  1. i thought about getting some of those crappy plywood speakers like lascalla or cornwall or something. figure a couple cans of flat black rustoleum would seal the wood fine. what you think?
  2. i may have just answered my own question. how are the kg2's? http://dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/ele/1440841255.html
  3. I want to get a set in my garage to replace the crappy little sony satellites I currently have as well as add some "oopmh". The criteria: need to run well off my SS 100wpc receiver, don't have to be pretty but also don't want to be tempted to restore them, can't be of a model that will get me tarred and feathered by the masses for using in texas garage weather. under $100 the ideal cost ..suggestions?
  4. i would pop over to http://thecarversite.com/yetanotherforum/ and ask them. Great group of guys (some of which are here too) that should be more than able to talk specifically to your gear. RichP,TNRabbit ..chime in!
  5. done and done. one spot still remains for the RCA > mini interconnect (useful for people with portable headphone amps, ipods, etc)
  6. shoot me a pm if you'd like to receive one of the review samples.
  7. sounds fair. however, if he's over valuing those three pieces towards the full package total, you can break down the current market value of his other components and show how you reached that offer.
  8. btw ..if he balks at the $800 for RC/RF combo, he should be informed that his receiver model recently sold for a mere $334 on Ebay and the surround models for around $100/pair. Then offer him $650 for arguing with you.
  9. dont pay more than $200 for the center, $4-600 for the floorstanders, depending on the condition.
  10. i'm just enough of a smartass to try and figure out how to make this possible
  11. I'm going to give it a go and plan on sending out some review samples during the month of November. Send me a PM if you'd like to review one of the samples ..my expectation is that you will pay for shipping costs (less than $10), not resell the cables (they are free for you to keep or pass on to someone else), and provide some honest feedback/reviews here on the forum. The following will be made available: Pair of 1m interconnects - Groomlakearea51 Pair of 6ft speaker wire + choice of termination - USNRET Single 1m RCA to Mini stereo jack - jamesV Single 10ft headphone extension + choice of termination - jamesV Still finalizing pricing and components, but they will be similar in materials to bluejeans at about 1/3rd the price.
  12. I'm in the process of offering DIY speaker wires and interconnects. canare star quad is the same stuff I'll be using and the total cable cost will be $2/ft +$5 for terminations of your choice (per wire). I'll be offering up some review samples as I get closer to marketing; send me a PM if you'd like the speaker wire slot.
  13. all good feedback guys, thanks. other opinions are certainly welcomed, and I'll start seeing what I can come up with based on what has been said so far.
  14. good feedback, thank you. If the demand isn't there, then I definitely don't want to drop any cash into creating the supply..
  15. ya, but it's connected with quick lock banana connects!!!!!
  16. you should be fine ..it's just going to add a bunch of cable mess by splitting off to different sources.
  17. i honestly don't know, as it relates to your equipment. I'm simply addressing the physical limitations of each component's input/output jacks.
  18. I've enjoyed making some cables for my stuff and find it very therapeutic and sort of a creative outlet. My first batches were eyesores, but after some time with the materials I'm starting to end up with some nice results. The problem is that I've run out of devices to make cables for.. so I'm starting to consider whoring myself out to the masses to make cables for you, at the cost of materials and shipping. I'm not interested in starting a holy war for sonic qualities or perceived differences. I'd simply like to offer cables that of an aesthetically pleasing nature that are more expensive than bulk lamp cord and less expensive than monster. monoprice is king, but even their cables are pretty bland. so a) is there interest/market for this .. what's the pain point on cost ..c) what else should I be thinking of? I'd probably go with high quality copper or some silver plated ohfc, but nothing exotic beyond that. speaker cables and interconnects would be my primary focus and would offer standard terminations. i also plan on having standard offerings, with the option of custom materials on request. review samples would be sent out prior to taking orders to generate some design feedback and credibility feedback, please ..i don't want to drop $ $ on bulk materials without having any way to recoup costs.
  19. you would only need to use the y-cable if you were running the signal to two separate subs, or if your sub didnt have a dedicated single LFE in. it looks like the KA-1000 doesn't and instead has a dedicated L/R rca input. I just picked up a nice quality y-splitter (single female to dual male) from monoprice for cheap. This would allow you to run a single line out of the onkyo and send the signal to both channels on the KA-1000.
  20. i'm licking my wounds and managed to score a free portable headphone amp ..so not a total bust for the day.
  21. it doesn't, it won't .. seller sold it to someone else before our agreed time of tomorrow.
  22. I'll let you know how it pairs up with my RF-5's ..
