  1. I too think $500 is a very fair price for these speakers! But, you have to decide if they are the speaker for you. They are huge, but I have never thought about getting different speakers, since I purchased mine and that can be a big plus. Many people buy speakers only to dream about "better" speakers down the road. If you buy these, you can leave them in your will for someone else to love, long after you're gone. I would not think twice about purchasing these speakers. Heck, I paid $1100 for my 1979 La Scala's. Good Luck and keep us posted, Dennie
  2. Careful Sam! Have you been bitten by the bug? Is up-gratis getting the best of you? Are you starting to wonder if anything could possibly sound better? It sounds like you may have been bitten by the upgrade bug! I say Run (don't walk) to the nearest Doctor and see if you can get a shot or something, before it is toooooo late! In all seriousness, if you love your speakers, then they are doing what they are supposed to do, make beautiful noise. Why Change? You have some of the finest speakers ever made. So, why fix it?!?! Unless you're thinking about the Heritage Line???? [] LOL I'm glad you still love your speakers, it really makes things much simpler! [] Dennie
  3. HOLD THE BUS! Wait one minute! [^o)] I have never bought anything off of Joe and he has never givin' me anything! [] I say we keep him around until he does! Dennie []
  4. Heck, it took me about ten tries to open this thread. Every time I post in the "Right This Minute" thread, it goes to an error page, but then I hit the back button twice and refresh the page, my post is there! Lets see if this post goes through..... Dennie
  5. Great Story Steven, It sounds like you were able to get a lot of "Klipsch time" in. [Y] I would love to hear that 7.1 set up, especially with BluRay disks. It also sounds like you had a good and beneficial time at Michaels! It always nice to pick up some needed parts! Thanks for sharing it, Dennie
  6. We have two pair's on Sacramento's Craigslist right now and I called everyone I can think of to buy them, but no taker's yet. One Pair is $1800 and they are a couple miles from me and the others are about 30 miles away and he wants $2500 for the pair. I don't have two corners or the room for them, but I have thought about picking them up anyway! [] Dennie [:'(]
  7. If it is an 8" Sub, you probably don't want it anyway. 8" Subs really aren't "sub-sonic", just a Bass Driver! Dennie
  8. Hey Ursus, Welcome and we're glad you're here. The MP3's could be your problem. Do you have a CD player you can hook up? Or a DVD player to play CD's and see if you get the same harshness. I can't listen to MP3's on my system either. It sound awful. Try a different source and let us know how that goes. Dennie
  9. Hey Doc, good for you. I love my La Scala's in my home. The are exceptional speakers, as you know. Keep your eye on your local Craigslist. I see them come up every couple of weeks. Search the Electronics section for Klipsch and see what comes up. It is a great time to be looking at the used market. If they are older, remember you will need to set a side $300 or so for new crossovers. Or you can rebuild them yourself for cheaper if you are so inclined. Ebay is also a popular place to look for them, but shipping can be a deal breaker. Good Luck in your search, Dennie
  10. I wonder if Bob and Fred have played at Shelly's Manne Hole... I would have to guess by the look on there faces, YES they have!!!! [:|] Dennie
  11. Good for you SWL! I keep wanting to take my La Scala's out back on to the patio, but they are just a little too heavy to move comfortably. I have a Sanyo a2000 that would power them nicely. But I have yet to do it. Enjoy your day of Patio Music! I bet it sounds great! Dennie
  12. Thanks! I've got my fingers and toes crossed hoping that it will all come together as well as I hope. A few years ago I had an Outlaw 950 paired with a Marantz amp (same model) driving a 5.1 JBL Studio Series system and there was just something "right" about it. I've been watching agon - vgon - CL - and ebay waiting for the planets to line up just right and all of the right bits and pieces to fall in to place. I guess it was this weeks eclipse that did it. In the end I got both pieces for $850 total delivered to my door. I really doubt that I could find a receiver that will supply the same sound and feature set for anywhere near that price. I'd thought about one of the "T-Amps" but I just can't seem to wrap my brain around digital amplification. I mean I've worked so hard and spent so much $$ trying to get back to an "analog" sound. I'm not sure that one of those would do it for me. On the other hand it's "background" music for pete's sake. We're not talking critical listening here... As I typed this I had one of those "DUH" moments. Either up in the attic or maybe in the shed I have an old Yamaha 2-channel receiver. IF I can find it and IF it still works it may just be my answer. And at the best budget point of all... FREE. Worst case a few squirts of De-Oxit and I'm in business. Gotta go... Time to start digging through the years of accumulated crap in the attic and shed... That is a great price for the combo! That MM9000 is plenty of amp for your set up and should sound great. Outlaw Audio has the 970 preamp on sale/clearance for $299 and for it's age, it is still a great processor. The 990 has a phono input, which is even better! [Y] Good luck on the hunt for your old gear, Free is always the best price and let us know how it sounds when it is all hooked up! Dennie
  13. Now that is funny! Hey Pm, I think Marty has an album to loan you..........................
  14. Congratulations on the Outlaw/Marantz combo, from what I hear, they should sound fantastic together! What about some of those T amps? Here is a link to a recent thread.....------------> CLICK HERE Dennie
  15. Congratulations on the Khorns PMSummer! But, I think she might notice, but whats a little yelling and screaming?[] [:S] I mean C'mon.......YOU GOT A PAIR OF KHORNS!!!!!![<)] [Y] [D] Take your lashings and then beat the Crites into those beautiful speakers! Dennie
  16. I guess it does, Bob and Fred seem very Happy together! [] Dennie
  17. Hey Ace, Sorry to hear about the loss of your woofer! I would put them as far apart as possible. The corners of the house seems like the best to me as you would have a really wide soundfield. I have my garage on one side of my backyard and my neighbors garage on the other side and that is where my speakers are mounted, one on his garage and one on mine, I love it. It is not directly at our seating area, so we can still carry on a conversation and hear the music at the same time. Having them spread out gives me a nice stereo effect also. If you have a balance control, you can adjust it according to where you are sitting. This is what works for me, Dennie
  18. Thanks for sharing the story and pictures with us Rich. It looks great! I really didn't think anything could make the La Scala's look small, but they look tiny with those beautiful horns on top. Over 7' tall is just unbeleavable, WOW!!! Ok, I better go before I catch that bug that is going around. [] Dennie
  19. Hey Jess, It sounds like you need to go to Home Depot and get a can of Black spary paint! The only other thing I can think of is a amp repair shop or something like that. I would stay away from Class D amps for your mains. Subwoofers, class D is fine. Mains......NOT! Good luck in your search, Dennie
  20. Although there are no Nun's on this one, I have always thought this was a "bad" cover.
  21. I am fortunate that I have a friend and neighbor in the used music business. He is very critical about the condition of the music he sells, so he gives me good prices on the "seconds". Everything is entirely playable and usually in very good condition. He also sells on amazon, here is a link to his store------> CLICK HERE (I am not affiliated nor do I receive any compensation from him. He is just a great guy who loves music and has turned it into a business. Richard is one of the most stand up and honest people I've had the pleasure to meet.) If it is a new release I am looking for, One Click shopping at amazon is usually the way I go or I hit one of my local Record stores. Dennie
  22. Hey Dylanl, I am not familiar with that table, but I did a quick google search and came up with this thread.......CLICK HERE! I guess it depends on what you pay for it, if you can pick it up for $25, then I would say why not, but for $100 or so, you can probably come up with a good used table on Craigslist or Ebay. Can you give it a listen first? Dennie
  23. Thanks for sharing the story Seth. It is always great to hear about forum members getting together and.............well........ahhhh, doing what we do! It sounds like JamesV is one heck of a guy and kudos to him for doing the Driving!!! Dennie
  24. Good for you Jess! Isn't it a beautiful thing?! There is absolutely nothing like good music and when we get to hear it through some of the most amazing speakers ever produced, it is truly special. This is the right place for your post. I only have a handful of friends who understand my love for music, so I come here to share what I am listening to right this minute. Here, people "Get It"! Keep do'in what your do'in and start looking for NEW music. It can be fun as heck to find a new (to you) artist that really moves you. When you get a chance, post what you're listening to in the "Right This Minute" thread, we'd be glad to see what you're listening too also. Dennie
  25. Thanks Russ, I read the description and it does sound like a keeper! Dennie Amazon.com The final cut on That Lonesome Song—kind of a concept album meets musical manifesto—is titled "Between Jennings and Jones," which is where Jamey Johnson finds himself shelved in the CD racks, and also how he describes his sound. Actually, there's way more Jennings than Jones, with two cuts covered from Waylon's classic Dreaming My Dreams (the title track and "The Door Is Always Open"), another paying tribute to him by name ("The Last Cowboy") and several others borrowing liberally from his sound. Yet in terms of both concept and sound, the bare-bones intimacy of this bittersweet divorce album remind more of Willie Nelson's Phases and Stages (at least side one, the man's side), with the opening "High Cost of Living" ("ain’t nothing like the cost of living high") setting the "Bloody Mary Morning" tone, extended by the sad country waltz of "Angel" and continuing through the down-and-out epiphany of the title track. Only the comparatively lightweight novelty of "Women" indicates that this is the same guy who wrote "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" for Trace Adkins. --Don McLeese
