  1. For sale are three Electro Voice DH1A 2 inch exit drivers and matching HP640 horns. All drivers have stock EV diaphragms. Two of the drivers and horns are painted "antique bronze" from when I used them on top of my Klipschorns, the third horn is wrapped in a dynamat like product. I have found these drivers and horns to be a wonderful combo and still have a pair in my basement theater. They can be used on a Klipschorn/Belle/LaScala with only a slight modification to the stock passive crossover.

$200 each for a horn and driver combo, or $500 for all three. These drivers are crazy heavy and the horns are not small so local pickup (Cincinnati area) is prefered.

  2. I am thinking about moving my tuba table sub to my rural place in NC. I would use it with a pair of JBL monitors I recently aquired on a large screen porch. Since this is a mostly open space with no wall behing the tuba table do you think it will perform well? It is a wondeful sub in an enclosed space but I am questioning its ability to deal with such an open space with no wall behind it.

  3. I finnaly worked it out with the seller. Apparently his wife got involved and told him to sell me the speakers for the agreed on price. 🤣

These really sound nice, they remind me quite a bit of my Cornwalls but more refined and detailed. Big fat bass as well, though a sub will be needed for the bottom octave or so. I'm going to really enjoy these.

An associate who's an Audi tech told me the Audi is a car only the rich can afford....after the warranty expires. It's not that they unreliable it the cost of regular maintenance parts. And IMHO (a 40+ year technician) do not use aftermarket parts in any vehicle with few exceptions. Buying used I'd seek out Japanese if imports are your game. Parts for them aren't cheap either but less frequently needed.

My experience applies to BMWs but is probably the same for Audi. It's not the parts that are expensive, it's the labor costs that are sky high. If you can DIY most repairs then owning one is not a lot more expensive than a Honda. However the key to getting a long and happy life with one is doing some research and getting ahead of part failures. Too many times one part failure can result in a cascade of part failures so knowing when to replace is important. That said I now drive a Subaru.

  5. A Quarter Pie bass horn with the mid horn of your choice would fit your space. My center with the big EV 640 on top is only 30 inches tall. There are good smaller mid horns that would work well too and reduce the height further. This will have no issues keeping up with Klipschorns.

  6. Enjoy them as they are for long while. Upgrade-itis is a common disease (I have it too).

In the long term, IMO the greatest upgrade is to time allign the drivers and that can be acheived without any aleration to the speaker. After that if you want to go crazy get a set of K402 and place them on top and you will have 90% of a Julilee. Have fun!

Also: look into the Topping PA5! It has a matching balanced DAC and the pair is less than $600! ASR just measured it and it was the second best measuring amp they've ever measured. Right behind the Benchmark AH2B!

It's a 50wpc Class D amp and it's one of the best measuring amps in the world. I intend to get a stack eventually myself.

If it was my money I would start there. The beauty of an efficient speaker like the H4 is that you don’t need to spend a ton to get a great sound.

  8. I am using RP-140SA (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZIQZBTG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) in my 7.1.2 living room Heresy system. In ceiling speakers are not an option (ceiling fans).

Orginally had them on top of Corwalls, now Heresy IVs. They do a nice job with atmos stuff without standing out as different from the Heritage sound which was my main concern when buying them. In ceiling would prorbaly be better for atmos but if not an option I recommend these without hesitation.

  9. I also have an Aegir that I use with my Klipschorns. Very nice amp in my system but not totally quiet (very faint hiss). Otherwise a great amp, though I use a Crown now on the bass bin and let the Aegir have the K402s. The Aegir loves the mids but the Crown gives better bass detail.

  10. May not be what you are looking for but I have a couple of Integra DHC-80.3 pre/pros (one is currently a spare).  Excellent units with very good dacs that will also decode SACDs. I am currently using one in my Klipschorn/K402 combo.

I paid under $500 for each (possibly well under, I don't remember the exact cost). It also has 5.1 analog inputs.

I have an extra TAD driver (not for sale BTW).

I've been hankering lately to drive up there ......for lunch (Chesters in Hamilton)

If I did that, I'd be happy to bring it with me and let you do a side by side for an hour or so... (perhaps just enough to whet your appetite??)

While you're salivating over that, I'd be stuffing my face with Chesters...

Let me know when you are coming up. It would be pleasure to meet you.

  12. I did also get a B&C DE750TN for my center channel between the K402s. The center HP640 with the EV DH1A driver did not sound right with the K402/K-691 for LR, but matches up much better with the B&C. I plan on trying a couple more horns to get it just right but the B&C seems to be the same driver as the K-691.
