  7. Thanks she throws some serious sound!
  8. The B&C750s needed extra padding. Man those things are hot! Dialed in there are so fast. Not the last word in bass but truly amazing for classical and jazz... the sound stage is so large... makes me think I'm at a concert hall. Thanks for the kind words. I'm going to use to compare some mono blocks Im building based on DIYtubes IKEs and some custom iron Transcendar made for me. Should be a real brain teaser as to compare and contrast.
  9. Repost from Audiokarma but showing how I spent my summer. The long and short of it is... Big old school Dynaco Power paired with classic Klipsch sound with a twist. (Big thanks to Dave for the idea). In my guest room Im using a switch I made... Ill be able to alternate between an ampandsound new mono block Im in process of working out and amp and some old school Dynaco power. The Dynaco MKIII story: Although I love SE amps, I have a special place in my heart for Dynaco products and love the no nonsense grunt of the MKIIIs. I’ve built 3 MKIIIs before and wanted to duplicate or improve on. The same basic formula from last time was used… DIYtube driver PCB, Tubes for Pro power supply, and Triode electronics Iron, Triode electronics chassis. The Triode chassis is an odd duck, modern binding posts, IEC, but small 60s style tube sockets. Dynakitparts had NOS clinch style (Molded in place). I would have loved to use Belton sockets but they would not fit. oldsound got me some NOS Pamona binding posts… I tried 3 sets from different venders without a good fit. The Pamona’s only accept banana style but man are they great fit. I’ve used wimma caps before and loved the results, so I went with Wimma 5% coupling caps. All the resistors are on the underside for a cleaner look. Bench results: Input 1.7V P-P for full power out. Max power at 1 kHz 60 Watts RMS. Full power Bandwidth before distortion is 20 to 20 kHz at 36 Watts RMS. La Scala on steroids: In the last 3 years I’ve built 3 Cornscala’s each year or so… a few Econo-waves or hornloaded speakers… Having gotten to listen to a lot of the DIY communities best ideas, I still have a total soft spot for the Klipsch La Sala; even building a pair many years ago. The pair in the pictures came about as ampsandsound has been growing, I’ve described the 1626 SE amp as my personal favorites. At .75watts the 103db of the La Scala aids the flea-watt sound. The La Scala is an original industrial La Scala. Gone are the Klipsch Horns. It had a new stock crossover and all drivers were perfect, but in stock form it was ripping my ear drum apart. I knew the top-end was my issue. The Design goal was fast transients not earth shacking bass. A 2 way La Slaca was a new take on a true classic. My experience with Dave’s eliptacal horns and B&C drivers has shown me that I didn’t need it as a 3way. Fastlane audio provides the Eliptical horn paired to a B&C750 crossed at 500hz with ALK AP12-500. The Orig K43 15” was kept.
  10. The Cornscala C is brilliant... Ive thought about ordering one myself. I like the 2380 hot in a 3way... I like it a great deal more than the K401. That said the Eliptrac in hands and feet better than a M2380. There are real benefits to a tratrix flare. I paid to buy back a pair of corn walls Dave Harris shoe horned a set of his eliptracs into. The Eliptrac 400 will fit a Cornwall C... Will prob need to use a B&C DE85. Dave has tried a Eminence 2" that he likes that is also low profile and sounds great per his report. That combo with the tweeter seems completely bad ***. Dave might make a mini-motorbaord to mount the horn to and fill the gaps. The Cornwall C with the fatal horn or Dave's (My pref) would be killer.
  11. The amps in the pics rant mine... they look nice. The outputs are Tomico I believe. The pair for $500 or less is a solid purchase. Id ask the seller if they are quite. Our Heritage speakers are not so fun when run with noisy amps. The speaker looks like all JBL/TAD parts. And thank you for the kind words.!!!!!!!!
  12. Im curious... 2 hum pots plus 1 vol? 2 tap pots for bal and 1 master vol?
  13. Build looks solid for that thinking. whats the circuit/tubes? Its P-2-P so anyone can redo if needed. Is it in the 200 range? If not go Decware kit or DIYtube kit and Edcor iron.
