.
  17. Thanks Al! I have a pair of the soldered on terminal K-55V's that are on my '80 Belle's and the Khorns I just got have the K-55M's any real advantages to swap them out? Anything that would be noticeable sonically? Please let me know when you can. Thanks.
  18. Doug, I would love to see and hear those '62 vertical Cornwall's that you have. Are you currently using all of your speakers in your Home Theater? If so that must be a very nice setup, nothing like a Klipsch Heritage home theater - woo hoo!
  19. In looking at the photos of the 2003 Klipschorns in the "Odds & Mods" section the photos of the K-55X midranges look exactly like the K-55V's. What crossover modifications would be required to the AK-2 crossover to run a pair of K-55V's mids instead of the current K-55M's? On the flip side what mods would be required to the "AA" crossover to run the K-55M's? Just curious in the event I decide to do a swap.
  20. The rear portion of my home theater is in a state of flux right now, I can get a nice photo of the front portion. I just added the Khorns and I have actually sold the Belle's since they are too wide for me to keep as rears. I will be putting a pair of La Scala's in their place since they are narrower. I'll try and add a photo tonight. I can't wait to get everything back in place! I am going to pick up the La Scala's on the weekend of the 25th and the buyer for the Belle's is picking them up on the 19th. Lots of moving around, should be awesome when I get done though!
  21. Very nice, are those finished in Oak Clear? The finish looks like my Oak Clear Belle's because it certainly looks lighter than my Oak Oil Khorns. I am really intersted to see the horn drivers and crossover networks though, bring on the photos! Congrats on a stunning pair of brand spanking new Khorns!
  22. I know of 2 Velodyne F-1500 subs for sale in the NorthEast, not sure if the seller is willing to ship though. It may be a pick up only thing but at $400 apiece I think it would be worth it. I would get them myself but after purchasing Khorns and soon the La Scala's he has as well I think I would really be pushing my luck with the WAF.
  23. The Oak Clear finish is a lacquered finish that does not require any more than an occassional dusting. The Oak Clear finish is lighter in shade than the Oak Oil finish and was also more expensive. I have Khorns in Oak Oil and Belle's in Oak Clear.
  24. Ditto! Heresy II's all the way. Sorry, I am a Heritage kind of guy. Stick to Klipsch's roots and you can't go wrong.
  25. Want a very unique speaker that is neutral and has a virtually flat frequency response. Want Cornwall performance in a smaller package, check my auction ad out. It makes interesting reading if anything. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14993&item=3017756115&rd=1
