  1. Do you have any info on what the output impedance is on the CJ? Sounds like it might be a good match but then again you said "fairly pleased" so hard to call at this time.[] Congrats!
  2. Congrats Wuzzer, Date code makes them 1992 by the way. Forte II's are an awesome speaker as is the rest of the Heritage line.(I guess in reality they are called that "other" line now. bahhhh pffffffft) Rock On !!!!!!!!! Good luck with your choice.
  3. Yes but Richard some equipment is so darn thin, forward and bright that the poor little klipsch dont have a chance. Not just pickin on the amp it could be anything in the chain. But I do agree location means alot especially using a speaker with a rear firing passive radiator.
  4. I started believing everything sounds the same[] All joking aside I hope she found it!
  5. Ok now I think you've flipped your lid[]
  6. Hi Copperwire and welcome to the forum. As far as postive and negative terminals on the rear the red terminal will be positive and the black negative. And you are correct the Forte II's are capable of some awesome bass. But to achieve your desired goals you must look closely at your equipment in front of your speakers. You need equipment that leans towards rich and full and not thin and lean. Starts with the source all the way to the amplification. I have personally found that alot of the newer more reasonably priced dvd players sound thin in comparison to some of the older more expensive dedicated cd players. Amp and preamp(seperates) would be a great choice if money is not a concern. Whether it be solid state or tube you can really put together a great system that will knock your socks off. To shorten the journey as to which to choose you can gain alot of knowledge from the folks here on this forum. There is a ton of knowledge and experience here to help you along your journey. Now if you are on a budget there are also some great choices with receivers and integrated amps. For SS look at the older Twin Powered Harman Kardon receivers or the Marantz 23XX series receivers. Great bang for the buck and they will bring out the bass in your Forte II's and keep your highs and mids nice a smooth. For Tubes look at the HH Scott's. They have almost a cult like following in these parts with horns. I personally listen to the Chorus II's the Fortes big brothers. My journey to get the enjoyment out of my speakers has led me to carefully chosen high power ss. But alot of your choices will depend on many factors. Room size, type of music, listening habits just to name a few. You've come to the right place for answers. Something that can also help you at the moment with your Forte II's is positioning. I find that positioning them closer to the wall or corner to give best results. The passive radiator uses the wall or corner to help reinforce bass response into the room. Good luck.
  7. Good One! Yup thats what makes opinions so great[]
  8. Well I can see I am not the only crazy one around here. [] I too had both Chorus I's and II's, and found I preferred the I's for pretty much the same reasons as you. A little more balanced presentation, with tighter bass, but that is just my opinion. I think they are all great speakers, and you cannot go wrong with either. Mike Forte I and Forte II are very similar designs as far as bass is concerned. 12 inch passive vs a 15 inch. Chorus I and Chorus II are completely different designs. Box size being about the only real comparison. And its a passive vs port when it comes to bass. I'll take the Chorus II three times today and twice tomorrow over the Chorus I.
  9. Duke, That is running the same amp as you. A K2 runs my L/ R subs. Each sub has (2) 4 ohm JBLs in parallel so they are a 2 ohm load which the K2 puts out around 1200w into per channel. The other K2 runs my Contrabass on one channel (about a 3 ohm load 1000w or so from the K2) and the other channel runs 14 Bass Shakers which are wired to around a 2 ohm load as well. Shawn I Take it all back Duke. You are right SFogg has the watts!
  10. OK The Dukester wins the power war! Not that I care, but how do you figure when I have 1000W for bass and 115W for mids? I was looking at it from a different perspective. The power he has on tap with that K2 is astounding. We are talking that thing is in the range of 2500 watts bridged whereas my measly little QSC only is 2450 watts bridged[] Just messin with the Dukester[] Looks like you got a nice rig going there yourself Chops!
  11. Agreed on mismatches. But it makes me think these QSC's aren't nearly as easy to match up with as one might think. So how many people are actually hearing the real capabilities of these beasts? Marantz and QSC simply rock your world!
  12. Don't judge the entire USA because of some folks on the Klipsch forum.[] Some folks aren't near as picky[]
  13. Sure is JB. But here is the thing. I have a Luxman L-580 thats sweet by itself with klipsch but with the QSC it just doesnt sound quite right, its not even through the frequencies. With my Audible Illusions L-1 the sound isnt right either. The music just dies at both extremes. With my HK 930 as a preamp same problem things dont have the snap and detail seems lost. But with my Marantz 2325 things are awesome. So I do believe the preamp does make a huge difference. Its just finding which one works for you.
  14. I think you might find plenty of people that prefer Chorus over LaScalas/KHorns...they're no slouch with 102dB sensitivity and at 130dB peak SPL they actually go louder... [] (if ya got a clean 1000W on tap). I believe the problem is 90% of the folks dont know what these Chorus II's are capable of. Whether it be wrong equipment or mismatched or just not a good match for the Chorus II. Truth is Forte II problably one of best speakers ever designed in my opinion and the Chorus II does everything better. But thats just IMHO. And you know what they say about opinions[] And I agree ROCK ON !!!
  15. Well I'm here to tell you its a giant killer without a tube pre as long as you dont have an impedance mismatch. Period![]
  16. Good to hear the amp exceeded your expectations. My thoughts exactly as to the endless power and smooth from top to bottom. My QSC has bitten that dreaded upgrade bug. I just spend my time either enjoying or buying more music. It's great. Congrats and enjoy!
  17. Congrats Wuzzer! Thats one big son of a gun.
  18. Ahh I see. You've got that dreaded impedance mismatch goin on. Sucks the life right out of the music. I've got the same thing with my QSC and nice Audible Illusions preamp. It just doesnt work together.
  19. Interesting how one mans nirvana is another mans cause for nausea. Myself personally between Adcom 565 mono blocs, Aragon 4004 MKII, Dynaco ST-70 and the QSC SRA 2422 my rating would go as such.... 1. QSC 5. Aragon 6. Dynaco 10. Adcoms With the QSC being the most musical out of the bunch. But others would say heck they dont see a musical amp on the list.[] Now the Dynaco Mark III's could very well be the most musical of the bunch even in my opinion though if they have been gone through. My first question would be what in the world are you using for a preamp? What really makes me wonder is you are actually using the same speakers I am. WOW! Rich, Congrats on your new amp purchase. I too am awaiting your review of your new toy!
  20. If you really want to hear that QSC sing, take it over to someone's who has LaScalas or KHorns. That will blow your mind. My friend has Chorus. They are very good. But watch what happens when you feed that kind of power to the much larger mid-horns. By the way, I'll bet you've already noticed that your QSC never gets hot, never breaks a sweat, and you have so much headroom in that thing that you sometimes are afraid you'll accidently bump the volume knob and kill your speakers. Like I said I am very happy right where I am at. Haven't ever really been able to say that I've always been looking in the past for something and not really knowing what. With this combination I have now things are great! Could it get better? I'm sure but thing is I'm content with the sound I have. As far as Chorus II speakers. Been going strong for 16 years and I'm sure they will make another 16 cause I dig what they do and how they do it. The QSC has had my Chorus II's nearly bringing the walls down and has never had one distortion led flicker. The headroom is unreal almost like no ceiling. Sorry Gary, hope your thread gets back on track.
