  1. After fooling with it for a few minutes the other night I was able to pull it up on the tv screen and set everything to my liking. So last night it was all put to the test with the release of the Dark knight and WOW, I finally have a proper HT set up! I would be willing to take on any local theater. Thanks for all of you help. THere are a lot of smart people around here.
  2. To view the onscreen displays, make certain you have connected the MONITOR OUT jack on the rear panel to the composite, S-Video, component video or HDMI input of your TV or projector. (See page 13, 14) -This is the only problem I am having. (above) Im not sure if Im not using the right input on the tv or correct cable. I will try more tonight after work.
  3. Thanks tommyboy! Im getting closer i have audio and picture I just cant adjust all the settings through the tv screen, but I can adjust them through the marantz display screen though. Oh well its coming along. Too bad I dont know more people in my area who love this stuff the way we do. Im pretty thankful for this forum.
  4. Ok. I can get sound from ps3 and cable box through sr5003. But in the manual it tells me that I should be able to press a menu button on the unit and it will come up on the tv screen to dial in settings, but im not getting that menu. I dont have some video cable hooked up correctly.
  5. Hey everyone, yesterday I bought a new Marantz SR5003. This thing should power my HT system very well for now. I have a huge problem, This is the most difficult thing ever to set up. I need help and I refuse to pay someone to hook it up. Problems -ps3 to marantz (which cable and where) -comcast dvr to marantz (which cables and where) -marantz to tv (which cables and where) I thought I could just run hdmi from ps3 to marantz hdmi dvd input as well as my comcast dvr into a hdmi slot and from the marantz hdmi output to tv and life would be good. This has been a nightmare....I need help!
  6. Congrats! I think that belle is so beautiful!
  7. For the last year or so I kind of thought 5.1 home set ups were kind of weak. Using La scalas and a sub I heard crazy detail and sound, so I thought that 5.1 was just kind of a waste. Then I found a local home theater center that sold Klipsch HT systems and it put me in my place. I just bought ps3 and its wonderful for movies so far but my surround set up sucks. the La scalas and sub are being powered through a cheap sony receiver and I can do very little with it to change the surround sound. Ive been looking at new receivers and found this Marantz SR5600 Receiver. It looks great and has been slightly used but for $300 its almost hard to say no. I have an old 2238 stereo receiver that is still really nice and sounds great, so Im assuming that the Marantz SR5600 Receiver will be nice also and have the power to run my set up. DO you all have any thoughts. I dont want to buy this just to be let down.
  8. colterphoto1 Thats funny. Scumbags like that need to be fed to the alligators.
  9. CT Looks great! I need to sit down soon and try to build a pair. Anyways an attaboy is well deserved. Keep it loud!
  10. Although Im new to this go with Cornwalls! I just love them. They might be the best thing I've bought all year.
  11. Ok, that makes a little more since. One more question that is really making me think.....how come my cornwalls have so much more deep bass than my La Scalas?
  12. Does LS-BR mean brown? Also, 5P897? Is that May, 1976 and production #?
  13. I just bought a carver amp CM-1090 for $200 and I have to say its very nice. I put new Uv lamps in it and blew out all the dust and crap from over the years. A little tlc, and paired it with Cornwalls.......its very loud and clear. ( I think the neighbors are pissed) This is the second Carver piece I have and love it so far. I am now trying to pair it with the Carver C-19 pre amp with tubes. Any Carver fans here?
  14. Thanks everyone for the info. I have so much to learn!
  15. james V, the room size is 14x14 with vaulted ceiling abt 28ft high. So its nice to really turn it up and have a drink and just enjoy. Its funny you guys mention the dynakits for I was just looking at the site and thinking to myself those are pretty good looking and Im sure they're not too hard to build. Mike, you bring up a good point on the SE or PP. Since I am so new to this I dont know which to build. I guess I just want something that sounds nice, has nice bass and will fit well with my Corns or Ls......and maybe one day Khorns.
  16. I only want to spend about about $800-$1000 on a nice tube amp. So should I build one or buy? I would like to know more about how a tube amp works so building one would be cool and rewarding. What are your thoughts and any recommendations for diy kits? I will be using it with either Cornwalls or La Scalas.
  17. I have been following this thread because I am very interested in a nice valve amp for either my LS's or Corns. I have reading as much as I can and checking the links you all have posted. I was told to buy a Mcintosh but now I dont think I will because of what some of you have said. I bought a very cheap tube amp by Meng da. It sounds nice and clear at low levels but lacks bass and just does not seem to cut it. I dont really want to spend more than a grand, so I have been trying to pick up a Carver Cm-1090 and run it with a Carver C-19 Preamplifier for about $750. IS it smart to run the ss cm 1090 with the tubed preamp? I would see why it would be nice for the phono stage, but wouldnt be better and sound cleaner if both were tubes?
  18. Does anyone know if this link http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=218&ad=4747107&cat=494&lpid= is a good deal? I have emailed this guy and he says these are the best sounding khorns ever(which ive never heard) Im just not sure why he would do all these "upgrades" just to turn around and sell them.
  19. I might be looking at the same pair you are bobdog. I had pretty much the same question. What the difference in Chorus IIs and cornwalls? I dont need anymore speakers, I need tube amps! .........but I would like to have the speakers too.
  20. fenderbender, you are so right about buying another house. I had to turn down the most beautiful pair of khorns because I could not put them anywhere. Im still a little bummed on passing up that deal. I need to look into all the upgrades for my set up. I heard Bob Crites is guy to go to for repair and mods.
  21. Hi everyone. Well, I guess I have to let all of you know that I am a junkie. A Klipsch speaker and Hi-end junkie. I work next to an older guy who always had one worn multi-colored La scala. I thought he built it himself, but it was loud and had nice bass. As I started looking into speakers and a nice home stereo system he introduced me to Klipsch. I bought a pair of Hereseys I loved those so much I bought a pair of La Scalas that had new crossovers from bec put in them. I liked those so much I bought Cornwalls. (from the same guy) Now I have so many questions. I need to read more but I know I will need all of your help. Thanks, and glad to be here.
