  2. Thanks very much, the brass jumper looks smart.
  3. I just bought a used pair of RF-35, however there are no jumpers on the speaker terminals. Did these orginally have brass jumpers from factory? Perhaps someone can post a pic of what they should look like.
  4. It sounds like the Mahogany RB-5 can be a really good value. When paired with the RC-7, the RB-75 sounds like the way to go. I'm assuming the 8" horn makes the difference. I have an RC-7 on the way, so I'll keep looking for more RB-75 and RC-7.
  5. I came across Silversport's post about the RB-5 in the Garage Sale section (see below). I've been looking for more RB-75, but they are pricey and hard to find. Now I'm wondering if I should try the RB-5 instead? Anyone done a comparison between the two? - - - - - - - - - - If anyone is on the fence about RB-5s...these have REAL Mahogany veneer (not embossed plastic) and have what one Klipsch employee has told me is one of his favorite Klispch speakers...very clean sounding and more bass than my beloved Heresys at about a third the size of those Heresys...my pair is being borrowed by a family member but for people who like the Reference line, these are very nice speakers...plenty of members on this website like them too...nice price...good luck with your sale. Bill
  6. x2 - definitely run without a center and wait for the RC-7. You'll save yourself disappointment and $$$. I went thru several centers before getting the RC-7. Once you hear them together you'll understand.
  7. I'm considering trying an older 2 channel receiver with RF-7's. Here's what's for sale in my area. Any of these a good match? Harman Kardon HK 430 $165 Harmon Kardon HK 450 $40 Harman Kardon HK 670 $125
  8. Sold my Outlaw 950 and ready to purchase my first HDMI preamp. I see lots of integrated avr's with pre-outs, but want a simple preamp to match my HK Signature 2.1 (no balanced connections). Any suggestions?
  9. I just ordered a Pioneer BDP-320 because it has multi-channel analog outputs. My Marantz receiver does not have HDMI inputs, but has multi-channel analog inputs. With these inputs I can take advantage of the new sound formats without purchasing a HDMI receiver.
  10. My HK amp seems relatively beefy at 47 lbs, but I have no way of knowing how it handles the load. I guess I'll have to compare with another amp at some point.
  11. "RF-7's are great but really need quite a bit of power for them to come alive and reach their full potential." I'm always seeing comments like this and wonder if I'm hearing my RF-7's the way I should be with my HK Signature 2.1. Any thoughts if this amp (specs below) is fine or should I be looking at an XPA-3 or XPA-5? Harman Kardon Signature Series 2.1 Power Output: 5 x 100 watts @ 8 ohms 20Hz – 20kHz, <0.03% THD, All Channels Driven High-Current Capability: ± 100 Amps Frequency Response: <1Hz – 170kHz ± 3dB Power Bandwidth: <1Hz – >100kHz THD/IMD: <0.03% at rated output Crosstalk: < –87dBr between any two channels at maximum output Negative Feedback: <25dB Input Impedance: 33K ohms Input Sensitivity: 1 volt for rated output
  12. I'm curious about that too. Hopefully I can get my hands on some RB-75's and test them with the RC-7.
  13. t-man - For what it's worth, I've used the RC-7 between RF-7's and it was good. Now I use three RF-7's upfront and it is fuller/smoother (not that it was bad with the RC-7). Youthman - I was under the impression the RC-7 was a match for the RB-75. Klipsch included the RC-7 as part of their "RB-75 Home Theater System" http://www.klipsch.com/na-en/products/rb-75-home-theater-system-overview/
  14. Hudson, I'm curious how you find having the LCD up high? I'm used to having the display down around where your amps are. I need some ideas for my new LCD (coming soon hopefully).
  15. I've come across what seems to be a good price on a 42" 1080P LCD, however I've never heard of "Haier". Anyone have experience with this brand? http://www.costco.ca/Browse/Product.aspx?whse=BCCA&topnav=&prodid=10329787&ec=BCCA-EC780-CatHome&pos=7〈=en-CA
  16. maybe I should add a bit more on the settings... Blu-ray: 6 Speakers set to Large - No Subwoofer Outlaw: Bass Management disabled I assumed with these settings the Outlaw would be volume control only, allowing the 6 full range signals to pass through. So the Outlaw Sub channel wouldn't care what type of signal was passing through it.
  17. My Outlaw 950 pre/pro has 6 analog inputs: Front R/L, Sur R/L, Center, Sub. I want to connect 6 Blu-ray analog outputs: Front R/L, Sur R/L. Center, Back. Can I cheat and use the Outlaw Sub input for the Blu-ray Back? I've got 6 RF-7's (no sub).
  18. I'm considering getting this unit...but I too want to know if it will pass Dolby/DTS signals for movies? thanks
  19. I bought the H K and tested it with 2 channels ... wow. Now I understand; once you have separates, you can't go back Now I just need to find a 5 channel pre-amp
  20. I've come across a Harman Kardon Signature 2.1 five channel amp for aprox $400-$500. Anyone know if this would be a good match for the RF-7's? See specs below. Thanks 5 x 100 watts @ 8 ohms 20Hz 20kHz, <0.03% THD, All Channels Driven 5 x 150 watts @ 4 ohms 20Hz 20kHz, <0.03% THD, All Channels Driven http://manuals.harman.com/HK/Owner's%20Manual/SIGNATURE%202-1%20om.pdf
