  1. Ever wonder if new caps are worth it?? I think so!!!
  2. Benny the Cat: http://www.nonstick.com/sounds/Benny/ltby_003.mp3
  3. Believe me and PrestonTom ...If you have never heard Klipschorns in action, it's worth a long drive to find some!!! I spent the day out at Groomlakearea51 yesterday and playing with his "Wall Of voodoo" First Heresy monster tweeks.....Boy those sound good!!! Second act....add forte II's on roids and oh my god awesome..... third act......add bose 901's....hey this is the exact application that they were made for...it fills in all the holes and the sound stage is all around with out losing any musicality... this is so friggin cool!! Finally....shut every thing else down and on come the vintage klipschorns........It's as if god worked through PWK's hands......unbelivable........I'm saving all my lunch money and prepping my wife...one day!!!!
  4. I just got some nicely modded Corn I's (crites xovers, etc) I have two systems and been playing with both ...A Vintage Mcintosh 2505 (50 wpc) and a newly acquired vintage sansui Au7900 (85wpc)... While both have a slightly different sound (the Sansui is more transparent and musical) I can't get the darn amps over 9:00 or 10:00 with out shaking the pictures off the walls. Relatively low power (for SS) high quality amps that just rock my world. I too get a bad case of G.A.S. and want a new Mcintosh Mc252 (250 WPC) but I ask my self "Self?.... will it sound any better with more head room? bigger....better...prettier..more more more!!!" I think I'm going to put my cash into a nice set of Klipschorns and some very high quality low powered tubes in the future and right now worry about getting the best quality sources that I can afford. I feel your pain G.A.S. is a bitc%, to bad they don't make a tums for that! well they do ....just sit back and enjoy the awesome system that you have right now .
  5. Enough hard core! Hows about some good old fashion boudoir shots to get a feller in the mood?
  6. I've always liked BBW's myself
  7. What I have done and I believe is the only way you can with these type of consumer HT units is to go from the preamp out on the back of the pioneer for the channels you wish to hook up an external power amp. So you are effectively only using the preamp of the pioneer which should be a balanced output. The set up feature on the pioneer works like a charm and will easily account for what ever levels your power-amp is putting out....if it has gain controls I suggest you set them and leave them after running the setup program.
  8. I have that unit and have been playing with the fronts ....I hooked up my Mcintosh 2505 using the L/R front pre outs on the pioneer with Heresy II's and sounded really decent for 2 channel, but was a little off on the center (using an academy).....Hopefully I'll take home my cornwalls this weekend and see how that fits. You may want to get a multi channel or three monos so the fronts all have the same flavor.............I'm just going to use the pioneer for HT and A/b my front cornwalls with tubes for two channel as I'm not thrilled with the pre on the pioneer for critical listening.
  9. Biggest disappointment......... Steely Dan Last fall, Partly because the venue sucks (Hard Rock in Hollywood Florida) I've seen the Dan about 12 times and For a band that never toured in there prime, they sure are making up for it now......three tours in the last 18 months alone! Becker is propped up on a stool and looks like he needs an oxygen mask, cant even sing Dirty Work so the back up girls take lead and it's a sin....... Fagen, looks like he's staring in Weekend at Bernies, I keep looking for the puppeteers strings up in the cat walk ! half the show he's walking around playing a stupid Melotica. They sound OK but only because they have a first rate horn and rhythm section to pull off some serious magic............... I love Steely Dan...... but I think it's time to hang it up.
  10. Ohhh, when Deborah Harry made James Woods burn her with the cigarette in Videodrome...........that was exquisite .....OK, I'm reveling to much here [6][6][6]
  11. Anyway you look at it Fortes are awesome!!!! I was with Groomlake a few days ago and his "wall of Voodoo" And just the fortes alone sound sooooo good. I think I'm going to pull the heresy's from my office into family room for HT 7.1 surrounds and replace with some Fortesf or my office !
  12. Are you suggesting NEW tweeters or diaphragms ... or changing the tweeters to some other type ? Just suggesting new K-75 ....I put in new k-76 in my heresy II's ..sounds great....but I've heard that the Bob Crites titanum tweeters are very nice (if he even makes them for the forte's???) ....havn't had a listen for myself so I can't say either way.
  13. Hey Big daddy, Thats Bodhi, my male. I also have two females. I need to hurry up and breed them, so they can earn their keep. One "Pet" puppy goes for a pair of mint mint mint Klipschorns...delivered! A show quality pup should go for the khorns, plus a mid level tube amp [][][][][] But for now they're just making me broke with vet bills and show fee's........gotta love them though[][][][][]
  14. Also a great mod is new tweeters Did that to my Heresy II's and the sing even before the crossovers are done.
  15. I thought of mating my bulldog to my Cornwalls....that way I'd get a bunch of Corndogs.....uggggggh I know that was bad.

  17. The detail is incredible, and the corners are knife-edge sharp. I know people have posted to the contrary, but the BASS on these heresy II's is fantastic. We made sure that the cabinets were tightly sealed, that the gaskets were seated, and the the drivers were tightly screwed down. simple and very very effective...a 10 minute mod that costs nothing, to dramatically improve the bass resopnse. Can't wait to get my Cornwall II's to match!!!
  18. Here are my Heresy's that Groomlake has so lovingly restored. These puppies are beautiful!!!!!! They are once again WO and I think as nice or nicer than when new.
  19. Don't listen to any of these guys....they are crap.......how's about ten bucks to take them off your hands [6]
  20. Me Three, I have the Elite VSX-92THX and find it to be very capable in my situation. I have HT in the family room and can't properly position all speakers, (going for all heritage, just need 2 more corns for rears). The set up is a dream w/ the VSX-92, very very easy to work with and does sound great! I had a denon 3808ci for about a week and returned it...found it to be somewhat dark and muddy....but the shape of my room probably had as much to do with sonics as the reciever. For me the Pioneer hit the nail on the head the first time out. I'm bringing my Mcintosh setup out of the office and I will try using the preamp outs to run the fronts (cornwalls as soon as there finished) but I will probably just plug/ unplug the bananas and keep the 2 channel separate.
