  1. For rears, you may want to stay away from passive radiators in the back to open up more placement possibilities. See if you can find a nice set of KG 3 or KG 3.2? I'd even get the 2.2 or 2.5 over the KG2 for a rear application - BUT, the KG2 with the laser badges would be a nice looking match to the Forte (a mini Forte, have you...) I can now see the draw.... Go for it. I used a pair of KG1s for years with great results. the sealed cabinet makes placement easy, and they also have the classic Heritage look with laser logos.
  2. If the Quartets are PERFECT, they may be worth $400, but they should be flawless. Do they match the finish of your Forte? Do they fit in your space? They are pretty darn near as good as the Forte and I fine speaker. A bit overkill I think for rears, but others would disagree I'm sure.
  3. as for good choice? If they fit in your configuration, the KG HT system would be a GREAT choice! Rock on.
  4. Any KG will work well for the surrounds. If you don't have the space for a KG 2.2/5 for the center, a KV 3 or KV 2 would work and are plentiful on the used market for good prices.
  5. Congratulations - you have done a wise thing to not chase after the latest and greatest and to stick with the KGs. They offer tremendous value for the buck and look absolutely incredible doing it. I'll bet your system sounds really good! Sit back and enjoy the fruits of your efforts.
  6. In my dad's HT, I had a similar problem in that the sub needed to be in the back of the room, and we didn't want to run cable front-back-front (receiver and mains in the front). All receivers are unique, but I was able to wire the powered sub to the "Speaker B" terminals (both channels) and it seems to work. It's been going on that way for over 8 years and no problems. Since the B speakers are powered, the Denon doesn't seem to recognize them as a power sucking connection and thus cut the power to the mains. Works in stereo, dolby digital, etc..
  7. I found another pair of these locally, and couldn't resist the Walnut and the "mint" description (yea, I've heard that before....) Well, I am happy to report that these speakers are indeed as mint as they come. I cannot find one flaw on these, and I simply cannot believe it. I cleaned them up good and applied a fresh coat of oil and buffed. Even the risers are in mint condition. Unbelievable! (Yes, they sound great too!) Enjoy the pics.
  8. +1 - For anything important, I always shoot in RAW and deal with it in post. Sometimes, I like uncorrected white balance when it can capture the mood of the room and the live scene (: RAW allows me to do what I want.
  9. EXACTLY!!! Not to mention, KGs are really cheap on the used market - great bang for your buck, and plenty of sizes to choose from for your specific application needs. Sealed, ported, passive radiator, tall, short, wide, thin, etc.....all sound GREAT, too!
  10. KGs are awesome. Where are you located?
  11. Sounds fine - 2ft back like you mention should work very well.
  12. How high is your ceiling/door frame? My dad has a similar situation and mounted RS-3s above the door - tucked right under the ceiling (about 8' ceiling). Works just fine and is a tidy unobtrusive installation. Same height for the opposite speaker high on the wall.
  13. I did exactly the same thing with my 20s and C7. I did it more for peace of mind, but I didn't notice a night and day difference so many hear comment about. For the reasonable cost, it was still worth it for peace of mind that everything is fresh again. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it (:
  14. I am need of the crescent shaped logo escutcheon and logo or entire grill assembly for an RF-3. Please let me know if you have one you would sell. Thanks, T
  15. Please let us know if this fixes your issues.
  16. This might be a big factor - that and the cable differences. I still don't believe there can be a sizeable difference between most transports - be it a DVD player, CD player, etc... I have an older Denon DVD player with good DACs, but when running coax out, it sounds the same as my cheap Daewoo DVD player.
  17. Jason, I can't recommend this amplifier enough. I love it with my SVS passive sub http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-811&utm_source=googleps Also, with the sub that close to your seated position, I would make sure to tune it as low as possible on the crossover point (100 Hz would be very localized/directional in my opinion in the position you have it in.) Let the mains take on as much as they comfortably can - your music will also sound better this way.
  18. Hey Wuzzer - I find this interesting. Are you sure both players were hooked up with the same coax cable connections and settings? I find it troubling that there would be any difference in sound, unless you are playing them "direct" mode on the receiver? Using digital connections (no analog), aren't all players simply acting as a TRANSPORT, and allowing the receiver to do all the DAC and processing? If so, the players/trasnports should sound the same. T-
  19. Check to make sure you have the pos/neg terminals and wires correct on the receiver as well as the speakers... If the owner still had the original boxes/packaging, they were probably loved and cared for. Consider yourself lucky.
  20. Good price - Great speakers!!
  21. Easy - the 2 Ts: Tron and Transformers 3 Probably one of the funnest still remains a solid choice: Toy Story 2 openning scene - wow!
  22. I know this is the 2 channel section, but if you want to find out if you sub is set too hot, throw in the Tron Legacy BluRay and turn it up a little shy of reference level. You will then understand where you sub is at in regards to hot/cold in relation to the rest of your speakers (:
  23. I like my Denon with my KLFs very well. I have the AVR 2310. The 2311 and 2308 are both available here, and are great receivers for the money. http://www.ecost.com/s?rch&q=denon%20avr&n=msc-search&prc=%5B200%20TO%20400%5D&includeImage=true
  24. spent 2 days cleaning out my office and arranging furniture. Manged to "shoe horn" in my 3.2s around my desk. Futon on other wall, so fairly decent 2 channel lounging. It also sounds great at the desk! Love these 3.2s in a room this size.
