  1. Here's the phone number: 317-489-6572 Tried that already, no answer, no return phone call from message left.
  2. The gear store / website is still up, but I'm having trouble making a purchase. Any suggestions, Klipsch?
  3. I've had the KP201s. They don't need a sub set up correctly in a small to mid size room. Especially with SS amplification. Mine responded best to a 200 watt Carver M1.0t with the Carver C1 preamp. That preamp, has a good range of treble and bass control and really allowed me dial them in to my liking. They will respond well to many other amps too, that was just my favorite combo. Should be no need to do crossovers. I think there wouldn't be much benefit unless there is a problem.
  4. I want to buy an inexpensive portable speaker to use with my iphone and / or older ipod. Any suggestions out there? I'm not looking for awesome sound reproduction - I'll use my Heritage speakers for quality. I just want something that sounds decent and will have a bit more volume and better sound than the iphone by itself. If it had the option of plugging in and using batteries as a backup that would be even better. Any suggestions? I don't know what the going rate is for this, but lets say, not to exceed $100. $30 is fine, $75 is fine. Let me know if you have used something that you like and would recommend.
  5. SOLD. Thank you. The receiver finds a good home!
  6. The Fisher is still available. I have a few interested, but at this point, no takers yet. I've never shipped to Canada and don't know what is involved.
  7. It was hard enough to decide to sell this, stop the banter about how good this is, or I'll change my mind!
  8. Weekend bump for a great sounding tube receiver!
  9. Fisher 400 Receiver, restored to excellent condition by none other than Mr. NOSValves. I had looked for a while to get a really nice unit to start with and then had Craig work his magic on it with a complete deluxe rebuild with a basic MPX alignment. The end result is an awesome receiver that should be good for the next 30 years. The work was done one year ago and it has served as a spare bedroom system, so it doesn't have a lot of hours on it since the restore. Why would I sell it? My stereo rooms are disappearing as we downsize; next year we'll have 3 kiddos in college - yes at the same time. The same reason my StarChiefs left the other day, and Blueberry Extreme last month. The Fisher 400 is a 65 watt FM Stereo receiver. It has enough power to rock any Klipsch speakers, and it sounds incredible. It is a cosmetically good unit. Price is $700 plus shipping. You can not buy a nice unit with case and have it restored for this. Local pickup and a nice test / listening session is welcome. I could also meet somebody on the west side of Chicago next week Wednesday / Thursday as I'll be in town for work. I live in Des Moines.
  10. For sale is an awesome pair of Welborne Labs 45 Star Chief monoblock amps. This pair was factory assembled and functions as intended. They are dead quiet. These are 1.8 watts output, which is plenty for an efficient set of speakers unless you are trying to have an outdoor concert. The Star Chiefs are Welborn's top of the line SET amps. They include the following upgrades over the DRD45s: Caddock Foil resistors, Riedon non-inductive wirewound resistors, pure silver solid-core Teflon wrapped wire, a completely redone power supply incorporating a regulated capacitor-choke-fet-capacitor design for the high voltage, ceramic fuses, and NO Electrolytic caps. A film cap is used for the 6N1P's cathode bypass capacitor, a film capacitor bypasses the Ultrapath ASC oil caps. Construction is "top notch" with a heavy aluminum plates on top and solid Bubinga wood base and Cardas 5 way binding posts. Tubes are National Union 45s and Svetlana 61NPs. Components are quality such as Electra-Print output transformers and plate chokes, and Hammond power chokes. Local pickup and a listening session is encouraged; shipping will be two insured boxes about 55 pounds total, with an estimated cost of $65 to either coast. The price is $1,450 plus shipping. If you have ever wanted a pair of these, now is your chance. They don't come up for sale often. Second Amp:
  11. Sorry, you are right, I shouldn't have interrupted this thread. No harm meant.
  12. If your really wanting a nice pair of 45 Mono's; I have been considering selling my Welborne Star Chief 45's. Try finding a nice pair of these for sale - it isn't easy. They are very good.
  13. Yeah, and can I have some spare knobs for my UA-1's?
  14. I've got both and they are a different sound. Have you heard Khorns? The Cornwalls are very good speakers. If the price is right you can always buy and resell if you don't like. I'll say what another has said before, the Cornwalls are more forgiving and easier to sound great in a room that is not optimum for Klipshorns. Some days I like my Corwalls sound better than the Klipschorns, other days the big boys win.
  15. I smiled when I read this. Sounded a little like something I would do. I'd think about it for a couple days, maybe make a small comment to float the idea, then at the right time, mention it directly. Of course knowing the whole time there was no way it was ever going to happen.... ;-)
  16. Thanks for the link. I enjoyed reading through the different thoughts. I have a lot of amps, the VRD ST45, Welborne Star Chief, and Transcendent OTL's get the most play. Then comes the Heathkit UA-1's, McIntosh MC2205, Fisher 400, Carver M1.0t ..... I really don't have a favorite, they are all special. The VRD has the most slam and presence; its also great a low volume. The Welborne Star Chiefs are simply majic as are the Transcendent OTL amps. The Carver I like with the Cornwalls and H1's, but not the Khorns.
  17. I haven't seen much / any discussion of First Watt amps on this forum. The First Watt designs seem like they might be a good match for Klipschorns, Cornwalls, or LaScalas. Has anybody paired a First Watt amp with any of the heritage speakers? If so, which First Watt amp and how did you like it?
  18. Good eye, DaddyDee!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Time to update the post, some new in the pic; some the same. Anybody notice any differences?
