  1. and what's my wife supposed to do when me and my iphone are at work or a friend's, etc?
  2. let's not forget harmony remotes. great product for what they don't cost.
  3. I used the one in your second link for connecting my sub ..very robust and well made. the connectors are nice.
  4. patiently waiting for cables. may take a few extra days; I just switched out AVR's and still getting used to the sound (but overall, very pleased). Inventor ..can you provide copies of your evaluation template ..still not sure exactly what sort of feedback I/we are meant to provide aside from a subjective "yup, like this one the best in my system".
  5. you'll have to get something like this: http://www.headphone.com/accessories/cable-pro-lite-el-ipod-dock-1ft.php (not that specific one, per se), and a portable headphone amp.
  6. I certainly can't argue that point. nuh uhhh...
  7. if you have the space and aesthetic leeway to pull of using the same speaker for all 5, even better. Most of us don't though, and so the industry created timbre matched center speakers more conducive to placement above or below our screens.
  8. Oh certainly not. I would have requested louder dB's if it weren't for the family's presence
  9. and it's damn sexy ...pretty sure i had an eargasm.
  10. i have r-3650-w's like you do (only they are mounted in old kg 3.5 cabinets) and connected to my marantz which specs out at 125wpc. Since my mains are driven by an external amp there's no lack of power for my other 3 channels ..and I've yet to have any problems at very loud levels. You should be fine with whatever you choose.
  11. you asked about reincarnating your speakers ..duh.
  12. i'll throw my vote in for a carver m-1.0t. They can be had on the bay and list for $350 or less ( i spent 250 for mine). Puts out about 300wpc stock and I'l be having mine overhauled and modded this summer to bump that up to around 460wpc. not bad for 25yr old tech ..
  13. no prob at all. let me know if there's a bullet that needs clarification or additional assistance.
  14. I don't know your computer proficiency, so I'm going to spell it out in the simplest of terms. It's not meant as an insult; here ya go: Download and install the latest itunes (skip this if you already have it) Create a folder on your external HD and call it "Music" Launch itunes go to Edit > Preferences go to the "Advanced" tab At the top of that screen it says "iTunes Media Folder Location" and has a "change" button to the right. Click "change" Browse to the folder created in step 2 on your external hard drive and click the "select folder" button The iTunes media folder location should now look like "D:\music\" ..D is the drive letter for my external, it may be different for yours. Make sure "keep itunes media folder organized" and "copy files to itunes media folder when adding to library" are both checked Click the "ok" button Browse to the location where your music is currently stored (my documents > my music, i assume?) and resize the itunes and explorer windows so you can see both, side by side. select all of your music in windows explorer (ctrl-a) and left-click + drag over to the left side of itunes where it says "library" and lists music, movies, etc. It should analyze the music, and once it encounters wma files you will be asked if you want to convert them to mp3 format or not. After that it will beging the copying and organizing of the files onto your external drive. You may have to go in and manually edit some files if the embedded data within your music files is missing or incomplete Easiest way to do this is sort your music in itunes by artist and/or album ..anything not properly tagged will usually show up blank when sorted. Right Click >Get info , and edit as needed. Once the information is corrected, iTunes will reorganize into the proper folder/file structure.
  15. Be sure the RF-5's are securely chained to the floor . oh no worries ..you'll be under constant watch of my killer bulldog pup.. [H]
  16. it's most certainly worth the day trip (or weekend if you don't want to power through 12 hours of driving) to meet Carl and his family and absorb one's self into his primary setup. Plus, he has those bass bins he recently built, and some heresies he needs to demo. I'd be willing to set aside a Sat/Sun and pay for gas for the priveledge to tag along with anyone heading down that way Plus, one or two more trips down to Beaumont gives us plenty of leverage for Carl to shag his butt up this direction ..
  17. i think the furman is meant to compensate in the situation described. the power cables in this test kit are purely for sound coloring (or not, if that is the desired result). it's also possible that i misinterpreted the intent of the test kit/cable replacements.
  18. i've not had the pleasure of hearing heresies, but from what i've read it would be morally reprehensible (worse than killing a litter of kittens in front of 5 yr old girl) to pull those puppies out of HT service. use em if you've got em.. and flank those rb-81's on either side of your computer monitor in the office
  19. Man that's some ssttiicckkyy sarcasm.....wrong side of the bed? Easy goes it! missed my meds this morning ..thusly, the character flaws eek out. disregard the snippiness and happy listening
  20. i agree, it's better to make your audio purchases based on the furniture. having speakers that are sonically matched for your front stage is a bad idea anyways ..
  21. i guess that's the point im trying to not so delicately make ..you seem to have put a lot of time and money into all other aspects, but are choosing to half-*** the rear surround portion of your experience. anyone who goes through the thought process of identical towers @ rf-82 caliber should know better than to place surrounds at the ceiling or in front of the listening position ..
  22. again, neither of these positions are really optimal for a 5.1 setup and you'd be better off just not having surrounds.
