  1. The surrounds have actual provisions on them to hang from the wall...do the bookshelf units have that?
  2. Now, someone would make MY day if they bought these speakers...
  3. Also check for a single stray strand or two of copper touching at the speaker or receiver end of the connection. Were these new or used RF-83s? If used, they may have issues. I'd check the impedance as a precaution.
  4. Unpacked them this evening! Did they each have a corner that was crunched from being dropped? if not, they do now. I don't think it affects the structure, but isnt pretty. g~
  5. That B@$turd! He replied to an email I sent him via the feedback...dumm@$$ dip$h!t.... I've called and left him several messages with NO replies at all to any of my emails, either. I may have to make a trip up there just to kick his stoopid @$$! Please pardon the ranting...I had 100% feedback until now...over a course of 9 years!
  6. I have a pair of well-cared for black KLF-10 loudspeakers I purchased new in 1997. They have some minor scratches on a couple of the edges where the black is worn off to the wood, but no gouges or cracks. They have never been abused and are sonically excellent. I have the original boxes, albeit they are pretty beat up. $450.00 OBO, local pickup in southern MD (St. Mary's County). Will only ship in exceptional circumstances.
  7. I agree with DrWho; it sounds suspiciously like a wire short. I can't believe no protection circuit blew before you fried the channel.... I have the RF-83s as well; you will be hard pressed to hurt them at any level below immediate deafness...
  8. The generally accepted standard is @ 2.5 times the screen size away from the TV. She needs to go test drive and see what is comfortable within the confines of her room FOR HER.
  9. Just over $4k. MSRP was $6394.00.
  10. Do they tone down the somewhat "bright" high end of the KLFs?
  11. I've been using $3 optical cable I bought off eBay for several months now with nary a problem. I cannot tell ANY difference other than the weight of my wallet.
  12. I'm currently running a complete RF-83 surround system, including rt-12d sub, from an Ultimate Receiver. It is incredible.
  13. Waiting for a reply; I've requested his number from eBay & will call this afternoon if I haven't heard from him.
  14. My God; you folks must have 500 amp breaker boxes dedicated solely to audio...what's the current draw on a JL Audio GOTHAM at full power? !!!!
  15. I would be remiss if I didn't include one of the BEST CDs I've heard in a long time; Bela Fleck & the Flecktones: Greatest Hits. I LOVE this music! Victor Wooten (bass) does things with a bass guitar that have to been heard to be believed.
  16. Neil Diamond. Play Me: The Complete Uni Studio Recordings...Plus! MCA Records, 2002. Whoever is responsible for cleaning up these original recordings did a fantastic job! Background noise is practically non-existent for older recordings! This collection contains many of Neil's non-hits, but all are excellent. There are a few standards, such as "Cracklin' Rosie", "Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show", "I am, I Said", "Play Me", "Holly Holy" and "Sweet Caroline"
  17. I have the RC-64 sitting directly on top of the TV and get a loud "BWOOOWWWWZZZZ" buzzing sound when I turn the TV on, but that's the only time. I'm eventually moving it to a shelf.
  18. I had to look it up, also. Never heard of him.
  19. Supertramp; Crime of the Century. A great album! I also have Live in Paris, Breakfast in America, and Even in the Quietest Moments. The live album was a fantastic recording.
