  1. Very nice looking amps Harry. Thanks for the advice on the EL 34 M, I will look into them.
  2. I have a forum member who is willing to send me some Amperex Bugle Boy 12-at7,s to try. I am also looking at some Gold Lion KT 77,s to replace the JJ E34L as I have been told they are very musical.
  3. The AA/A is simply becomes a standard type AA with jumpers in one position and a standard type A with the jumpers in the other position. Crossover to the tweeter is 6khz for both configurations. The A/4500 rolls off the midrange at 4500 and brings in the tweeter at 4500. This one should not be used with the K-77 tweeter. Bob Crites Thanks Bob, thats what I thought I was just looking to confirm it.
  4. I think one of the amps has a bad regulator. It shuts down after 30 minutes max ! I have left the other amp playing for 2 more hours with no problems
  5. I have been told that the KT 77 tubes are very musical. I have KT 88,s in my pCats and really enjoy the sound, now if I can just keep them both up and running for a longer period of time I will be a happy camper !
  6. I have never changed out any tubes yet so I dont have a clue what different tubes sound like. The imput tubes are Telefunkin EEC 81.
  7. I am using Crites A/AA xovers and would like to switch them over to A. Seems like I have read that when using A- 4500 you need to change the tweeters. Will that be an issue here in this case ?
  8. I have been listening to tubes now for about 8 months. I have aquired some pretty nice monoblock amps and have heard the differences in sound that each one produces. I am back now on the first set of monoblocks that I bought. Every since I bought them which was 4 months after demoing them they just have not sounded the same. I know the fella I bought them from told me he put a new set in about a month before I got them but I am not convinced they are new tubes. Anyway I am wanting tp purchase new tubes and would like to get some feedback before I do. These are 35 watt monoblocks with JJ E34L tubes in them. I am looking for a better choice and your help would be gretly appreciated. Don
  9. Looks like a Cornwall I but I am not certain what a 1.5 looks like on the inside. Post a pic of the tag showing serial number.
  10. You didn't reply on the site that I can see. Heres the link ! http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?cspkr&1299380396&openflup&2&4#2
  11. I disagree as I had mine in corners and they never imaged until I put backs on them and toed them out ! The bass is great.
  12. Hey Joe, Give them little time ! When I got my first set I didnt like them either. I doubt them are producing any imaging the way they are and all your hearing are the 2 horns. The backs I use are very simp;e to make if you have access to a table saw. I havent installed the piece that goes over the baseboard cut outs on the tailboard yet as I need to find some weather stripping to seal them.
  13. Why would putting backs on them decrease the value. That does not make any sense.
  14. Eye kant deeside iph Steve iz pullin hour leggs. Eye chooze two beeleave its sarkasem. So far Neil you are the only one who has been able to communicte with SSynder !
  15. Congrats! Now enjoy! Good job Cornman! The rewards will be fantastic.
  16. If you think you have bad corners you will hear bad corners !
  17. All of mine have false backs on them and I wouldnt have it any other way. None of my rooms are large so now I am able to tune the soundstage to the room amd have my seating where I want it. I get all the bass I ever got with a passive pre no adjustments.
  18. The flat side screws to the speaker. The angled side should have chrome buttons on it and recessed holes for the screws.
  19. This set came from Clermontcop but I dont know if they had the Crites upgarde.
  20. I agree ! I just recently hooked my grandaughter up with a pair of these and some Adcom gear ( all remote controlled ) for christmas and she just loves them. She is only 8 and just loves to come to my house and listen to old records as she has never seen them before.
  21. You must first hoard Klipsch speakers before you can make that statement ! I have owned alot of Klipsch and never lost a dime yet. My previous hobby for 30 years was drag racing. When you purchased expensive parts for your racecar and made one pass down the track those parts now were only worth half what you paid for them. With Klipsch speakers I have purchased and listened to for 2 years I can sell and get every dime back, to me that is most definately SMART MONEY !
