  1. dimensions of the space? build a mini flexi rack (4 legs instead of 3) for your spaces out of plywood, 5/8" threaded rod, nuts, and washers. if your cabinets will fit the 24" square sheets of plywood (at lowes) then your fabrication efforts just got a lot simpler. if not: cut the plywood to fit drill 4 holes about 2" in from each corner create your nut/washer/plywood/washer/nut sandwiches per level. completely customizable for your various component heights and super sturdy. let me know if you need pics or additional design info..
  2. Cables are en route to USNRET. Very useful test, and once again ...thanks for throwing it together Inventor.
  3. A) you should never rely on anything the geek squad techs say, especially when it's computer related and most certainly when it's home AV related. looks like a good combo ..how's it sound? then you can tell us what you feel is lacking (bass, surrounds, max volume, etc) ..from there, suitable alternatives can be suggested. Give it a solid week or two of listening and report back with weaknesses (if any).
  4. yup .sent it Sunday afternoon. I'll resend post-haste..
  5. so, aside from the nostalgia factor ..what does laserdisc provide today that HDDVD/Bluray doesn't? I know at the time it was THE format for ultimate quality and I remember going to a friend's house and immersing myself in his dad's super elite 5.1 system and watching die hard on LD, but it just seems unecessary these days.
  6. Cool; I'll ship accordingly. Random Tangent: Inventor, you should take your pawn stars hat in and see what they'll pay for it...
  7. Finished testing! Very much enjoyed the exercise (and will probably skip listening to carol of the bells this next Christmas). I'll refrain from any spoilers, but I did hear differences (some cables more than others) and I definitely found a favorite. Who's next: USNRET or Paul from Anti-cables?
  8. You're not right Roger, was that a typo??????????????? LMAO har har har...
  9. i just use a pair of dikes. had a lot of short wires to begin with, but you get a feel for it.
  10. dunno if south park exceeds your guys' generational tolerances, but last weeks episode is right in line with this and absolutely hilarious (to a guy that grew up with south park)
  11. package arrived safe and sound (ha!) ..sexy looking cables in this box. It'll be this weekend before I'm able to sit down and listen, but I should be able to get the cables out by next wednesday.
  12. Everything north of the border is showing a little wear. Everything to the south seems to be holding it's own. I'd prefer that you not clarify where that border resides.
  13. Ah yes, I should have known. The old Acer negundo. How could I have missed that? I knew your hearing was shot ..but never figured your eyes were going too.
  14. based on your picture and the sketch at this link ..i think it's a Boxelder, Ashleaf Maple.. http://www.arborday.org/trees/whattree/WhatTree.cfm?ItemID=E23c
  15. should arrive tomorrow..what's the significance of the rubber bands?
  16. your mains drop off at 30Hz ...fine for music, but in movies there is a whole lot of stuff which exists below 30Hz that you're missing.Having said that ..I'm running nothing but LCR and am quite enjoying it.
  17. welcome! What sort of space is the sub going into (roome volume), and what will it be mated with? I've not heard the rw-10d but I did own the rw-12 for a few years and was nothing but pleased. There's definitely some owners of the 10d on here that should be able to chime in after some additional details..

btw.. if your speakers are sounding a bit shrill/piercing you can paint them red to warm up the sound. conversely, blue paint will make them come alive if they sound muddy and overly bass'y.
