  1. I agree DWK, I just purchased a set of 2.1 Pro Media's for my IBM laptop and was floored! What an incredible sound! I had to do these justice and unplugged them from my laptop(wonderful sound cards in them )and hooked it up to my portable Panasonic diskman and WOW!! I could hear the sound from the basement perfectly, and even outside! A little boomie now and then but totally impressive! Who needs a stereo now, these puppies are the real McCoy, now I need a whole new desktop system with a "great sound card" to get rid of this hiss!! These would definitely give Bose a run for their money, hell, Klipsch should even market them as such, call them "The Bose Killers" This message has been edited by boomer9911 on 07-04-2001 at 09:19 PM
  2. I believe under the products page the new RSW-15 is not listed yet, as it won't be out until Sept\Oct from what I have heard.
  3. Great idea Bob, surf the forum for awhile, then find out whats playing at a "Klipsch Theatre Near You"
  4. I had to see it to believe it and 35 bids to boot!
  5. I can sympathize with you wired1 as I to have been waiting since February for my La Scala's(rs) to go with my(f)Khorns(now ordered a pair of oiled oak Hersey II's for s)and 2 KLF-C7's for c and rc. I wish my Dealer had informed me about the situation before I ordered(bad enough ordering blind with no test drive)and I didn't have to find out from the forum as to the Heritage problems(don't think he honestly knew since it's been awhile someone ordered Heritage and not Legends or Ref series). But regardless, good things come to those that wait and with Klipsch, I want them to take their time and get it right! If it takes past August(I was told delivery will start then)or until September, October, November, thats fine with me. SO LONG AS IT'S DONE RIGHT! my 2 cents or 1.65 cents US TextText
  6. I don't think we have them out West either Seb, not that I have heard of(I'd be there in a flash). Do you have any info BobG of any Canadian theaters with the Klipsch set up? I would think Vancouver or Toronto would be on the list. thanx.
  7. I think it's a great idea, and I'm truly impressed by Klipsch allowing this, considering your not buying from them, but 2nd hand from someone else. Try that with any other company and they'd probably boot you off their site. I to have posted several Heritage series I have found while cruising the newsgroups and was abit worried about after feedback. You guys at Klipsch are truly class BobG for anyone who uses the newsgroups try rec.audio.marketplace I've seen quite a few Klipsch pieces there.
  8. I have been using the Adcom ACE-515 Enhancer for over 8 years now(bought it at the American Forces Exchange in Frankfurt Germany) and found it to be quite helpful. I recently moved south from a remote community in the High Arctic(Inuvik NWT)where the power was supplied by diesel generators. We had power outages that were continious(daily, weekly) and it kicked in everytime. I did find that it also removed a slight hiss as opposed to running my components out of the wall directly. I feel it's an added piece of Insurance, and with the price of gear these days, well worth the investment. Back in 92 I paid 150DM\65US for it, can't go wrong there, still baffled at the cost of conditioners\surge protecters now a days, ouch! Just wish it had more plug ins.
  9. I almost forgot, man I love looking at your stereo pics Qman This message has been edited by boomer9911 on 06-17-2001 at 02:30 PM
  10. Evan, DON'T DO IT! I too have a pair of LaScala's (on order) and want a nice finish, (wanted Oak veneer to match Khorns and Hersey II's)but asked SteveP and Qman how to finish them. I then cancelled the Raw's with 1 Dealer and then ordered a 2nd pair from another finished(who I have since stuck with faithfully). I just cancelled them, and changed back to Raw Birch (up here it's another 20% add on to finish 500+). I will redo them myself will stain and a couple of coats of finish. I went around to refinishers($100 per speaker CDN with attaching oak veneer was the best deal I got), read SteveP's and Qmans ideas and decided on what they said. I will attach a link below for staining them. They key thing is, it's "plywood" with a "veneer" finish. I originally asked for Oiled Oak finish to match my Khorns(93)and now Hersey II's (why Klipsch keeps the LaScala's in 3 finishes is beyond me, Raw, Black, or Lacquered). Now I want to try to match as best as possible to the finish of the Khorns and Hersey II's. check this site out: http://www.flecto.com/products/wat_ro.html When they press the veneer to the wood it's done in a hydraulic press (ie. 5000 lbs force per square inch). You can't achieve this with clamps. In 5 years time it will peel off. Watch the corners start to go away. strip em, sand em, and stain em IMO *cheers* This message has been edited by boomer9911 on 06-17-2001 at 01:46 AM
  11. Back to the bowling with cubes eh? Sounds like BobG should be kicking some butt! Push the Product(seen it MANY times), who cares what you like, and after what YOU have done HornEd, someone needs a wake up call! I too have taken to the SVS sub myself(not an owner yet)but if the new RSW-15 doesn't cut it with the Heritages I'm history, who cares. My local Dealer actually knows this, I gave him the website for SVS to check out, and he even steered me to the KEF TDM-45B subwoofers. You should move to Canada, at least here(Alberta) they are more than glad to show Klipsch's product and let you decide. My local Dealer would LOVE a guy like you. I'm willing to bet if you want it, he'd ship it, hey, thats what NFTA's for. Regardless, you have every right to be pissed! This message has been edited by boomer9911 on 06-17-2001 at 12:22 AM
  12. The "Bubble" turntable on top of the Receiver with the ole 2 bookshelf speakers...OH YES... Born in 61, but I remember, ours was from Sears. I think Uriah Heep was my 1st album...or...KISS, Jethro Tull anyone? This message has been edited by boomer9911 on 06-16-2001 at 09:26 PM
  13. True Ray, I guess I'm speaking to much as a single guy(girlfriend-it's your money). Went shopping for more gear last night with the addition of 2 Hersey's(sb) and another amp so I still had visions of OH BABY running through my head. I still remember my exwifes face when she saw the Khorns for the first time, and that was a single move up from Pioneer bookshelves, great price, bad idea! My humble apologizes, also if you got a good deal on the Marantz keep it, but 5.1 will do a trade on the Energy speakers if you want to upgrade and I believe the RB's are there. Take her with you to check out what they have, she'll appreciate it. There are 2 nice sound rooms, and they'll hook up whatever you want to hear as they have your Receiver in stock and plenty of Klipsch (Monitors, KEF, etc). A little give and take is good, I know, she took everything I had...HA! Except my Khorns and then that would have been real nasty! This message has been edited by boomer9911 on 06-15-2001 at 03:30 PM
  14. CANCELLED What Ray said. This message has been edited by boomer9911 on 06-15-2001 at 03:14 PM
  15. Hey Eddy, welcome to the Klipsch BB I think the new Reference series speakers would go nicely with your Marantz SR19(RF7 or 5's, RC7, and RS7's)and a KSW15 subwoofer(on sale). I have the Marantz SR18EX myself. Go to Audio 5.1 and talk to Shan(owner) or Jeff (sales rep), Becky (Shans wife is quite nice to). I'm sure for 3.5K he can get you a great deal on a Klipsch package system if your talking cash(experience there). I can tell you the "new" RF series isn't there yet(I was there today spending more $ as usual) but should be in next week or the week after. He does have the Synergy series in stock and KSW subs as well(on sale). You'll find them quite personal and extremely helpful there. Just tell him what you have and what your looking for(including wife factor). But if you REALLY want a deal, I know he has a few of the Legend series left(KLF30's 20's, 10's(?), not sure about the C7 either as I believe I bought his last 2).I think he still has the Legends in the back as he took them off his static display to make room for the new products coming in. There are quite a few members here who speak highly of the Legend series, but if he's got them, and they are discontinued, I'm sure he'd give you a heck of a deal. Stay with Klipsch, I can assure you, as everyone here can, you WON't be disappointed in their product! Good Luck, but be careful, once bitten by the HT bug it's curtains. I started with a pair of Klipschorns and an Adcom Enhancer in February, and that was it(sold everything else)and below is my system today, and always under construction Tim Khorns(93)(f) La Scala's(sb)- August Hersey II's(s)- August X 2-KLF-C7's(c,rc) Subwoofer(self Xmas present 2001) Adcom ACE-515 Enhancer(line conditioner\surge protect) Marantz SR18EX A\V Receiver 3-Marantz MA700 mono block amps(Khorns, C7 rc) Marantz DV3100 DVD(upgrading to DV7100 pro scan) Marantz VM5100 S-VHS hifi Marantz DR4160(3 disk carousel and single tray CDR) Marantz CD4050 dual casette Toshiba 50HX70 HDTV DVDO Iscan V2 (line doubler) All Monster speaker\audio\video\digital cables. PS. I think you should ditch that Hyundai and get a Hummer if you know what I mean They do take trades as well at Audio 5.1. This message has been edited by boomer9911 on 06-16-2001 at 03:14 AM
  16. How true Max, I'm presently making the jump from 2 channel to 6 channel, just waiting on my La Scala's. Yes, I miss the wonderful love my Adcom GFA-585 Limited Edition amp made to my Khorns in 2 channel Or just hook up my now exwife's Hersey II's through and Adcom speaker selector box and quad if I wanted. Oh well, I'll let you know how the HT goes when my LaScala's® get here in August.
  17. HornEd, Yes, please do let us know how the Ultra's work out, congrats on the purchase. From what I've read about SVS nice product, and I'm now interested in SVS(just lacking a good sub in my system).Just placement with Khorns and LaScala's could be tense. I may try 1 16-46PS for starters or the dual 20-39PS phased in line with my Khorns, if I can only find 4 good corners. But if what I read is true, your in for a wild ride. Have you sent the neighbours any form of warnings yet?!....shaken, but not stirred! I'm still hoping the RSW15 will be a better match than the KSW15 for my Khorns and LaScala's or could be the KEF TDM45B...side firing, bottom firing.....decisions decisions....I'M SO CONFUSED! Tom speaks highly of Klipsch as he has KLF 30's and C7. I believe the SS line will run around 5K (on their site). Their "do it yourself" subs are something else, check out the "WATERHEATER". WOW...Enjoy Ed. This message has been edited by boomer9911 on 06-14-2001 at 02:59 AM
  18. Chris is a great guy. I spoke to him over the phone over the Heritage issue(I ordered a pair of LaScala's in Feb)and he invited me to the store to talk as he had some spare time, which was great. He then called, while I was there, to Hope to find out the progress with the Heritage series. That kind of personal touch(PR) is deeply appreciated and goes along way. No wonder I'm more than happy to turn people on to Klipsch as a proud owner. We talked about lots of stuff, you know BobG, you get it all the time, banners, tshirts, coffee mugs . Still have my ball cap from 93 if I may add and in mint condition to boot. You folks have a great Distributor in him (quite personal) and if I can plug, Shan at Audio 5.1 here in Edmonton is one heck of a Dealer as well, he knows his Klipsch. 19. If you have a Dealer who won't budge on the MSRP they are not worth purchasing from. The MSRP is a guideline thats all and does not mean that is the "set" price. As they say, credit doesn't rule everything, cash can still do ALOT of talking...OH YEAH!
  20. I agree, the Marantz SR8000 is a nice unit. I think Onkyo is pretty good as well, either the DS787 or the Integra 7.1 are both 7.1 and affordable. But if you have a few xtra bucks have a look at the new Marantz SR19EX A\V Receiver, well within a price limitation and it's expandable and won't be extinct anytime soon(6.1 and 7.1). Denon seems to be choice on the board, never tried them myself. Klipschorns 93(f) LaScala's(sb)(August ) Hersey II's (s)(August X ) 2- KLF C7's(c,rc) Adcom ACE-515 Enhancer(line conditioner\surge protect) Marantz SR18EX A\V Receiver 3- Marantz MA700 mono blocks(Khorns, C7 rc) Marantz DV7100 Marantz VM5100 SVHS hifi Marantz DR4160 (3 disk carousel with single tray CDR) Marantz CD4050 cassette Toshiba 50HX70 HDTV DVDO Iscan V2 (line doubler) all Monster Cables speaker\audio\video\digital Happy Listening----------------------------- This message has been edited by boomer9911 on 06-17-2001 at 12:34 AM
  21. I agree with the JG, stay with the Heritage(another pair of LaScala's would be great, but so would a pair of Hersey's). I think the KSW15 would be good with what you have and price range you mention. Or wait and see what the new RSW15 sub will be like. From the opinions on the forum, it's supposedly leaves the KSW15 in the dust. Klipschorns 93(front) LaScala's(rear)(August ) 2- KLF C7's(centre,rear centre) Subwoofer(Xmas present 2001) Adcom ACE-515 Enhancer(line conditioner\surge protect) Marantz SR18EX A\V Receiver 2- Marantz MA700 mono blocks(Khorns) Marantz DV3100 DVD Marantz VM5100 SVHS hifi Marantz DR4160 (3 disk carousel with single tray CDR) Marantz CD4050 cassette Toshiba 50HX70 HDTV DVDO Iscan V2 (line doubler) all Monster Cables speaker\audio\video\digital
  22. I still can't get over it.....2nd to Bose, now that's truly funny...LOL... Man, I almost spit my beer all over my laptop when I started reading that, to funny, guys been drinking to much friggin tea. Looks like bowling for cubes is the leading activity in North America, 2nd must be listening to music through Klipsch, or is it bowling "with" cubes "while" listening Klipsch, I can see that . This message has been edited by boomer9911 on 06-09-2001 at 08:17 PM
  23. BobG You said it right there, that exact same thing happened to me over my Khorns. There they sat(93), sales guy knew nothing about them, except how "big" they were, pain in the butt to move around, corners only, nothing about the dynamics, and he stated how I should stay "mainstream" like everyone else and steered me towards Polks, CVega's,B&W, etc. I had to wait till the evening shift came in and a "16" year old kid(working part-time)knew everything about Klipsch(PWK fan) and swore up and down by them, you like "live" concerts, well here you go, and he helped compare them to the Polks, CVegas that were there. There was no comparision, and I appreciated his insight not having a clue what a horn loaded system was. When I bought them, he thanked me for the opportunity to strut what he knew since he was the only sales guy that really bothered to learn about them, and even he was going to be a horn owner one day. But even today with the 3 local Dealers here, there is not one piece of Heritage on static display or in sound rooms for people to see and hear. Plenty of Legends, RF's, KSW, etc, but no Heritage, that is a HUGE set back for you guys on the HT high end side IMO. I know people who bought Ref's because thats all there was(they wanted to change, but I informed them to stay with Klipsch, they wouldn't be disappointed). They probably would have bought Heritages if they were available for their viewing and listening pleasure. I push Klipsch every opportunity I can, but like I told our Distributor (Chris) for up here in the West, Klipsch, the Distributors, and Dealers have to get together and get the Heritage lines out for John Q public to review, as an owner we can only say so much.
