  1. I know this is a old thread but its a great topic I have recently started on. So quick question, what is it that some of these sound panels actually do. The reason I ask is I had a friend over last night that installs a product in school gymnasium and tells me that this spaghetti looking product is the way to go, plus it also had different shaped and sized pyramids that "control the sound better" he also tells me anything with a flat surface is a waste of time, that sound panels need to have the pyramids structures. Maybe him and I are talking about 2 completely different things you want to do, maybe I am confused on what to do. Artto I have read some of your old post on this maybe I need to go back and read it again so I understand. thanks Nick
  2. Yeah, it's cause I'm ADD and was just never diagnosed. LOL Thats funny my mom had me tested and at the time the doctors just told her i was hyper active, my wife says different.
  3. Youtman, you know for being the forum police you sure do like to change the subject alot. Just messing with you, you are always helpful. Carl, I found the site and managed to move around, for the prices I like the fis, also If 2 18s might be better it would actually be a better price or if I could make the 4 15s work that would be good as well. nick
  4. I have been down this road many times.
  5. Nice looking setup man, glad to see you back with Khorns, how close are they together, mine are pretty close but I dont think that close how do like the imaging. Nick
  6. Are those white sound panels along the wall, looks nice. I bet thats a lot of bass.
  7. Well I ordered my table tuba plans today the original and the long style, this is just something for fun to try but not left out for ideas. I also posted a thread on the Cult fo the Ib sub page here, Carl were do I find these drivers you speak of. http://ibsubwoofers.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=projects&action=display&thread=1778. This project will be in research and shopping mode until after the up coming holidays. I should start some construction here and there but will not get to serious until about Jan. But let the fun begin for now. thanks to all who replied I will keep updates and pics. Nick.
  8. Thanks for sharing seems there's more than one way to skin a cat is yours what they consider a line array why did you not do a manifold style. Hopefully I have time to post tonight for the first time over in cult of the ib sub forum. I will drop thomas a line. Maybe get his input. Thanks for your time.
  9. That's why I was looking at that one cause the bad was 2.27 so 4 of those wouldn't exceed the 10 times rule but sounds like I will have to find a 15. How do you feel about what the site says about doing at least 4 times the vas though it wouldn't be a true ib but you will still get great lows. Also what is considered low fs. Do you have pics of yours and little detail on operation.
  10. Cecaa, you have mentioned this to me before in another thread, since than I have been highly interested in one but was having trouble finding a location to place the sub. Then I got to thinking of my false wall why couldn't I make a full enclosure this would be about 100 cubic feet maybe more. So I started researching drivers based off of recommendations in the basic facts and found the Dayton 12 that looks like it would be a canidate I just need to ask some questions the ib sub forum. Psg I am also looking at the table tuna, for the price it wouldn't be bad to build and if all else fails I can use upstairs. Nick
  11. I am really thinking about pulling the trigger on the plans for the tt now they have the long style for both the tt and the tht. I mean for 14.95 I don't know why I am thinking sounds like they could be built at low cost plus I all ready have a amp. I think I might get both plans for the table tuba. still will take any ideas how to handle this space these just might be a fun build. Thanks for pointing these out guys. Nick
  12. I could even do 2 of these, and just lay them on their side. And build a platform for the center have one on each side. http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_info.php?cPath=2_136&products_id=907 This is my problem so many ideas, so little time, well not really it will take a while to save. One thing is I don't have to have them 6' 6" long they could be shorter. I was looking at the dts 20 from Danley Its a little to long and the port only on one side bugs me I know with this much pressure from this thing I don't think I would notice it for the back or even front row.
  13. I would start with this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cradle-Filth-Principle-Evil-Made-Flesh-Vinyl-2-LP-/130582753764?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item1e6756b1e4 or maybe this http://www.ebay.com/itm/SLAYER-VINYL-CONFLICT-180-GRAM-10-LP-SET-SEALED-/250908516590?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item3a6b5020ee or even this http://www.amazon.com/Vulgar-Display-Power-Gram-Vinyl/dp/B0036BDQ6U/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1318464980&sr=8-4 glad to hear the table turned out. have fun. now.
  14. Sorry if it seems sketchy(most of my post do if you have ever read one)But I was at work and writing the post on my phone. But yea Mustang thats about what I was doing is raising the LaScala about 2 feet. The measurements were based off of the size of the LaScala I guess 6 more inches out wouldn't be to bad. I am working from scratch here so there are many options, PSG I have looked at some of the tapped horns and to be honest I don't know were to start with a diy sub enclosure(not to say I am not capable of building one I mean my dad is a tv repair man and he has a awesome set of tools), I do how ever want to keep it like a stage kind of presences. A couple of things to consider is I will have K-horns for mains so they need to keep up, which sounds like there is lots of subs out there that will. I just see a lot of people using the Tuba ht with them and I think someone around here has even built a IB sub under their room and had a manifold under their LaScala, I know the only way for me to build one under the floor would be to tear up concrete. But I have seen some fellas on the forum build line array looking subs in their home theater. Endless possibilities it will take the time to find the right one for the cause. Keep the ideas coming fellas, and ladies if you are around.
  15. So I don't know if I should post this here or powered subs but I might also post over in the ibsub website but I was thinking of building a stage about 2'x 2'x6'6", that my center channel which is a Lascala will sit on. So I was seeing if any one has any good ideas about using this stage for a box for a couple of subs. Just throwing some ideas around I even thought about building a false wall out the depth of the lascala and put one of those tht subs everyone has been building but I don't like how far they will stick out. Thanks Nick
  16. I am going to throw my 2 cents in being that I have and am in this boat, For Iron I would at least make sure the unit works and could play vinyl now. That way u are not dumping money in something you may not like. I will say that as far as other sources I do like cds just as much except for the fact it is fun swapping out records and they do have a great sound. I don't think at this point dd or bd tables are going to help you judge the sound and or quality of the sound watch the needles and carts. For the both of you watch cl there are always deals on there for good easy to work with. I started with technics bd that was a thrift store find I put a 10 dollar belt and 30.00$ cart that had me at 50.00$ for the set up which pushed me to pick up a Thorens for 100$ here on the forum. I also answered a cl ad for a sansui system for 10$ which had a technics table with it. So keep your eyes out there are deals out there that will get u in for nothing. Good luck on a fun road. Nick
  17. I thought you were selling the Lascalas, anywho if you get the Carver pre bring it over we'll see what Bigcliff is talking about with that Carver pre matched with a Kenwood basic, and Fortes. Good luck hope it all works out for you know matter what route you go. Nick
  18. Does anyone also know if the Squeezbox apps work on the older models like the duet.
  19. Has anyone compared Sons, or Squeezebox. Does the Squeezebox receive internet wirelessly, because if so that would be a winner over the Sonous player I believe they need to be pluged into the internet or have the bridge plugged in to a wireless router. I was going to go with a Sonos but know I am looking at the squeezebox. Nick
  20. PSG, how did you mount your heresies on the wall that is what I am working towards.
  21. Thanks Gary that should give me some good ideas.
  22. Looking for some of the old post Mainly pertaining to foam pipe insulation for tight corner fit and false corners. I know these topics have had several post before, thought I would see if anyone could point me in the direction of some good reading.
  23. anyone ever used one of these. I bought this unit with one of the cl buys I think I got a technics record player, Sansui reciever and tape deck with the stand. So far I like how it sounds probably one of the best cd players I have owned, not that is saying much but sounds good to me considering I only paid 10.00 for the hole lot. Just posting my finds and 2 cents for what this disc player is worth. I noticed that the transport or slider was different like the laser or some wierd thing in the center were the disc spins. Nick
  24. Nice setup if it wasn't for the pie badges would have thought you stole my Cornwalls.
  25. I agree this will give me a good weekend project I wonder if I should update caps before doing so you know I could always customize the Heresies with the tweeter and it would be a better match
