  1. Your LaScallas are 1981 ! Link to date codes..... http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/103886/1048788.aspx#1048788
  2. You guys know everything including Thebes ! I am looking to get some feedback on these components. I have always wanted some Mc gear but cant afford tubes yet. I have Chorus, Cornwall, Belles and Khorns so I know its not my speakers. I am using big Sansui and Pioneer receivers but I dont think it is all about power. Looking to see if the quality of Mc sound is better than the others. Thanks in advance, Don
  3. " Clamp them down really tight and check them after a few miles of driving. " I think I would spring for the U-Haul and get on with it. IMHO it is the only safe way to go. The KHorns I bought were perfect and I would have spent alot more to keep from getting a scratch or chipped veneer
  4. [quote user="Daddy Dee When I went to Mississippi to pick up my Khorns I rented a 5x8 Yall Haul trailer. Local rental is about 20 bucks. It's also a piece of cake to load Khorns, intact, into the trailer. The trailer floor is only about 8 or so inches off the ground. Khorns ride upright with a bit of cord to secure them. Blankets, of course are still needed. I had help from the seller loading them. Unloaded them by my self with no problem. Daddy Dee is dead on with his suggestion. I have done this 3 times and not had a single problem. I also went to Home Depot and bought 2 sheets of 3/4" foam board to put under and against the wall. I covered them with U-Haul blankets and straped them to the wall. Make sure the trailer door is tall enough that you dont have to take them apart. Remove the grills is all I had to do. It is well worth the money !!
  5. Quartets,Quartets and Quartets. No need for a sub with them !
  6. DJK, You are absolutely correct, they have the SP12B speakers in them. I am without a doubt a Klipsch addict but when I saw these I just loved the look. I didnt know anything about them. They came with a small tube amp which I have sold. Later I learned that they came as a DYI speaker. Buyer chose only to put the SP12B in them. They have no other speakers or crossovers in them. I have them priced below what I gave for them. I replaced them with a set of Chorus II with Heresey II on top. Don
  7. Are these for real ! link - http://cgi.ebay.com/pair-KLIPSCH-K77-horn-tweeters-double-voice-coil_W0QQitemZ130311658055QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVintage_Electronics_R2?hash=item1e572e1a47&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1234%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50
  8. In my opinion buy a set of Quartets. You can find a pair for $300 to $400 that will shake your house but not shake it down. To me its the best bang for the bucks !
  9. I dont have tubes but I do have Chorus I,s and Chorus II,s and I think the II,s have much better bass. I swap out between a Pioneer SX-1250 and a Sansui 990db. They both have alot of muscle down low !!
  10. I am now into stacking Heresy,s on top of Chorus,s. I actually like this combination better !
  11. Hey Russ, I have stacked LaScala I,s and yes it is truley a wall of sound !
  12. I think the Chorus II has gotten silent recognition by not seeing any for sale ! I looked for 18 months to buy a set and couldnt find any. Just recently when times got tough have I seen them for sale. I found 3 sets in 2 weeks and bought all 3 sets. Nothing better than a pair of Chorus II,s and a Sansui 9090db. imho !
  13. Hey Thebes, Quote: Remind me to send The Twins buy to look over your amp. Gently clean the dirt off the tubes and twist them slowly under a light. Watch their lips get moist. The Twins have a very strong reaction to tubes. I guess it's because I told them they were made out diamonds. You are so funny !! Thanks for all the info, it helps alot. I have tried the amp on the Electro Voice speakers and it sounds pretty good. Almost has a reverb sound to it, not sure why. I just took it as a nostalgia thing. I tried it on my heresys and quartets this morning but they didnt seem to like it. There was very little bass being produced which is my favorite part of the music. For now I guess the amp and ElectroVoice speakers will stay in my bedroom where it sounds the best. Do you think the twins will come there for a listen ? They can do what ever they want with the tubes if I can watch ! I will play around with this amp some more. I must find some info so I can get new parts and try to improve the sound. Thanks, Don
  14. c&s If you look at some of the first pictures I posted it shows there are only 4 imputs ,2 phono and 2 tuner. I have only tried the phono so far. I do not have just a tuner just receivers, amps, preamps and phono. I also have only listened to it on the Electro Voice speakers. There was a fella here today picking up some Khorns I sold sold him who is into tubes. He really liked the little amp. He said all exept the rectifier looked like new tubes and the sockets they plug into looked new. I am going to try this amp out on some Heresy speakers tomorrow. If they sound good I will keep moving it up to bigger and bigger speakers until I get to the Khorns. I am almost afraid to do that because I read alot of signatures here on the forum that say Khorns and Tubes. I only 3 months ago got hooked on 70 receivers. (sansui, marantz, pioneer) The thought of already getting hooked on tubes is spookey ! The ad did say the amp sounded great. I went to clean the bass, treble and volume controls and they were cleaner than most of the 70,s equipment. The amp & the speaker produced a different sound than I am used to, I liked it. Well see what the klispch sound like and what the experts say. I am really looking forward to hearing what Thebes has to say. Don
  15. Hey Bruce, Thanks for the reply and advice. The only other imputs are marked tuner, is that going to work for the cd player ? Which tube would you replace the EX81 with ? I am posting some more pics. Can you tell me which parts are the power supply caps. I am in way over my head on this amp as I know nothing about tube amps ! Don
  16. last pic I have others but I thought these would get the ball rolling
  17. I recently bought a set of ElectroVoice Marquis speakers mainly just because I loved their appearance. The guy had a Electro-Tone S-1515 tube amp for a few dollars more so I took it. It has EL-84 Power tubes,EZ-81 Rectifier tube and ECC-83 Preamp tube. It seems to work fine but since this is my first tube amp I am wanting to research it. It has double controls on each knob and I am not sure how that works. I am also looking for a missing knob. Your help and info will be greatly apprecieated. I am also attatching some pictures. Don
