  1. Sorry for the delay, I sometimes don't check the forum for a couple days. Let me get you a quote today and I'll PM you this evening. The tweeters on these are K77M and the mids are K55M. I've never opened the doghouse, but I assume the woofers are stock K33's. Thanks again for your interest. Jeff
  2. Sorry for the delay in response, Jason, the week got away from me a bit. Thanks for noticing the Sun machine. I picked it up 5-6 years ago from a local gentleman who owned a service station until the mid 70's. Although it's used mostly for display, I played around with it on a '62 Grand Prix I used to own. The machine still worked at the time and I was impressed with the amount of fine tuning that could be done with it. The manuals that came with it are pretty extensive and I think some fairly regular hands on use would be required to become pretty comfortable/proficient with the machine. In addition to audio, I'm pretty passionate about cars. I'm always looking for vintage signs and other automotive related equipment. Fun stuff! Have a terrific weekend. Jeff
  3. Thanks, Opus. I've had a couple pair of La Scalas in the last 20 years and I've really enjoyed their versatility. They sound terrific in a variety of different room sizes and have a ton of flexibility for upgrades too! Have a good one. Jeff
  4. Hi all, I'm ready to possibly part with my La Scalas. I'm going to go back to a pair of Heresys with subs to save a little space in the rec room. I can store these, but thought I'd try to sell them first. I purchased these speakers from the original owner about 11 years ago and have been powered with McIntosh equipment by me, as well as the original owner. I'm in Oak Creek, WI...about an hour north of Chicago. I'm about 5 hours from Minneapolis, St. Louis, Detroit, and Indy. These speakers have been in a non-smoker, non-pet environment since new. The speakers are currently used in a 1,000 square foot room and they fill it with sound with absolute ease. Although these vintage La Scala speakers are in fantastic, living room quality, original condition, they have been used and moved over the years, so there are a few bumps here and there. The speaker tops are PLANT RING AND STAIN FREE, but have a few light scratches that show up in a couple of the photos. It was difficult to photograph the light scratches, but I tried to show a couple different angles. Also note the minor chips in the veneer that are present on both speakers. I never touched any of these up or used a stain marker to hide anything, so if these bug you, I'll leave it to the new owner to touch them up as desired. These are sequentially numbered speakers (8739833 and 8739834) with factory walnut stained with factory lacquer finish, noted by the LS-BLS W/S on the serial number tags. It's not very often that LaScalas came finished at the factory in Hope, AR, as most were raw, or unstained or finished (BR). I also have factory boxes for these speakers and I am willing to ship these if necessary. Lastly, these speakers have been upgraded with a pair of Bob Crites AL-3 crossover networks. Ok, here's the nitty gritty: The speakers weigh about 127 lbs each and each box weighs about 33 lbs, bringing the total for EACH speaker to 160 lbs shipped. Each box is 29"X 29"X 39". I am willing to ship these, but quotes will vary depending on your location. Pickup in zip 53154 can be arranged. Buyers from Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri (St. Louis area only), Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin: I can offer you competitive shipping rates through Spee-Dee Delivery. Please contact me with your postal code for a quote. International buyers: Please contact me with your postal code for a quote to your nearest port. I can't ship these internationally directly to your address, just to a port. U.S. buyers outside the area listed above, please contact me with your zip for a quote. I can usually get boxes this size shipped to the west coast for around $500 total.
  5. Just sent a PM to you, Scott. I'll take 'em. Jeff
  6. Hi Scott, if the Heresys are still available, I will take them. Shoot me a PM and we can work out a time to pick them up if they're not spoken for. I could get out your way this weekend, but can prepay via Paypal if desired. Jeff
  7. PM sent. Please let me know if you don't receive it. Jeff
  8. Gotcha, something to consider re battery capability. I appreciate the feedback, I'm completely green with this stuff. I can't wait until she says she wants a pair of Cornwalls and a Mac amp! Jeff
  9. Fellas, I know there's a separate section for this, but there's little action there and I want to make a good purchase. Does anyone use the iGroove SXT speaker setup for their iPod? My teenage sister asked for a docking station for her birthday, and of course, I thought of Klipsch first. I know nothing about this stuff, so I'm curious how the iGroove performs. Feel free to email or PM me if you'd like. Thanks gents, Jeff
  10. Went ahead and picked up the Panasonic from Amazon for $129 to my door. As always, thanks for the responses, I appreciate it. Jeff
  11. I know this is more appropriate in the Home Theater area, but I'm more familiar with the guys here in 2 channel. Basically, I'm looking for a new DVD player for my rec room, but I realize that the better long-term purchase may be a Blu Ray player. I'm looking for the most reasonably priced player that's known to have good picture quality and overall solid performance. I've had an eye on this Panasonic: Panasonic DMP-BDT210, but I'm not sure if this is the route to go? If there's a "sleeper" player out there that someone knows of that I can pick up reasonably, I'd appreciate any guidance. Thanks- Jeff
  12. HI Larry, The 2105 indeed has gain controls. I normally run them at 50% and do the rest from the 113. Although somewhat annoying, having some hiss isn't the end of the world, so I'll probably leave things where they are. Jeff
  13. I appreciate the input. I should have mentioned that I ended up buying his 2105 and it's part of the 2nd setup I have. Both systems are equally as noisy and one system has been recently serviced by a local Mac guru, so I'm thinking I can eliminate a problem with the amp or preamp. I'm fine with knowing that it's just my equipment, I still love the McIntosh and Klipsch sound. I also appreciate that this discussion didn't quickly digress into an argument over whose cables are better. Back to the game... Jeff
  14. I've hesitated to ask this question because I don't want to start ANOTHER "which cable is best" thread, but I have a problem and need help. I have two systems at my house and both run McIntosh 2105 amps and 113 preamp/tuners, with LaScalas or K-horns. Over the summer, I had an opportunity to hear another guy's system with a Mac 2105 amp and preamp whose brand I can't think of, paired with some fancy, boutique-style speakers. What surprised me most was how quiet his system was. There was very little to no hiss that I could hear, even with music I brought along. I'm from the camp that cable is cable and I run cheap Monster interconnects that I got while I worked at an electronics store in college. Is the added noise in my system from my rca cables, or is it from using a different preamp than he had and super efficient Klipsch speakers? In other words, are my 113's considered "noisy" preamps and are the horns on my LaScalas and Klipschorns revealing the hiss? Does anyone out there have my amp/preamp combo without hiss? Jeff
  15. Out in left field a bit, but I think your K Horns are new enough where the woofers are fused. Double check to make sure both woofers are actually working. I'm embarrassed to say that I ran my K Horns for 3 days before realizing that one woofer wasn’t working. Just something simple to double check... Jeff
  16. I don't particularly like the AK networks, which these may have. AK-2 on up sound good to my ears, but network swaps are easy enough that I wouldn't consider it a deal breaker. Good luck, they sound like well care for speakers! Jeff
  17. Great suggestions, guys. I'm in the process of getting the 110 cleaned up for sale, but I'm going to apply these tricks to my other Mac pieces as well. After A/B ing the 110 and my 113, the difference isn't as noticable as I thought. Since the 110 is more valuable, I think it's time to part with it, but that's for a different forum. Audible, your technique is time consuming, but I bet the results are brilliant! It's terrific to share in a hobby with others who are fussy with their equipment too. Thanks again- Jeff
