  1. Alot of it is room factor. One thing I will say is that I was never impressed with the way the Onkyo 805 handled anything musically. It was a solid performed in the home theater arena and that is it. Many fellow forum members have come to a similiar agreement in regards to the 805, hopefully some other will chime in. As cask has suggested , you need to reposisition your speakers if at all possible to find where they sound best, then find a way to move the furniture around the speakers. The possibility that you damaged the speakers is there, but I think the chances are pretty low as the RF7 have a high peak power rating. if the loud passage was brief and rectified soon after I think the speakers will survive.
  2. Yes joe, on all the devices I've tested with the mic works. The issues mainly exist in how the phone and hardware handle the button presses. Beyond that the headphones and mic work fine. I can't recall any device that doesn't handle the button press to answer and end a call, however, don't base your purchase on my words alone. I've only used the mic on occasion, the sound quality is quite good given their price point.
  3. The galaxy nexus also sounds pretty good to boot. It unfortunately doesn't sport the same quality wolfson dacs as some previous Samsung models. Overall the functionality of the head phones is mostly there with the gnexus. Let me know if you have any specific questions. Triple click is the main issue.
  4. Some of the same issues are present as with previous samsung phones.
  5. I think the console is a great idea, it looks nice. Will be interested in how it performs. I also think it's awesome that Klipsch and AudiVox are bringing Palladium manufacturing home. After all the worrying we initially had with the buy out....some thingsseem to be working out for the best.
  6. it was by no means a through test. I did the calibration with the RS meter and loaded up the calibration file. I did not calibrate the sound card in my laptop, so that could be why the drop is there at 5k. just thought i would play around with it and see what could be done. My equipment has NO ability to alter and sound, just direct, so no internal EQing or anything,
  7. with that kind of cash i would with out a doubt get 2 PB13 Ultras, they put out some serious SPL and the 13U's sound great.
  8. I think if you are satisfied with what you are getting from a single 308 and you just want more dB's then I would suggest getting another 308. The 2 Hz you will gain wont be significant IMO. as Bill said if you want signficant more output you probably should look outside the klipsch brand.
  9. I was at a local store the other day listening to RF 7II's ran through a HK 3490, with no sub at moderate levels and it sounded pretty darn good. the 3490 was like 345.00 , so depending on your budget and setup it may be a nice addition. The problem you will run into by purchasing a new amp is that a new pre/pro or avr is in order. I don't know i the Onkyo you have has preouts. so keep that in mind as well.
  10. My wife is pretty understanding of this addiction, that doesn't however mean she approves of it. Larger speakers unfortunately sound better. If at all possible I would store them away if absolutely necessary. I would do everything in my power NOT to sell any of my speakers. I have a relatively small room 25 ft x18ft. I have in that room a pair of RF 7's, La Scala's , 2 SVS subs, and the rest of the gear. My kids ( We have 3 little ones) love to listen and jam out as much as I do, they occasionally tell me it's too loud and I turn it down. This is one thing I love and my wife has to accept that. If she made me sell any of my speakers I would make her sell her car. That's it plain and simple. We share everything but my speakers are MINE. She only appreciates them when we go some where else and hear music or watch movies.
  11. The more I look at it and try to make sense of it the worse it actually looks, but again i don't know what the heck i'm really looking at.
  12. I noticed the "capture" button right at the top
  13. So i've recently started to play with REW and was hoping some of the members could put forth some of the information they have gathered while playing with the program. I've been reading the help and how to files in the program but some of it still doesn't make sense. So far I've downloaded the calibration file for my Radio Shack meter. I had the neccessary cables to hook everything up and briefly ran a "Measure Now" Log sweep from 0Hz -20kHz. My room seems to measure better than I thought but I have a sharp drop between 5kHz to 6kHz then it gently rises back to 20kHz but is still significantly lower than from 0Hz - 5kHz. is this because of the C-weighting ? Should I not attempt to run a "Full Range" sweep test with the current mic? I'm unsure how to pull the image file of the test to post it as of yet, I know I can "Print screen" but i'd rather just pull the graph so you guys can let me know what you think. I'm also unsure of whether I actually calibrated the mic and program properly, what I did was set a level on my pre/pro, and adjusted the REW display to match the meter and hit finished. It then gives me some other mumbo jumbo that I can't quite make sense of what it means. Thanks guys.
  14. looks like a wire hanging in front of the speaker. The dented dust cap is only a cosmetic issue, does NOT effect performance.
  15. HTC evo 4, I will take a look tomorrow if I get a chance. If I have music on my windows media player, I know they might not be fully losseless or as much as they would have been if I put them all on winamp but if I decide to move all my libary that is on WMP to winamp is there a easy way to do so and will it change any of the format. thanks just import the directories into winamp nick, you don't need to worry about it changing the file format, if the format isn't supported right off (which would be odd) just look around for a plugin.
  16. I'm sure many will chime in shortly in regards to tube integrated's. I've had no experience with tube equipment but from much reading and differing opinions a good SS state device may also be the improvement you're looking for. I'd like to give tubes a try but with the added cost of tube equipment SS seems to be the best investment.
  17. android app to control itune : http://phandroid.com/2008/10/09/android-itunes-remote-control-sweet/ I prefer winamp, iTunes is a PITA. WMC i've never liked.
  18. As said in the other thread, each system would have to be assigned it's own IP address for the phone to operate 2 systems via winamp.
  19. what kind of phone do you have Nick? I can control winamp from my android phone and tablet. there's a couple of programs available in the Android Market. "Remote Control" and "Playa Control", they both have their respective plugins and work pretty well. Your library will show up on your phone, lets you queue up songs, create playlists and adjust the volume. It's not as fully featured as winamp but pretty cool. let me know if you need any help of have any questions.
  20. Let us know how the empire works out for you. I can not offer a direct comparison, but if you are like the rest of us, which it sounds like you are, settling and wondering "What if" will in the long run cost you more money. I have a pb13 ultra and a pb 12 plus/2 and the ultra wins hands down in sound quality and output. I know there are "better" subs out there, but the price difference is worth it in the long run. I do NOT have the new sledge amp so I can not offer any opinoins on the difference, between the new and old ultras.
  21. the dave matthews and tim reynolds is great. John Mayer where the lights are (or something), How to be a megs star Blue Man Group (great for the kids), Pink Funhouse (the wife and kids like it). The Big Four (Metallica , Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeth), these are among my favorites as well.
  22. I think between 600 and 750, but many owners will tell you they would have a hard time selling them at that price. The RF 5's are in a precarious situation, given their size and close specs to lesser models. They sold new for approx 800 a speakers, they really are an incredible speaker given their size. I've seen them go for as little as 400 but this depends and the buyer and seller, 400 is an absolute steal, 600 - 700 would be 50% off their original value. the Problem with being 600 -700 opens the door to other speakers for just a little more,RF 7s can be had for between 800 - 1000 la scala's the same. You've got KLF 20, 30's , chorus II and fortes can all be grouped in the same price range so they're in a bad posistion. I know I wouldn't let mine go for less than 700, I would hope to get more else where other than the klipsch forums.
  23. My question for you that have experimented with multiple sub setups what is your experience and preference in placement? Right now I have them separated and they sound good. I'm not really concerned about the added db I would get by stacking them, In there current placement I already gain 5 db when they're both running. just looking for any extra input from you guys here. The subs are a SVS PB13 Ultra and a SVS PB12 Plus/2.
