  1. I really love that "klipsch a legend in sound" poster. its sweet. is that an ebay find
  2. hmmm. correct me if im wrong but i dont think you want a SPDIF cable. I'm pretty sure any RCA cable will do the job but subwoofer cables are a little different because they only carry certain frequencies...? maybe? http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/subwoofer/index.htm they're a bunch of them on thier and there is a post in the Home Theater section that recommends blue jeans cables, although I've never used them...
  3. just moved into my house about a month ago...I live in Iowa so we've been having some of the coldest days in a few years...which is awesome since i havn't even got to see my heating bill yet...but to be on the safe side we have it set to 61...college kids ya know?
  4. ha, howabout my DADS HT...I actually dont really know what the speakers are, he had them installed by someone in-wall style(Mirage, I think). but hes got a 47'' westinghouse, a lil 8'' Mirage inch sub, Marantz SR4002, and some upconverting DVD player . does him okay i guess. (i just think its kinda funny that you guys give your hand-me-downs to your kids...whereas I'm way more into this sorta stuff then him, he just wants it to sound good and the WAF is key for him.
  5. Howabout some rap/R&B? Off probably one of my favorite albums from last year, Epiphany by T-Pain. Track number 9, Put It Down. Lots of low bass, sorta explicit content(not so much bad language but more sexual inuendo type stuff). But overall its an awesome CD, all the songs have good bass, this one in particular is just awesome. I know I know, most of you guys probably don't listen to rap, though this is more on the R&B side of rap, but maybe if you gave it a chance , you might just like it...
  6. I had one of those installed a while ago, didnt really like it tho so I stuck with my RF-83's instead... really tho, wouldnt all those amps make that room hot?

    RC-84?

ah that sucks. i guess ill have to "settle" for the rc-64....

    RC-84?

so you COULD use a rf-83 on its side, i was kinda under the impression the horn needed to be in the right way, or is that something you could change pretty easily? assuming space and WAF(not an issue at the moment) were not a factor? I kinda specifically bought a tv stand that had a big space for a center. And I guess i never thought about the space thing before he mentioned it. I think, without actually measuring, I could fit one maybe with a little bit of the bottom of the speaker being covered by the bars of the stand. I just thought it would be a cool project or something, i know lots of you guys have big goals and stuff and was seein if anyone had attempted it.

    RC-84?

Yeah, I suppose that true, but dont some people make a center outta the rf-7? I was just wonderin if anyone had for the rf-83's yet. I'm not sure if standing one on the side would work. wouldnt the horn be the wrong way?

    RC-84?

Basically, I wanna know two things.First, why didn't Klipsch make one? Cuz really arent you suppose to have three identical speakers for the front soundstage? I'm sure the rc-64 does a find job, I just don't get it, I would think the top tier reference package would have a center channel dedicated to it. Two, could one go about making one? I suppose it would be tough maybe a rc-83 would be easier?. I certaintly wouldn't even try, i have dont have the tools nor the talent, but howabout one of you DIY guys? I think I'd pay someone to make it for me if its even possible.
  11. I have a logitech z-5500 that i used previous to buying my rf-83 system. Its just sorta sitting in a box. it did really well. it has an optical and a coax and always filled my dorm room rather nicely...I think i paid 400 for it. I could sell it to you if you're intrested. the sub has quite a few nicks and scratches on the top that dont affect performance at all. i could take a pic to if you want. But even if you don't want mine, i would recommend this to anyone. http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/speakers_audio/home_pc_speakers/devices/224&cl=us,en Oh and i also have a little passive optical splitter, which is what i used for my xbox and ps3. I'd throw that in to. the only thing you'd have to buy are some optical-to-mini adatpers that can be had for pretty cheap off ebay or even somewhere like radioshack.
  12. i have a 47 inch phillips 1080p lcd and its alright. the black levels are so so and it has some flashlighting issues. so i think ill be trading it in (via best buy replacement plan dealy) for a 50 inch 1080p plasma, either the panny or the samsung, both get pretty stunning reviews for about what i spend on the LCD. I have mine in a dorm room and its never been TOO big(dont think thats even possible) so really its about the $$$, for me atleast.

    A new twist

actually the last theater i was at had a full bar. it was the Imax near minneapolis...im only 3 days away from being legal! so i didnt partake at the time...but i might next time i go...although i think a beer was 5 bucks...typical movie theater prices...
  14. haha i was thinkin the same thing...how much for that 360 addon(i assume thats what he means...) i guess im a dumb consumer...except i really like batman begins annnnnnd no blu ray...
  15. Alright, one more question. With either the Custom's or the Image's, can I run/work out in them without them falling out? To be honest the most ive ever spend on headphones is like 70 bucks and they were a pair of noise cancelling over-ear type Phillips? i think...yeah so nevermind them. But for working out I use a pair of wrap around style headphones that i bought for 15 bucks from wally-world...I never have used any in-ear simply because i have dumb ears or something and they never fit(which could be due to the fact that ive never BOUGHT a pair of them, just the ones they include with whatever MP3 player or CD player i have bought). SO would i have a problem with either for physical activity, judging by the previous description, maybe the Images are better for this? Maybe neither and I should stick to my cheap-o models for working out and only use my soon to be aquired Klipsch for trips and stuff? Thanks!
  16. Alright so awhile ago when these things were first coming i read somewhere a great summary of what each one excelled at and which did best for different types of music. It was mostly comparing the differences between the Image and Custom series...however i can't seem to find this post. Im trying to decide which ones I want... I listen mostly to stuff with lots of bass like rock and rap. If I remember right the Image was not recommended for this and I would be better suited with the Custom-2's or 3's even? I dont know if it matters but I almost always listen to it out of my Iriver at 192kb/s or better. SO, can someone either direct me to this post or maybe give me a suggestion...I realize that the Images are the most expensive and while that will play into my decision on what to buy, lets say for a minute that id spend 350 dollars on headphones...
  17. I really only notice the cooling fans on mine if i listen for them...and I sit fairly close to the unit, less then 8 feet for sure. But then again i dont consider myself to picky on that matter...
  18. yeah I have a ps3 and use it for Blu-ray and i love it, so i recommend it also. the only thing you dont get is DTS Masterless...were all hoping for Sony to include this in a new firmware upgrade eventually...but we'll see if that ever happens....
  19. haha. my favorite part was the "quantum purificatio"...priceless.
  20. haha yeah, i thought it was sorta funny when I saw the ad, i was more curious to see what they actually do...never did find out haha. but if they're that expensive they must do something good right...?
  21. haha, well I saw an ad for these while browsing around audiogon tonight... http://www.tweekgeek.com/_e/loc/product/BGGSPk/Bybee_Golden_Goddess_Super_Effect_Speaker_Bullets.htm is this a new gimic or an old one? haha they cost more then my speakers...
  22. hmm, I would probably just buy two 90 degree shelf brackets and put it on those with maybe some of that soft shelf liner stuff on each of the brackets. Thats a nice cheap solution anyhow, probaly cost you like 5 bucks. then again, im a college kid, haha. You could even bend them so thier a little more then 90 degrees so that thier angled towards you(under the screen, obviously)
  23. SO.... B&k Reference 125.2 for 470 on Audiogon vs XLS 202D for 435 i think ... any opinions?
  24. So as far as a decent 2 channel amp to power RF-83's, what would be a reasonable "pro" amp? I've never really considered them and dont know anything about them. So can you give any advice on sound and what not? I dont wanna spend that much money probably less then 500. The XLS 202D doesnt look to bad and is within my price range(435 with rebate i think). Which QSC amp should I be looking at? I dont really know what all these features and stuff do. I just want an amp, haha. The RMX looks nice, but expensive maybe? I cant find the prices for the QSC amps but its probably outta my price range.
