  1. Arthur: I planned to run from a Sunfire Theater Grand IV processor out sub 1 & 2 into 2 unusd channels on a Sunfire Cinema Grand amp (400 wpc/8R) then to the subs (independent channel for each). Since this is for a 2 channel system only and the only other speakers I'm using are Carver AL-IIIs, I really didn't anticipate needing to drive these puppies very hard at all. They will supplement below 40 Hz for SACD, DVD & CD music only, no H/T.
  2. So a passive radiator is considered ported for these purposes, then?
  3. If I run them separately, 8 ohms; if in parallel, 4 ohms. Not an issue with my amp.
  4. That's what I thought, but with the application I'm using, I don't see even coming CLOSE to bottoming them out. Maybe the SACD of the 1812 Overture at max volume...possibly....those cannons are BRUTAL!
  5. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't HP a High Pass filter?? You lost me there. I was planning on running these from the bass management of mySunfire TG-IV and off my extra Sunfire amp channels (400 wpc) which I know is WAY below their max, but I REALLY don't plan to be overextending TWO subs this size against two Carver AL-III speakers...my goal is flat response to below 20hz, so these will only see duty below 40 Hz and neither should need to work very hard at all. They should be loafing....
  6. Well, considering it's HER house, and I convinced her to let me set up both 2 channel & H/T systems....I need to choose what I fall on my sword over...
  7. Everything I've read on 5.1 and 7.1 setup is that all speakers should ideally be the same distance from your listening position. Since that's not usually possible, that's why there is a setup in HT processors to compensate.
  8. 1. Put the vacuum hose against the dustcover 2. Turn on the vacuum for about a second, then back off. Leave the hose against the cover until the suction drops off. 3. This should pop the cover back out. Applying it while running full bore will probably damage it. Nice find!
  9. No fool here! Now if I can just convince my fiance` to not KILL ME for buying them and let me insert them into the system (she's very fussy about aesthetics)....[]
  10. Huh?!? The .1 in the X.1 is the number of subs. For 5.2 you would have 2 subs....clear as mud?
  11. Can you be more descriptive about the rattle? Put on something with the frequencies that cause it to rattle and get down & listen to where it's coming from. It could be as simple as missing a "foot" on the cover to a loose port tube.
  12. Looks like a cherry tree...I'm surprised you could get it shaped like that in 10 years....
  13. You're not going to get a heckuva lot of material from the rear surrounds so I'd suggest smallest speakers there.
  14. To produce clipping into my RF-83s with my 400wpc Sunfire amp, I have to be at a level that makes my ears bleed & sterilizes anyone within 250 feet... [H]
  15. Beautiful! What's the finished weight& how does it sound?!?
  16. Sunfire Ultimate Receiver w/Klipsch RF-83 system
  17. If you're talking Surround Back speakers, there is so little information to them I can't see it making any damn difference! [H]
  18. Yellowjackets or Spyro Gyra......probably Spyro Gyra. [*-)]
  19. I have an RC-64 and it kicks butt. All you have to do is aim it at your listening position & set the # of feet away in your processor.
  20. Well, I'd qualify that with "if you are running a TON of power through your wires, having four instead of two could be an improvement"....lotsa variable in there, though.
