  1. Here's another take: Pick up an MC 2105. It has the same internals as the 2100, but has an off/on switch and those damn gorgeous, blue meters. Having to plug/unplug my 2100 to turn it on and off drove me bananas. Some guys will disagree, but I've had great luck with MX113 preamp/tuners over the years. It's not a C32, but it's also half the cost. Jeff
  2. Thank you for the kind words, Lyle. You're terrific to work with, too. Jeff
  3. Lol, I don't think I've ever listened to mine at those levels, but I don't doubt their capabilities one bit! I've been 2 channel only with these subs, 1/3 amp volume, crossed at around 60 Hz or so. In their current setup with a pair of Heresy speakers, the soundstage is pretty mind blowing. Jeff
  4. SOLD I think it's time to let someone else enjoy this really nice sounding subwoofer setup. I have two KW-120 subs and one KA-1000 amp from the THX Ultra 2 system. I bought these three pieces new and I live in a pet free, child free, and smoke free home. Nothing sits on the speaker cabinets and the amp is in a nice open air rack, so there's no heat build-up. I used these in a stereo setup with a pair of LaScalas, then my Klipschorns, and now, Heresys. The amp volume has stayed around 1/3 or so, as I used these subs to just fill in the low end of heavy bass. I doubt these have ever been played to their full potential. Note the photo with the one nick in one cabinet. That seriously is the only flaw on these pieces. There sincerely isn't another scratch, rub, snag on a grill, etc. Please don't ask me about the nick...I did it and I honestly don't want to talk about it. I have the boxes and I'd consider shipping these, although I'm not excited about it. If you're in WI, MN, ND, SD, IA, NE, IL, or the St. Louis area, Spee Dee Delivery could get these to you really reasonably. How reasonably? I bet around $100 or so. For shipping reference, the amp boxed is 32 lbs, with dimensions of 23"x17"x9" . Each sub box weighs 99 lbs, with dimensions of 25" x 25"x25". Remember, there are TWO sub boxes. Local pickup in Oak Creek, WI. I'm an hour north of Chicago, 5 hours from Indy, 5 hours from Detroit, 5 hours from St. Louis, and about 5.5 hours from Minneapolis. Thanks for looking.
  5. I sold my last pair of LaScalas about 5 or 6 years ago. The buyer didn't want the boxes because the speakers wouldn't fit in his vehicle with them, so I held onto them. I'm pretty content with my current setup and don't anticipate needing these boxes any time soon, so it's time to let them go. They've been stored on 2x4s in my dehumidified basement. They don't smell musty or damp, as I keep the basement at 45% humidity or lower year round. However, it looks like one box wicked a bit of water at some point. Again, this doesnt affect the integrity of the boxes, as I've used these to move LaScalas several times, but it's worth pointing out. The top and bottom protector pieces are in nice condition. When I received the boxes, only 4 of the 8 corner pieces were with them. I will include 4 other corner protectors with the sale. The boxes have moved speakers a few times over the years, so there's extra tape on them, etc. But, they're certainly in decent shape. for the pair, picked up from my home in Oak Creek, WI. I am not interested in shipping these and I'm not interested in meeting anyone to pick these up. Thanks for looking. Jeff
  6. I can also vouche for these machines working fine and being packed really well. Each of my sisters is using one and they've been terrific. Jeff
  7. Well, this isn't exactly what I meant when I posted. However, it seems there were some things people needed to get off their chests! Have a great weekend. Jeff
  8. I hope all is well, Lyle. Keep in touch if you hear any rumblings of a pair of Jubilees going up for sale. Have a good one- Jeff
  9. Thebes, if I'm not mistaken, those sound like fightin' words... (your wit always makes me smile, have a great day!)
  10. Hi Bill, My post was meant more as an observational joke and I was able to find the Jubilee information I need. Have a super afternoon. Jeff
  11. I'm beginning the search to purchase a pair of Jubilees. In an attempt to save me a whole bunch of time, I've been reading old threads about the seemingly endless configurations of the Jubilee. In that search through old threads, I've realized how much this forum has changed over the last 16 years. Most notably, I feel like I have to "read into" posts & threads a lot more, now. Although the arguments could get pretty nasty, years ago, guys would post their technical results, ear results, and explain why X was better than Y. Now, I feel like there's an awful lot of tiptoe-ing going on and not nearly as much actual comparison of drivers, networks, and amps. When did a bunch of super knowledgable Boomers and GenXers get so soft? <----tongue in cheek, of course. Have a great Labor Day. Jeff
  12. I believe I have a pair or two of V's at home. I'll check this evening. Jeff
  13. Rockhound, I purchased boxes right from McIntosh. I thought that would be overkill, but in hindsight, it's the only way I'd ship McIntosh again. To give an example of their robust-ness, the 2105 BOX weighs almost 25 lbs. My understanding from my email from Terry is the audio path upgrade includes the recapping (Nichicon Muse (sp?) caps), checking resistors, and checking response paths. I'm not super technical, so I might not have all of this 100% correct. As Terry finds noise, he replaces the bad resistors. When specifications meet or exceed McIntosh standards, he stops. I hope this helps. Jeff
  14. I've had my Mac MC2105 and MX113 for just under 20 years. The AM tuner has been giving me grief for a while and a noisy phono channel recently gave me enough reason to send the MX113 to Terry. Knowing the history of my MC2105 back to the 80s, I knew it never had been serviced, so I knew the caps were overdue for replacement in it, too. My gear arrived at Terry's house on March 1st and I picked it up at FedEx today. Everything you've read about Terry is spot on: he's kind, thorough, incredibly good at his craft, and reasonably priced. Both pieces were treated to his audio path upgrade and Terry includes some personalized notes with his work. He noted that a previous FM tuner repair to my 113 was done incorrectly (this repair was done by a WELL known Milwaukee-area McIntosh guy), which plagued my tuning capabilities for the last 8-9 years. He also pinpointed the problem with my phono channel, which now is dead quiet. After updates, my 2105 benched at 140 WPC in Terry's shop. It's a completely different sounding amp, which is taking a little bit to get used to. It's like a veil has been taken off my speakers, but it's more pronounced than the improvement from crossover recapping. I've dreamed of having my McIntosh equipment gone through by Terry for YEARS, but held off out of fear of the equipment breaking in transit and thinking the cost would be more than I could afford. FedEx handled my factory boxes with care and the trip to TN and back to WI was completed without issue. On the cost side of things, even with shipping, Terry is competitive with local Milwaukee-area shops. AND IT'S TERRY EFFING DEWICK DOING THE WORK! Three things to beware of: I caught Terry at the best time, coming off his winter vacation. I coordinated the date to have my gear arrive with his back to work date, so my gear was on the bench within a few weeks. When I called last summer, Terry was 120 days out, which is much more common. For me, the time away from the McIntosh was time for me to play with a Marantz unit I've had in a closet. Two, Terry has at least one cat. If a few stray cat hairs in your box will give you fits, just pretend they're not there. Lastly, I think Terry or his wife might be a smoker. I have a good nose and noticed a faint, but noticeable, scent of smoke on my gear when it returned. It's nothing like the stink of some of the gear I've purchased from estates over the years, but it needs to be mentioned. Would it stop me from sending gear to Terry? Absolutely not, as I know it'll diminish quickly. So, friends, the bottom line is if you have some Mac gear that hasn't been recapped or professionally gone through, do not hesitate to send it to Terry DeWick. I think you'll be blown away by how reasonable it is to have this stuff gone through. I don't want to talk prices in a post, but feel free to PM and I'll share both invoices if it'll convince you to have some work done. Enough typing, I have music to listen to Jeff
  15. Jay, I have a pair of late Heresy I's or early Heresy II's (I'll have to take the grills off when I get home or check the tags). They're walnut and have stands. They're clean, clean speakers. I'd probably have to get in the $6's to part with them, though, since I'll need to find something else to use in their place. PM me if you want photos. Also, there's a guy in South Milwaukee who's been trying to sell a pair of Heresys. His ad pops up on craigslist every week or so. Jeff in Oak Creek
  16. GLWS, these are sweet. And practical. Jeff

    SOLD

I've had a few offers to ship the 140, but I'm not super excited about boxing this amp up. I updated my listing to reflect absolute bottom dollar on amp, picked up. Thanks, guys. Jeff

    SOLD

I added some additional photos for those who have expressed interest in the 140. I included a photo of the cracked plastic foot, along with a good one, to give an idea of what it should look like. I'm listening to the amp again this a.m. while I clean the house and it sounds terrific with the Klipschorns. Have a great day, guys. Jeff
