  1. I am not finding them can someone please point me in the right direction. I must put this on my wish list. Thanks
  2. Well I talked to my friend last night again, brought up the home theater again. First he was all like well the wife wants granite counter tops now, but after talking to him getting him pumped up about the sound effects of Episode 4. I think as long as his budget is good we can guarantee a decent budget, and a decent setup. Only thing is it wont be until next year.
  3. This sucks, hope all is well. I don't think there is any way to stop anyone from taking what they want. Best bet is hope to not be home when this kind of thing happens.
  4. Thanks for the reinsurance that everything will be ok. For the record, the pre amp is a Tubes4hifi sp6. It uses two 12ax7s for pre, and I think 12x4 for the rectifier.
  5. So I went into my media room were I have my 2 channel setup in, you know the one I never listen to. Well couple reason I don't listen to it, is one the room is a mess and needs to be recognized, 2 the pre amp doesn't have a phono input, 3 my power amp needs serviced which I discovered last time I wen to listen to music. The mistake you may ask, well I turned on the pre to let it warm up, and when I turned on the power amp I herd a hum so I shut the power amp off. Now thinking I just fired up this tubed pre amp and don't want to turn it on turn it off kind of thing. So I walk a way and forget about, which I know isn't safe luckily these tubes don't generate that much heat so *** wasn't to warm over there. But know you ask how long, well that's the question I really don't know, I would say at least a month but I know I have had it on and off after the 4th of July so no more then 2 months OUCH. I don't know what kind of damage was done and won't until I have the cash to take the power amp in for service, at which time I was going to have the pre amp looked at.
  6. dido, very nice looking room. Love all you have done.
  7. The in walls you usually have the sides pointing at your ears, and the cdt-3800s I think have a tweeter you can point more towards your head. I have the first model of these. http://www.klipsch.com/R-5650-S-II Which if you look at the tweeters they are pointed in different directions, I have these behind me and the sound great, I would think if you had one on each side I think it would sound great. Then use the CDT-3800's and direct the tweeter to the listening position.
  8. A question more directed to the forum. What did people do in the 60's, and 70's with some of those architecture houses when they didn't have a forum like this to come and ask these kind of questions? Make it work I bet, I know I would have.
  9. How about using the north wall, with some false corners. I don't know what your intentions are with the dormers on the left and right side, I all so don't know how it will effect the sound. But not tucking them all the way in but enough to get them out of the way may be more better for aesthetics. Very nice looking room I love the wood beams.
  10. lets see if this works. do you think it worked. ok now I like Klipsch
  11. I wouldnt worry if it had been repaired sounds like if it has, it was done wright.
  12. Sounds like were all on the same page, Jason what you posted is exactly what I was talking about in a round about way. As we were over at friend 1s house with a Jamestown/epson combo that was the one thing I think will work as we both agreed on the picture for the price. Knorbu, what do you have for a system. Would you be willing to let us come over a demo it. I agree with the go big now instead of disappointment later. As far as Klipsch dealers in Omaha we have Best buy, and NFM, and I other private dealer if they are still around. I agree about one of them only out for their profit, they didn't even know Klipsch RF-7 II's were back until I told the rep. I think Bestbuy does better for the Synergy serious as far as display goes then what does NFM does for the Reference line. But knowing he knows that ESP and Marshall are good to his ears, that once he hears a better system then friend 1's system he will be hooked. I am not meaning to say anything bad about those stores, its just hard to hear a good Klipsch setup locally, and some of the "Custom" electronics shops only offer higher end audio not that some of those other audio companies are good I just think that for the price and best bang for the buck and how good they sound Klipsch can not be beet.
  13. I once I read a recorded conversation between a tech support and customer of a new computer. The customer couldn't figure out why the computer had a blank screen. After about a 15-20 min conversation the tech support had them check the plug at the wall. When tech support found out it wasn't even plugged in they told the customer to pack up the computer and take it back to the store, when asked why they basically explained that if your not smart enough to plug it in your not smart enough to own it. Yes I know I am not smart or have very good grammar, I am not saying the original poster isn't smart enough to post pics as it can be difficult your post just made me think of it.
  14. Does it have the EV15WK stamped on the back.
  15. Congrats. Hope you enjoy, and welcome to the forum and Klipsch family
  16. Is that a Marshall half stack there to the right, what amp are you using. I remember my buddies full stack in high school with a JCM1000(I think[^o)]) Man that thing was loud.
  17. Looks like you could use them, do a search in the technical, and updates I am sure there are some good threads on them. Look up false corners, and in closed backs. There are some that have built in closed backs, but thats because the cab is far gone and needs restoring, but its all up to you.
  18. Sorry about the long paragraph since I have been using google chrome its been making everything one long paragraph.
  19. Ok first off I wouldn't necessarily call it a dedicated home theater. Nor is it for me, but I have a friend that was over at another friends house. Just to get this strait there were 3 of us myself friend 1 and his neighbor friend 2. Friend 1 has a Jamestown 120" screen with Optoma projector, and a 7.1 in wall surround sound system in a box setup with a Harman/kardon receiver. This is not a dedicated ht, it is more of a family/rec room kind of atmosphere. Which is what I will end up having(but obviously a different setup. I was talking more along the lines of family/rec room), and Friend 2 will have. Now friend 2 was talking how he would like something like this(this is who is on the topic of wanting a ht on a budget) Now budget from what he threw out was 5000.00 reason I say that is for the fact when he ask'ed how much friend 1's ht cost he thought it would have been around 5000. Now he might be wanting more or even less but judging from is taste he might be able to be pushed a little more. Now don't get me wrong friend 1's setup sounded great tonight sounded fine, but for movies it could be a lot better. Like I said friend 2's taste is a little different then friend 1's and myself. I do know he wants that wow factor, for one he is a big Star Wars/ Zeppelin fan oh wait i myself are fans of these. So I feel he is going to want a little more then friend 1. I think if he goes used on the speakers he could get a good price on some Heritage or Reference. I was thinking he could go with something along the projector/screen setup friend 1 has, Reference RF-52 II or RF-62 II, Onkyo Receiver . Some of those pieces would put him at or around if not a little more then about 5,000.00. Now if we could go used on the speakers he could higher end such as the RF-82 II system. I think the big thing would be to upgrade the sub since his rec room is fairly large. Now why such the long story, well other then the fact I wanted you guys to know a little about my friend and I am bored.
  20. did you do a ohm check to make sure it has a 4 ohm voice coil.
  21. Thanks, djk All three I have are mounted this way, I am sure when I installed them I probably looked up the manual or other pics. Its been a while and was sitting downstairs last night and got to thinking aren't those jbl baby cheeks mounted the other way(I know they are not exactly the same but have some similarities). So it made me wonder are mine suppose to be mounted that way. Thanks for clearing it up.
  22. Its a Selenium hm17-25, I was looking at it. I know it was different on the sides vs the bottom. But I just realized I might have it 90 degrees off.
  23. I think the kpt have a 15 downward firing, I build my own and used the 18" hangman. http://www.hangmanstore.com/Hangman-Products-Professional-French-Cleat-p/cbh.htm
