  1. I'd trade up for the 82s in a heartbeat If your really into movies my other suggestion would be take the sub back or upgrade as well, go for the sw115 if you have to do an in house trade or do a return and take a look around a few other internet subs as its only rated at 28hz and will drop like a rock before it hits 20hz, this will make a bigger difference than trading 62s for 82s imo...
  2. nice, a wise decision if your using rca for the sub right now I'd keep using rca unless theres a noise problem / interference, then try xlr, if you haven't had problems in the passed with rca theres no reason to have them now when you get it run emo q to get some basic settings setup but then go over all of them again and tweak them, if your willing to put in the time to get the settings proper you should love your new toy
  3. I had audio dropouts with xbox on an earlier firmware version dont remember which, it has since been cured for me within the last year
  4. I think that would leave a sour taste in anyones mouth, mine included. Fortunately not all unions are like that but they do like to hold on to what they have as long as possible, some are certainly managed better than others and not all fist pounders. My sour taste comes from thousands taking 20% cuts and watching nearly 1 million $ get awarded to 200 on discretionary "merrit" raises when reasoning behind the cuts was "we have no money" I will say that those who received the top increases were those within or near the inner circle, this to say the least makes quality american goods further out of reach than ever before. Stack this ontop of healthcare that seems to rise double digit % every year and the american dream really is a thing of the passed. Not only are we all eligible for those imaginary merrit raises the reasoning behind never receiving them for 99% is that theres still no money in the fund. These aren't based on top preformers but simply those closest making it more disgusting than anything. I will keep the rest of the disgust to myself as this thread is best left open [] Those fires that locked people and minors to their demise are truly the horrors of bad business practices and the bad part about govt regulation is something terrible has to happen first to provide the ambition for them to act. While many labor laws exist now this might not be the case without union support and without proper regulation it may have not been as effective. Smarter revisions can always be enacted or entirely new sets of regulation could better manage many things. And while common thought that regulation prohibits business I would say that poor or misguided regulation could be even more of a problem. See our latest economy crash for details on poor regulation And while I commend you on being responsible and for doing the right thing mustang guy many many other business owners or entities are not nearly as responsible thus the need for both regulations and organized labor. This will help ensure all are on a reasonably equal playing field.
  5. You answered your own question, if your working full time for your 10 dollars a week then you will be buying thatch huts and rice cakes supporting your own economy, unless the people down the road import thatch huts and rice cakes for half the price of the local ones, then your economy will be screwed too and you will be buying imported rice cakes wondering how you could afford rice cakes that cost twice as much. Then in time your local production of rice cakes and thatch huts will be non exisitant due to lack of demand. They will then dismantle your current organized labor in attempt to cut your wages to a severe degree and give themselves bonus checks claiming they are saving the economy. After this you will barely be able to afford the imported cakes and thatch huts and your current economy that produces the same cakes and huts at a higher cost even after the cuts will cease to exist and move to the other country citing cheaper labor costs. In the end the winners will be those who got bonus checks citing they saved the very economy that they cared so little about. This is the very reason organized labor exists, to protect workers from undue hazards and corruption. This keeps the playing field level, without this we'd be working at the age of 4 for a nickel and retire when we die still working for a nickel. You'd probably only make it to the age of 6 before losing 3 limbs and then a head from poor hazardous work conditions or worse yet you'd probably be working for a nickel that is only good at the company shop forever an indentured servant
  6. xbox does have 1080p content... it has a scaler built in to, 1080p as well, mines set to auto I think. I went from using a marantz 5004 as a preamp to this and it was a welcomed addition
  7. I'd get the umc since you have amps already, they will have a new board upgrade for I think 200? That will utilize 3d sometime after the xmc releases. Neither do 9.1, xbox or ps3 can do any network stuff I need like streaming movies and music from pc or internet apps You will also get the upgrade card and then you can sell the umc later and go with the xmc if you so choose. I use mine for movies, games on xbox, and music, its one sweet peice of equipment considering what they are giving it away for. Take a look at the emotiva forum regarding what the xmc all offers to see if you can justify 1000 over the umc The bug issues while still possible in some cases have largely been taken care of with fw releases Switching sources is a simple press of the button on the 30lb burglar stopper remote [], you can also customize via the menu which button takes which audio or video input sources, the umc is pretty friendly with quite a bit of customization
  8. 100 bucks is a awesome score, I toyed around with some 5.5s on my xpa2 and they sounded pretty good depending on what type of connectivity you need will vary what model of receiver to get, for stereo I like marantz receivers you can search around your local craigslist for receivers as well, heres a link to search through your local area with ease http://www.searchtempest.com my guess is the amp you have is bad for klipsch and their sensitivity if its hissing I'd quite playing music through there until you get something else
  9. Orginized labor has been beneficial for tons of things including your comments above be it safety standards or 40 hour work weeks. Even non union people have benefited from unions work establishing fair employment practices for all, most seem to forget this. While I'm not a union member our state removed unions out of force. It does tip the scales towards any other country because equality in a workplace costs extra money like you mentioned. I'm sure chinese employees would be happy to have the equality we have but their govt dictates otherwise, quite similiar to our state. When you factor in that Bob a non union labor employee can make 20-30 hr working a line with benefits or Pedro can make 1.50 it becomes simple economics when they can produce in mexico or china at a rate of 10 times cheaper. Unions at this point hardly affect companies choosing to go overseas with exception to when companies want to reduce employee pay by 50% and the organized labor rejects it. Ours just got axed by 20% overnight with no ability or recourse to stop it, somehow the ones at the top still got raises, wish I had a union. Organize china, I say definitely
  10. I say go for it, we offered up a challenge at work to finish a bag of oreos in 30 mins with 1 glass of milk for a small prize, it was finished with barely time to spare by 1 person, you wouldn't beleive how bad those things actually are for you in that type of capacity. With speaking to the person afterwards and looking at the package nutrition facts they are ungodly bad for you if not eaten in moderation. The real winners were those who didn't finish the package and got to watch that person suffer afterwards [6] On a side note keep up the good work and enjoy the extra energy benefits
  11. The real question is how much american are you buying when you "buy american" Do I get .001% american made for my $ or do I get 100% I'm willing to bet most are to the extreme left While klipsch may assemble a select few products in hope how much of their business really comes from the outside areas, hopes at best a pebble in the ocean Not to put what they do down as I enjoy their products to a large degree but in some regard hope almost represents a last standing failed model for us in how we let it all slip away The real kicker would be fixing tax loopholes and penelizing businesses that dont meet a certain threshold of american production in % but then we pay more for products because labor costs increase. I bet if you ask america if they want increased product costs right now 95% of the voting population will say no

    sub advice

I would take 1 epik or ed over the dual rw12d, the 12d's lack real depth, for 1500 and going with a 1 sub solution I'd go for the rythmik or ed's a7 350/450 http://www.rythmikaudio.com/FV15HP.html dual solutions would be one of the 2 sets dual empires (you'll pay shipping on these as well so no 1 dollar saved) http://www.epiksubwoofers.com/empire.html dual a5-350 http://www.edesignaudio.com/index.php?cPath=2_41

    sub advice

heres a graph to a few subs like the empire or rythmik also theres a pb13 ultra on ebay right now ending I think tomorrow maybe thats up your alley if your considering it already the question at hand is what do you want to spend on a sub http://community.klipsch.com/forums/t/162582.aspx
  14. 700s pretty fair, 600-900 is what I usually see, I've passed on a set for 400 already imo using them in a ht it becomes cumbersome and expensive to timbre match them my opinion is I could assemble a rf82 ht set cheaper and easier than a klf set and to my ears the reference set will be superior in ht simply due to the center and surrounds being far more crisp, however if your going to sell your kg5.5s and use klf30s in place of them as 2 channel I'd say go ahead, they are still some of the best stereo speakers
  15. I agree with this. Makes you wonder why when someone buys one or the other, they say that it destroys the other. your looking at 5db - 13db difference in areas and 13db difference being around 20 hz is close enough to consider destruction []
  16. I like the info I've seen on the rythmik it seems to compete right on par with the much more expensive svs pb13 ultra for that reason I won't put the svs in here http://www.rythmikaudio.com/FV15HP.html I have the a7-350 and it does a pretty good job, I would suggest at least an a5-350 or better from ed, the lt1300 amp is on backorder though so my first choice would be the rythmik http://www.edesignaudio.com/index.php?cPath=2_41 http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-15h.html there is always the epik empire as well but I think the choices above cover the bases pretty good Also you can take a look at seaton submersive, they are suppose to be killer subs at the 2k pricepoint, many reviews with them vs svs pb/pc 13 ultras
  17. dsl wont compete with time warner in terms of speed/price, you don't need an immediate alternative before calling, simply call and request customer retention as you are unhappy, if they dont lower the price with ease I would be suprised, I had time warner in a different location prior to charter
  18. NICE BUY! I wonder if that sequence will get him 30 tv's [^o)] Let us hope so that he may share a fantastic tv with all
  19. If your thinking about rf7s then make sure to get a very very good sub for them, I've owned 2 different svs subs and they are a great company, they have gotten more expensive since coming out Whats your budget area and expectations?
  20. $25, 20mbps down with 3mpbs up from charter talk to timewarners customer retention, the normal people you speak to first have no ability to change your bill, typcally customer retention have the ability to offer their customers good pricing if they think your unhappy or leaving, I'm pretty straight forward when I call for lower rates
  21. I don't fully understand nas but get the concept and was considering something similiar. I was thinking about adding a htpc under my tv so I could keep storage and stream everything, but then I could already do that if I toss on some extra hd's to my existing pc. Went out yesterday and picked up a 2tb hard drive dedicated for tv shows and movies to rip on and stream to both xbox360s via a program called tversity, awesome little thing covers tons of formats. Everything I'm streaming is 720p for now until I get more storage as even 720p files are still HUGE. Although I guess it doesn't matter much as netflix and hulu both only carry 720p and seem to be narrow in content. Both 360s are wired so all shows show up blazing fast with no delay and theres no goofy gui like netflix and hulu to have to sort through not to mention the subscriptions and the lag times. The lag in the gui and streaming seem to get worse by the day with both of those companies. I guess once I build up my collection a bit more those companies can hit the curb. I've been very disappointed in streaming thus far from both companies. Wish I would have started this a while ago and definitely before the flood in taiwan that drove up hd prices. Downside is apparently xp only covers 2tb drives so I might have to upgrade this pc depending on how far I dive in, or maybe break down and do a nas setup as well
  22. Both are practically the same price, literally the same size, weight, and amp power, the klipsch holds the 15" vs 12" so one would assume they will be quite literally be neck and neck without see'ing identical measuring conditions I've owned 2 svs subs before and I have no idea why someone would think the pb12 was so special to put down someone for the sw115 SVS PB12 NSD Dims: 20.9" (H) x 17.3" (W) x 22"(D) Weight: 66 pounds STA-400D Sledge with 400 watts RMS continuous power (800 watts peak dynamic power) 18-150 Hz +/- 3 dB Klipsch sw-115 DIMENSIONS: 19.75" (50.2cm) H x 17.5" (44.5cm) W x 26" (66cm) D WEIGHT: 69lbs (31.3kg) AMPLIFIER POWER: 400 watts continuous @ <2% THD / Dynamic Power*: 800 watts FREQUENCY RESPONSE: 18Hz-150Hz ± 3dB
  23. I personally think your biggest weakness is the sub, my suggestion is sell the sub and use any money your looking at spending on towers to fund the purchase of a new and much stronger sub, the stf-1 is only rated to 32hz, your going to be missing out on alot, then decide what your budget is for that and ask around, there are tons of options depending on room size and budget Get the best sub you can
  24. The fact is you bought a entry level sub and expected something that doesn't exist, you only have yourself to blame for that bad purchase, you need to research and look at specs before making a purchase, and then if your not sure what your looking at maybe you should ask on this very useful forum, others have asked and I've steered people away from the 12" for the reason of it isn't a great buy and won't be a superstar in the ht If you would have looked that sub is rated worse than the rw12d that came before it and that was selling for 300 shipped very often, I wouldn't buy a vehicle without knowing how many miles are in the tank why would you buy audio equipment lacking the same concept? The 15" is rated much better than the 12 for a marginal cost increase making it a much smarter buy but still wont be a end all be all sub for many people but should preform just fine for a good number of others, theres tons of subs in this pricerange Sorry guy, I'm pretty sure most of us aren't blind followers and statements like that are foolish, no reason to hate a company because you made a poor purchase choice without proper knowledge of a product, you maybe on the wrong forum if you dislike klipsch this much
  25. nice, you should try making a platform for that beautiful center under the tv or maybe angle it quite a bit upward , how does the sub compare to subs youve used prior, did you have any prior?
