  1. "the only way that deal could be sweeter is if a couple of Strippers delivered them ................ EH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! " Now there's a new angle for the sales staff at Klipsch!!!! Harry
  2. Randy, Honestly I wasn't expection them to be anything near as nice as they are. The price you were asking, the addition of the Crites Balancing Network, and you actually coming to Indy being able to do it as part of your work, were all bonuses. I would have been more than happy if they were half as nice as they are. It was a huge surprise they are so nice. This kind of thing doesn't happen very often. My most sincere thanks, Harry
  3. Many people are sensitive to certain sounds from a speaker. It's possible the upgraded Sonicaps brought back to life certain sounds he didn't like or was not used to. Poor quality amplification can be hidden by weak or bad caps. When changed (if properly done) it may have brought out more of what he didn't like. You gotsta match it all up fer it to sounds good. As far as selling you something more expensive, well....Some people think more is better. For the money the Sonicap is a very good cap. I've been using them for a few years now and I've yet to see a bad one. I can't say the same thing about Dayton or Solen. Quality control seems to be a small issue but still an issue. Harry
  4. There are lots of ways to save our resources including more effecient vehicles, different means of energy, moving closer to work, driving less, etc, etc. My initial thinking here is "now" and utilizing best what we have at hand. Walk out to your vehicle and make sure your tires are properly inflated, vehicle maintained to maximize effeciency, and careful planning on driving where possible and convenient. Just the simple "now at hand" things can make a substantial reduction in present consumption rates. Of course it will take everyone doing it but just cutting out some of the waste will make a major impact in a perfect world. We can start now with the simplest measures and make a difference. We can no longer afford to ignore the obvious nor start tomorrow. I see this issue as a "NOW" thing to be taken seriously. Besides, it would give a big "bite in the A$$" to major oil companies and the A..holes driving up the prices gambling and controling the fuel futures on the stock markets. JMHO Harry Harry Harry
  5. '78 "S" models. Amazingly good shape Thanks, Harry
  6. First off let me give a big thank you to Stormin for selling me these great Cornwalls and being able to bring them down to Indy to me. Nice CWs, super clean cabinets, new Crites B crossovers along with the originals. They sound great. Thank you again, Harry
  7. Shoot us some pics. We love pics. Besides I'm curious about what you've got. Harry
  8. These are well above average condition. New Crites "B" crossovers, mint grills, new custom risers, and excellent solid cabinets with all edges and corners intact.
  9. I think you're referring to the K-22 Heresy driver in 12". The Cornwall uses a 15" driver. You'll find Cornwalls from $200-$1500 depending on Model, Condition, location, and seller. Most will need upgrading of crossovers and diaphrams and/or drivers to bring them up to proper working order. These will be less expensive on the whole. If they're all original you can expect to spend a couple hundred bucks and much more to bring them back to where they should be. Let's not even talk about re-veneering. There's hundreds more right there alone. Buying a pair from a known seller that has a near mint pair that's totally been gone through will bring primo bucks and should. I'd much rather buy a very nice pair than an old average pair to keep. I don't mind paying for quality as it's always a good investment. An average pair will always be....average. Here are my $500 Cornwalls "Stormin" delivered today. Harry
  10. "Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not."--Nelson Pass
  11. My old '92 Nissan work truck is a prime example. When fuel prices were more reasonable I didn't pay much attention to how much fuel I was using. I made many unnecessary trips, didn't maintain my vehicle like I should, and drove the heck out of it. I was averaging around 16 mpg. Since gas hit the $4.00 mark I've made a conscience effort to save gas whenever and however possible. I keep my tires up to 38 lbs cold, keep my oil changed now, replaced the air cleaner and plugs (2nd set in 148,000k), and take my time while driving. I'm now getting 29-31mpg on the average. Most is keeping my foot of the pedal so hard. My monthly gas bill is almost half what it was even in times of high fuel prices. Just common sense and making the effort. Too little too late? Never too late to start. Typical American here. I didn't think twice about gas prices and availability until now. Harry

  13. While out and about today I stopped in McDonalds to get my 7 year old some lunch. The car in front of me had 3 very low tires. A young girl at the wheel with 3 little kids. I felt like walking up to her car and saying "if you air up your tires you'll save a bunch of money on gas". Not sure of her perception so I decided against it. It got me thinking about the fuel mileage of vehicles and all the low tire pressure tires on the road. I started looking for low tires and the number is actually shocking. This may sound very simple, but if everyone aired up their tires there could possibly be a 25% reduction in fuel being used. The number is just an uneducated guess but It's probably not far off. More possibly? Would fuel prices start coming down if everyone made an effort to use the fuel more effeciently? Less energy use is the long term goal for many reasons. Just a simple observation today. Are your tires aired up properly? Harry

Just a bit of humor Are you a Democrat, a Republican, or a Southerner? Here is a little test that will help you decide. The answer can be found by posing the following question: You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, an Islamic Terrorist with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, praises Allah, raises the knife, and charges at you. You are carrying a 40 caliber Glock, and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do? ____________________________________ ______________ THINK CAREFULLY AND THEN SCROLL DOWN Democrat's Answer: Well, that's not enough information to answer the question! Does the man look poor or oppressed? Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack? Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation? Does the Glock have an appropriate safety built into it? Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children? Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me? Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me? If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me? Should I call 9-1-1? Why is this street so deserted? We need to raise taxes, have a paint and weed day, and make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior. This is all so confusing! I need to debate this with some friends for few days and try to come to a consensus. __________________________________________________ Republican's Answer: BANG! __________________________________________________ Southerner's Answer: BANG! 16. The older EPI/Genesis were a very good sounding speaker. My favorite was the M200C EPI. Big heavy floor stander. I ran them for years with the Crown DC300A and couldn't ask for a nicer sound. EPI still has a devoted following of the older models. Harmon Intl took them over and ruined them. Not the only thing Harmon screwed up once they got their paws on them. Just don't overpower the Genesis Arf, you'll be shooting woofer parts around the listening area. Done that. Harry (how many posts do I have now?)
  17. The rubber surrounds on my KG4s finally gave up the ghost and I didn't feel like trying to find a "good" used one. I refoamed the surround and put a new dust cover on. It worked out great. Sounds tighter and more forward on the bass than ever. Harry
  18. This is normal with UPS. They deny all claims in the hope you won't follow up with your claim.Lousy way to run business but they're getting away with it somehow. I've had too many of these transactions with UPS and only use them when I have to. Now you know why the "Big Brown Truck" is brown. You're left holding the s... stick with UPS. Harry

Old Mule A city boy moved to the country and bought a mule from an old farmer for $100.00. The farmer agreed to deliver the mule the next day. The next day, the farmer drove up and said, "Sorry, but I have some bad news. The mule died." "Well, then, just give me my money back." "Can't do that. I went and spent it already." "OK, then. Just unload the mule." "What ya gonna do with him?" "I'm going to raffle him off." "You can't raffle off a dead mule!" "Sure I can. Watch me. I just won't tell anybody he's dead." A month later the farmer met up with the city boy and asked, "Whatever happened with that dead mule?" "I raffled him off. I sold a hundred tickets at two dollars apiece and made ninety-eight dollar profit. "Didn't anyone complain?" "Just the guy who won. So I gave him his two dollars back".
  20. Oly1, Welcome. It sounds like you've blown the woofer by your description. Woofers can be replaced cheaper than the complete sub. If it fits your needs it may be that replacement of the woofer may be for you. If you need "more" you can always replace the whole thing. Harry

While shopping in a grocery store, two Baptist church ladies happened to pass by the beer, wine, and liquor section. One asked the other if she would like a beer. The second good Baptist sister answered that, indeed, it would be very nice to have one, but that she would feel uncomfortable about purchasing it. The first sister replied that she would handle that without a problem. She picked up a six-pack and took it to the cashier. The cashier had a surprised look, so the good Baptist sister said, 'This is for washing our hair.' Without blinking an eye, the cashier reached under the counter and put a package of pretzel sticks in the bag with the beer. 'The curlers are on me.' Harry

An old prospector walks his tired old mule into a western town one day. He'd been out in the desert for about six months without a drop of whiskey. He walked up to the first saloon he came to and tied his old mule to the hitch rail. As he stood there brushing some of the dust from his face and clothes, a young gunslinger walked out of the saloon with a gun in one hand and a bottle of whiskey in the other. The young gunslinger looked at the old man and laughed, saying, 'Hey old man, have you ever danced?' The old man looked up at the gunslinger and said, 'No, I never did dance. I just never wanted to.' A crowd had gathered by then and the gunslinger said, 'Well, you old fool, you're gonna' dance now,' and started shooting at the old man's feet. The old prospector was hopping around and everybody was laughing. When the gunslinger fired his last bullet, he holstered his gun and turned around to go back into the saloon. The old man reached up on the mule, drew his shotgun, and pulled both hammers back, making a double clicking sound. The gunslinger heard the sound and everything got quiet. The crowd watched as the gunslinger slowly turned around, looking down both barrels of the shotgun. The old man asked, 'Did you ever kiss a mule's a$$?' The gunslinger swallowed hard and said, 'No. But I've always wanted to.' The 2 main lessons from this story are: 1. Don't ever waste your ammunition. And most importantly........ 2. Don't mess with old people.
