  1. if your remote is a logitech, they sell an adapter specifically to overcome the IR to Bluetooth hurdle. There are several very solid applications you could run on a computer in your home that will stream/encode/be perfectly awesome for sending whatever contents you have on your NTFS drive to the ps3. Ya, it's a gaming console ..but it also gives you extensive flexibility in configuration, loads bluray's faster than many dedicated players, and receives updates from sony often in advance of their other players. I definitely recommend going with the slim, if for no other reason than to have a cooler/quieter machine and full support of the latest HD audio formats over hdmi.
  2. what's wrong with the PS3 you have in your signature? It meets every single one of your requirements, especially with netflix going to discless last week. So what does it not do that you're wanting?
  3. Speakers aren't worth ignoring common sense ..your comments above say "i probably shouldn't, given my current economic situation". There will always be good deals and better times to take advantage of them. having said that - it's a great deal, and you're a big boy, so decide for yourself if you want to walk that line.
  4. cool. shoot me your shipping address and I'll get it in the mail..
  5. i have good news, and bad news .. it's monoprice 12awg, CL2 ..but only 10ft. lemme know if you want it and i'll get it sent your way early next week (PM me your address). I owe ya anyways ..
  6. not really ..sort of a stupid joke, i guess. but i do still very much enjoy the cable.
  7. you and your power cables... let me dig around this evening, i may in fact have what you're looking for. btw - loving my custom cable. the house burned down as a result of it, but the cable actually survived..so at least i can start fresh with it as the cornerstone.
  8. I can definitely recommend the RF-5's ..they pair wonderfully with an RC-7. I keep my eyes peeled for a second pair to use for surrounds, but have yet to find a deal that really captured my attention.
  9. how'd it get in there to begin with? seems staged ..
  10. Thanks, I'm pretty stoked. Lots of stuff on the drawing board including those Hella horns. You like them?
  11. I was bent on becoming a pro photog of sorts and have been doing events, weddings, some commissioned architectural, etc. I've learned that I much prefer the raw style of street/photojournalistic style ..and not being contracted to complete someone else's vision. if i manage to sell some of my art going forward, cool ..if not, no biggy. so this direction dictates a much different (and consequently smaller) gear setup, hence the selloff. hobby 2 starts in November when i take receipt of my '71 BMW 2002 and begin shaping it into my special street car. Flying out to LA and driving back to Dallas the week of Thanksgiving. Pics of it's current status can be seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/thaddeus_smith/sets/72157624168231215/
  12. All items have been sold (miraculously, in fact, I posted everything to CList and my photog a mere 24 hours ago and it all flew off the shelves)
  13. Absolutely. My receiver is 7.1 but I'm only using 5.1 www.audiogon.com further to this point: mine is a 7.1 and I only use it for 3 channels, L-C-R ..most modern receivers are smart enough to help you set it up with whatever speaker setup you decide on.
  14. that price is about half of what i paid for my RF-5's ..doesnt seem all that unreasonable.
  15. Ha ..totally glossed over my own pun. I figured you were giving me hard time about my 2010 "year of gear shuffling".
  16. I've had my 880 for 2 years, no issues. A buddy of mine has had his for over 5, never heard him complain about problems.
  17. I purchased a panasonic GF1 + 20mm f/1.7 pancake lens (micro 4/3rds system). Probably next year I will purchase a couple of leica-mount Voigtlander lenses specifically useful for street photography. The camera has it's limitations, but it suits my needs wonderfully and has been my go-to camera since around May.
  18. don't start. I'm moving into street/photojournalism as art and away from commisioned work/weddings/etc ...I used this kit about 4 times this year and it's just a waste keeping it around in that status. Different gear for different styles, like a 2-channel vs. HT setup. (there, now it's on topic)
  19. I don't want to clog up the FS section with non-audio, but I know there are some cross-hobby photogs here. I've changed some photography focuses and am selling my Nikon setup. Shoot me a PM if you'd like to discuss conditions and prices. Pics can be seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/thaddeus_smith/sets/72157625075120678/ Amy - If this isn't appropriate, let me know or feel free to remove.
  20. I'm rarely funny ..but I am a sarcastic *******. does that count?
  21. first thing I would check is the fuse ... throw in an appropriately rated replacement and see what happens from there. If still non-functional, go with the earlier advice of calling Klipsch support.
