  1. I have an older Sony Wega 32" TV (huge and heavy). It is housed inside a large cabinet. The KLF-20's sit beside the cabinet and the C7 is atop the TV inside the cabinet. This configuration has been this way for at least a year. No issues at my house. I actually have pictures of it on this site somewhere. KLF-20's are truly "legendary" speakers.
  2. In my opinion (and it is simply my opinion), KLF20's mated with a C7 is about as good as it gets. One can pay more, but legends are "legendary". Enjoy!!
  3. Hang in there. You'll love it when you get it. The C7 is one of the best vocal center's out there.
  4. The post above of the brand new in box is too good to pass up. Not sure what your budget is elitedemo, but the opportunity to gat a new KLF-C7 is very rare. A $350-$450 (incl shipping) offer would be in the ballpark imo. The clarity a C7 center brings to the 20's is surprising. They were definately made for each other. I paid $336 incl shipping and paypal, and gladly would have paid $375-$400. Mine is literally like new - very fortunate find for me. Best of luck - it seems it is smiling on you.
  5. KLF-20's are wonderful speakers. The rear panel can separate from the cabinet wood (mine at the top corner), however it is an easy glue fix. Of course when you play them at reasonable sound levels, the separation/vibration is a non-issue. It does kind of freak you out the first time you hear it. Oh sh!t did I just blow a speaker? Naw, just a little cabinet rattle. Some Gorilla glue and it's back to Rockin'... KLF-20's Rock.
  6. Much appreciated. That was the way is seemed correct to me, and as I plan to stop into a local store to check out a pair, I did not want to appear uninformed.
  7. Glad to read that you like the C7. Certainly give the SS-1's a try. http://www.klipsch.com/na-en/products/ss-1-specifications/ I personally would try to get them up on stands near ear level. These may work for you. Unlikely you can get the bass effect like you would from a set of towers - however everyone has their own criteria. Enjoy your speakers - hope the UPS follow up works out for you. fwiw - you are probably already spacing your 20's a bit from the wall as they are rear ported and need a bit of space for the resonance to develop. If you ever consider rear/surround towers, front port designs work for me. The rear port in the front speakers with front ports in the rear/side speakers seems to optimize the bass allowing for the use of a lesser sub. But each has what sounds good to them. Enjoy.
  8. 1. You will love the KLF-C7 mated with the 20's. Strong, clear sound and the C7 has perhaps the best vocal sound of any center I've heard. 2. Upgrades - with rear towers, I am not sure if one even needs a sub. To me, I get plenty of bass from my speakers. The sub in my system is pretty anemic and still plenty for my listening room (22'x22'x22'). I would truly ask you to consider (as was posted above) Towers for your surrounds/rears. The depth added (especially in 5 channel stereo) is full and rich. They don't even have to be Klispch (although most would likely prefer that). A myriad of receivers cane easily drive those 20's and C7. If you like the Marrantz, then get it - after you get the surrounds. 3. I'd say the rear towers would be the most bang for the buck, with the sub second and the receiver 3rd.
  9. Not trying to rain on anyone's parade... Some states have a "use tax" which one is supposed to pay (most don't) for items purchased from out of state (read internet/TV/etc). IF you are one of those audited, please note that any purchases where sales tax was not paid, could be considered an "error" in your taxes.
  10. I run it on 7 Channel Stereo for everything now. I used to switch to SciFi for movies but actually prefer the 7 channel. With my floor standing speaker setup - seated between the 2 rear Monitor 70's with the Klipsch 20's/C7 facing me - it is truly a wonderful room filling sound. My room has 12' walls with the ceiling directing sound to the seating position like a concert hall. I used to have a set of bookshelfs (7.1) in the loft above/behind, but sold those. Awaiting a nice deal on a set of KSP S-6's or another set of KLF-20's. But I am really quite happy running 7 channel through my 5.1
  11. I see that you have whitewashed (pickled) hardwood floors and white walls with a contemporary stand. Lots of glass/chrome etc. Wuzzers suggestion may work and the KLF box is certainly strong enough, although your base may overhang the edges. I think I would either consider a new stand that incorporates another shelf for the C-7 or place the C-7 on the top shelf, a glass plate on the top of the C-7 (any galss shop can cut you one to your neeeded size) and then the TV Monitor Base on the glass. A couple of round felt pads adheared to the bottom of the glass to prevent direct contact with the C-7 box and you are home free. My C-7 rests on top of my TV and just squeezes in. But I have a very old schoold Tube TV (Sony Wega).
  12. I run mine in 7 Ch stereo. Plenty of sound for my room 22'x22'x22'
  13. My first mower was a Snapper 21" walk behind side discharge rear bagger - circa 1978/79. I still have that mower. I've replaced the bag 3 times, the wheels 3 times, blades and even the engine once. Only thing original is the aluminum mowing deck, frame and throttle cable. My rider is a STIGA. 16hp B&S Vanguard, rear engine, X frame, front mulching mowing deck that tilts up for easy cleaning, and uses a 30" snowblower attachment for the winter. Truly a 12 month tractor. Has edgers, wheel weights, tire chains, plow, even sweepers as attachments. Great machine. http://www.stiga-online.com/
  14. Was upgrading an old pair of Fishers and went to a local higher end stereo store (Stereo Front Row - now out of business). Spent about 2.5 hours listening to every set of speakers they had and going back and forth - back and forth. Finally settled on a mismatched pair (Med oak finish) of KLF-20's (floor models on clearance) and never looked back. Stuffed them behind the seats of a1988 2 seat Buick Reatta. I didn't know squat about good vs average vs poor speakers - only what sounded best to me. Been a Legend head ever since.
  15. I am happy with my Yamaha.
  16. I realize this is nearly sacrilege here - but I really like my Monitor 70 towers as rear/side surrounds. The KSP-S6's are the engineered surround speaker for Ledgends, however untill I get a set - I'm quite happy with the Polk Monitor 70's. Just trying to expand your options and possibly place you in position to score a great deal. Many have posted that the side/rear surrounds are the least necessary to have a "match". In 7 channel stereo, my 70's are quite acceptable with the KLF-20's and C7 up front. Personally, I'd prefer another set of Legend 20's but...
  17. I cannot answer your direct question on the KSP-C6 vs a KLF-C7. My upgrade went from a Bose center channel to the KLF-C7 to match the KLF-20"s and it was night and day. Personally, if you are happy with your C6 then keep it. However - if you are like me, just knowing that the engineers at Klipsch designed the C7 to go with the Legend series, would always have me wanting the "intended" speaker and I would want one - untill I got one. I sold an entire stereo components system (Turntable, Tuner, Dual tape deck, CD player, Amplifier, w/ rack), 2 Bose 201's w/ stands, Bose center channel, and a Polk sub woffer to pay for my KLF-C7. The recipient of that system was elated (to get all that gear for $300) and I was thrilled with my engineered matched front. On the other hand, although I know the KSP-S6's are the proper surrounds for the Legend series, I am very happy with my Monitor 70 towers as surrounds. I am looking for a set of S6's but am in no hurry to find them.
  18. 1. I have no dog in this fight so it really doesn't matter to me what your final decision is. 2. Integrity and telling the truth is paramount (in my opinion) - regardless of the consequences. 3. As other have suggested, there are compromise positions - mainly extolling the particular elements that make one cable a different price point than another. 4. Be factual on the particulars. Tell the truth on the particulars. Do not intentionally mislead. Give the buyer enough information to make up their own mind. It is afterall, their money.
  19. Run your system in "Phantom" mode - eliminating the center altogether. As you already know, the Legend match to your 20's is the C7. If you are running a 7.1 system - you might consider using your C7 as a single rear like a 6.1 setup. KLF-20 mains on Phantom, surrounds, and C7 as a lone rear.
  20. I experience this when I am in HT 7.1 Sci Fi mode and all channels are independent. When the same movie is in 7 channel Stereo, the dialogue volume is just fine. I actually prefer my movies in 7 channel stereo - all speakers fill the room, action sounds are impactful, music is great and dialogue is clear, clean and crisp.
