  1. 1. Large box device with squirrel cage fan, a water reservoir, and a pump. Three sides have filters the water is pumped up to and drains. Air is drawn through, cooled by about 15 degrees in low humidity, and the humidity of the outflow is much higher. That's why you've not seen one in Florida. Godawful place for them. 2. They exist because much of what AC does is reduce humidity. Last thing you want in the desert or very dry conditions. 3. Covered 4. The only cost is running the fan, much less than AC. And, yes, well before AC. There were also models you could roll up in a car window. The air was scooped in and part of it used to push water into the filters. Excellent in the desert. Haven't seen one in 40 years. Dave Thanks Dave! This helps a lot as, at least here in north Florida, I was not aware, although they must have been around. There was this Dr. Gorrie in Apalachicola, who experimented with keeping his patients cooler.
  2. Well, that is all I need to know! I'll keep my beer in an icechest. *Answered BTW, it is raining!
  3. You win, I don't want to have anything to do with a working contest, but I would like to meet you, try to get to the next gathering, you won't be sorry. dtel, And here I was feeling sorry for you with no crew, not even a helper(?). Now I read where you were working in A/C, with a swamp cooler to boot. Anyway good job, better than I could get done, I tell you. No, I am thinking my better working days are behind me. Still plenty to do around here I guarantee. Thanks for the personal invitation, as I cannot recall one before, but maybe I had.
  4. What is a swamp cooler? Why is there one? And to what purpose if not covered in previous? Are they poor man's A/C, before/after A/C? TIA
  5. I would drink it instead of putting it on the eye. Well maybe a little. Vodka martini! Could have been a wasp or bee, this time of year.
  6. Just tryin to liven up the thread so, just a bunch of
  7. Truth is, I used to outdrink most folks I met before until this 1 guy bet me I could not drink cinnamon schnapps w/ tabasco sauce X 5 of those little condiment cups you squirt ketsup, mustard in X 5. Do not recall if I did it but, next thing I recall is my brother waking me up on my barstool. He walked with me outside, where I proceeded to try to punch holes in the concrete block of the bar wall with my fists. My brother just backed up and asked me, what in the world I had to drink. Many years ago...and like to think that is over now. That is, taking crazy bets. Of course, others on the forum nowadays can outdrink me daily...and, I think they do!
  8. Saw right through that didn't you all. Yessir, a hard working man like me is hard to find, and keep...working. Fact is, I outwork anybody, I ever have worked for, or met, except maybe dtel because we have never met. Back to ironing the apron, before the hammer drops...
  9. Whelp, as I was expecting, procrastinated to near time for her to come back from Maine off of vacation. Did get my 5.1 mostly finished except for odds and ends. Did some other stuff too but, as for what needs doing before she comes, not worth a hill of beans so. Working under extreme pressure in the heat of the day telling the yard contractor what I need besides the mowing, Nan's plants, bush, etc... When Minute Maid Molly gets here bright and early, she and her partner will have their work cut out for them. Final outcome will be, I will reap the reward, and the points, kudos thinking, Billy is a hard working sweet individual. Meanwhile, notice am keeping cool under the pressure. I do my best work, last minute and under pressure. !!! Like a brass ball valve! No leaks! As for Coffee and Cables, I've read every post here. Good Stuff!
  10. Dang Matt, too much room between them speakers. I would get a set of Scala in there between. Lol, enjoy!!!
  11. Must say, they look right at home! Good deal...
  12. Hope we get to try out the Klipsch headphones next!
  13. Yes, but to be honest the z booms are the ones I won't take all the way up, or the 180' boom we have. I have taken 120-135 up but my knees get to wobbling above 100'. 80, 60, and 40's no problems. Yes you do get use to it, some have no fear right off the bat. The tallest scissor I have seen is around 50' I get wobbly knees thinking about it. Climbed 40 foot ladder on a job before but, partner I thought was fearless and a little younger. Then one day, I saw him take a hit off of a bottle of peppermint schnapps before a climb.
  14. Duder, do you have to get in the bucket and raise it, as part of checking it out? Looks mighty high off of the ground. Have seen a scissors type Genie, I think. They have a big one down in Tampa where I work on weekends, but do not think it is as high as that. Will look again for the model #. Guess you get used to the heights.
  15. I can't go where it's really cold anymore. It takes your body a couple seasons to get acclimated. Short visits will tear you up every time. I could learn to live with it. Yes, cannot take cold like I used to but, this sauna down here is unquenchable.
  16. I would almost think they would have to use something like that, given the demensions. Sounds creative.
  17. You had mentioned it maybe mellowing at 200 hours earlier. Got to be loving it... This may be the keeper.
  18. Seeing different formats over on youtube. More material as time continues. See what's new. There are not up to near snuff material there to fill their servers. Good enough, near up to snuff stuff is there fresh posted, everday. Sometimes. lol Hidden gems I find, at times. Find myself tweaking, of course for material that needs it, which is most times.
  19. Yes, I have to get a smoked one for sure...raining between sunshine here... Yes, as especially, I need to do some stuff outside. Lol, yes, I know the source of the smoked porkchop crave!
  20. It is hit and miss on the picture and audio quality. Best quality is sometimes there in the audio, similar to a CD. A good stand alone DAC can help out at times. Really, unless they are elsewhere(?) Youtube is the go to place for especially live performances. At least my experience. Best quality I have found, is always at the site itself, and not embedded on a webpage. Know you are asking more but, all I got at the moment.
