  1. hmm would you add paint to a artists picture after he said it was done... OK, sorry, a purist here... Most of the time, but read on. I used to get mad at "add ons" till I tried a few in my younger years that worked great! Built our own PA in college for my band and used different manufacturers drivers in different cabinets basically what your doing here too. (We upgraded speakers as we made more $$) As a caveat... I would hold on to "Origional Parts" and NOT sell them off, unless you never (and I mean NEVER) want to re sell your equipment again. And make someone elses day finding hard to get parts too. I, too, wonder what a great digital electronic cross over might do for a pair of speakers, before the amp gets the signal.(Rather than passive, as it is now.) As far as bi amping..That may be tricky... The whole set up was not laid out this way. But I am sure it has been done. You might have a battle with how much do I turn up the low end vs the mid-highs too? Just my 2 cents. PS, Makes you wonder what "high end" JBL drivers...Not the retail crap, but the good stuff...And one of ALK's superior crossovers might sound like too in a k horn or Cornwall. Hard part would be to get a side by side comparison.
  2. What would be an ideal size for a dedicated room for a HT. K horns, heresy and cornwalls may be used....what are your thoughts... Wish kilpsch made a guide for Ideal room sizes for their speakers... (It might make a great marketing tool too..Just a thought.) Eventually 2 adults 2 kids...aprox 8 ft screen have not decided couches or theatre seats...Gonna be a fun spring planning this all out. OR----- Especially the k horns, if I just want them for music say in a big family/ great room what would be ideal room size for the k horns here too?? Any thought and or experiences would be appreciated too. Room size pics...etc.. Thanks!!!!!
  3. check out my link above you will get the info. And yes, she did pass away too...Before any of her BIG success happened. Such a shame.
  4. 500-1200....IMO looking at Ebay the last year or so. As with anything used...It is only worth what someone else sees is a "value" and willing* to pay for too. *-willing and able to..LOL Good luck!!

  8. I think these were the General Motors La Scalas that were on Ebay about 6 months ago. (They wanted 2400 dollars for them, as they are the industrial models.. I told him it was way too much, they didn't get ONE bid.) Yes Klipsch made an industrial model for bands, DJ, PA use. These look unlike the prefered Industrial version (plastic coated plywood, with metal trim) to be in Birch and yes beaten up pretty bad. A real fixer upper... Might be good for parts though.... LOL
  9. my best advice is never sell yourself short. This includes Audio. If you have to wait a tad more...so what,,, The years of enjoyment you will get by buying what is the best, far outweigh the cost cutting "almost as good" syndrome. Save your $$$ and buy what your heart and your ears tell ya!!!!

  11. Justin the "all knowing" ...LOL. It amazes me how much you know about all this stuff. You will have to explain your name to us sometime in this forum too. When I was a kid, I used to memorize stereo "Hi Fi" information as far as amps, speakers, and other technical data. (This was like my own version of baseball stats, or baseball cards to me.) The local guys at the Hi Fi Buys and Soundpro Stereo stores (Who were my "heros," were nice to me because I cared to learn about what it was they sold, and more important WHY they liked this or that piece.) These stores published handouts and magazines, as well as reading Stereo Review and other publications became and became part of my life. It's nice, even at 40 yrs old today, my love for audio, music of all styles and singing in general, is still with me.) I looked at the info you sent me, and have decided to purchase this unit. It would be great to bring a older piece of equipment into the 21st century in another room in my house. Thanks for your help, I will give you all (In the forum here) an update after it is connected and up and running after the tweeks etc., etc. It looks like this is just what I needed. Thanks Again!!!!!!
  12. any extra tubes....send em my way..A big Kenny fan here!!!!!!!!
  13. I have a perfectly good amp a Yamaha 2070 with dolby pro logic. In its day, I paid big $$ to have the best. I saw this on the Klipsch site... I am up late maybe my mind is not too clear because I am so tired but could I use this unit to upgrade to DTS and Dolby Digital in this amp? PROMEDIA DD-5.1 $169.99 This versatile audio surround sound system digital decoder/preamplifier is precisely crafted to bring you the most advanced surround modes including DTS, Dolby Digital & Dolby Pro Logic. This system will reproduce six discrete channels of encoded sound tracks with true fidelity and sonic excellence. The ProMedia DD-5.1 automatically detects the type of signal present at each input and decodes it based on the original encoded software. Could I now have Dolby Digital, and dts through this unit>>>?? Help me out here. Thanks.
  14. Hmm a tube... Could it be a new tube subwoofer from Bose???? I bet if we put a 3 inch Bose $1.99 speaker in there at one end.. bend it a few times... we can sell it for 100's.. hahahahahahaha
  15. OK, so it is a joke. But run with me here... Mr. Bose comes up to Mr. Klipsch at CES with his hands over his mouth cupped.. he sais, "So Paul, are you still making those horn speakers"? Then Paul turns around and faces the opposite way. "I sure am..." shouting to the sky.." HAHAHAHAHAHA Better done in person, but you get the idea. I find it amazing the one line that we all seem to agree upon that we all "hate" with a passion in the Klipsch forum is Bose. Why don't we say the Promedia 5.1 is the Bose killer too? I wonder if anyone has used this set up at home in a smaller home theatre setup too? Who knows, it might just beat Bose at their own game. Just my 2 cents. Maybe Klipsch needs to market it that way too. For the small home theatre? Any thoughts? This message has been edited by IndyKlipschFan on 01-30-2002 at 12:32 PM
  16. Some of it depends on screen size whether you have multiple heights for seating, the size of the room, etc., etc. For just a box size rectangle room if possible on say an standard 8 ft screen. ( Which is the most requested size btw for most Home installs if you read Home Theater magazine, or Audio Industrial Interiors trade journal, I think you will find a Regular 8ft with even better if possible a 10-12 ft ceiling is more than acceptable) Remember the "sweet spot" in your viewing eye level should be in the middle of the screen viewing height wise. Thats why the best Home theatres have seating "tiers" just like at the movies too. / __ -- As for a dedicated home theatre room suggestion. A pet peave of my own personal preferences, leave the equipment to a side wall. Even better, behind your seats in the back, and not on the same wall as the screen. There is nothing worse than seeing all the lights flicker to the right or left of the screen when your trying to concentrate on the movie. Leave these set ups for the family room, tv, stereo, etc., in the nice book case look. And most of all, just enjoy it too. Grab some popcorn, relax, crank it up, and get lost in the movie. It's an incredible experience with Klipsch products!!!!
  17. Well if I was early, my "intentions" were in the right place. While in college, a friend got a la scala that was not real. Nothing like spending your hard earned dollars and getting less than you thought. I can't imagine a Heresy without a tweeter.... Like getting a car without and engine. But to each his own. I guess that is also why I came in this forum for the "Experts" to set the record straight.
  18. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1326896172I looked at these without the Tweeter in the box, and noticed the drivers do not appear to be even Klipsch. The only thing that does seem to be origional is the Crossover, and who knows if that is correct, working, or Even one designed for the Heresy too. The earlier ad said, " Appearantly Klipsh made them this way..." Yeah right, without a Tweeter ... Be careful out there. What you see is not what you get. Or in this case, what you see is definitely a reason NOT to get these. This is def NOT Klipsch. But a cheap copy.
  19. Sorry this is a duplicate post, but I had to paste it here with hopes you all would read it. Especially after my comments on my earlier post. There is a lot going on at Klipsch. Give it some time, and we will see a lot of new audio "toys" come out in the next few years in my opinion. BTW, I have been alone in an Anechoic chamber just me inside. It is really earie to hear your voice with nothing reflected. You almost swear you can hear your heart beat is is sooo earie. If I had to have that much silence to live with, I think I would go mad. Thank goodness for Klipsch. ====================================================== As quoted by Bob G. " Now Klipsch has multiple sites in Hope with a brand new 46,000 sq. ft. distribution center going up near the Klipsch speaker factory which is being expanded. Corporate headquarters are located in Indianapolis where we are adding on to the 100,000 sq. ft. building we occupied just over one year ago. We are about to occupy a 27,000 sq. ft. engineering and technology center in the Indy facility. It should be one of the best around. The addition will include a duplicate anechoic chamber to the one we have in Hope. This will allow us to make comparable measurements in either location. You can take a look at the web cam on this site to see progress."
  20. Bob G.. Thanks.. We ARE keeping the faith. Just like a lot of people we are "Cautiously Optimistic" too, that somehow our love of the K Horns, Belle , La Scala and Heresy... And if you will indulge me the re introduction of a Cornwall again <<Sorry had to try..LOL>> ) Will, in fact, come true sometime in the near 2002 future. The scarey part is/was is the Parts issue IMO. What would we do if they seased to exist? (E.G. You own several thousand dollars worth of speakers and your least favorite nephew comes over turns the volume up to the max and then turns on the power... Blown anything, speaker wise, would make me cringe to think I could not replace such a loss.) For those of you who have not met Bob G, I have. Bob has been straight forward with me and I hope those of you on here that are just bashers will in fact relax, take a deep breath, and give some more time to what we all love collectively too in our Klipsch Speakers. Reguardless of what model it be. The facilities in Indy are incredible. I have personally seen them. As Klipsch moves forward through all this growth. (New construction, new engineering teams, etc., etc.) I suspect we will all see hopefully the heritage line brought back online. Maybe even a new addition to the heritage line (Hey, I can dream too. And wouldn't that really be a shock to go back to basics in a retro design? (Can you imagine Stereo Review and the public seeing a "big box" NEW engineered speaker line from Klipsch in this day of smaller BLOSE knock offs.) Fred Klipsch is a great business man in Indianapolis, IN. You can say this.. If they are, in fact, the incredible turn around story we read about in Stereo Review etc., etc. We should be excited that they are healthy and surviving in 2002. Some of the speakers that I used to admire as a kid are no longer in business or mere shadows of what they once were. Klipsch is building this new facility here in Indianapolis, Indiana to test and create new lines looking towards the future. AND They are back at the CES show.(Where in years past they didn't always go. I was there, believe me.) They are advertising a lot it seems these days, and selling a lot of Speakers too. You have to take things long term, and see through the present todays hype (good or bad) to get to the end results in the future. (I guess this is the investment guy in me coming out here, but it is true.) Wal Mart/ Sams Club, good or bad, was not built in one day. It has been a terrific investment for many many years by adapting to customer needs and wants. I suggest we let Klipsch know of our wants with our pocket books and questions...And support. But also give them time to really grow their business right and be around to support us too in the future when we need them also. Sorry so long winded. I am just very excited about the future... And the past products I already own from Klipsch. If they are anything like I already have or better. I will grow old with a smile on my face lovin them all. Roger
  21. I know it will not last long... Shoot, buy it now just erased as I clicked on it. Oh well.. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1322991671 This message has been edited by IndyKlipschFan on 01-16-2002 at 11:44 AM
  22. Ok call ME crazy, BUT>>>> Would a Crown Amp, say a D45 or a D75A, just be fantastic on a set of Cornwalls or Heresy speakers? Please feel free to give me your input based on the below use for the Crown Amps. Thanks in advance! My thoughts were to use either one of these amps for "Live, and or Recorded Music-and Vocals" to be heard over a Cornwall- Heresy set up. I know, dare say it, Karaoke. BUT, these are simply the best sounding combinations of a sound system so far I have heard. The thought is this.... Use the Cornwalls for the music..and the Heresy speakers on top of those just for the vocals. (A system using a Mackie 1604 VLZ mixing board, digital effects, karaoke machine, shure SM57 mics, etc., etc.) I figured they reproduce the best sounding live or recorded music ever while not "traditional PA speakers" yes I know. This system really is great. Were not trying to have a big JBL 1,000,000,000 watt tour flying, arena sized, rock n roll show here..LOL Just fill a 1000 sq ft + - room. I know of a former DJ in college, that used used 2 sets of La Scalas, with two Crown amps,(D75's), that were loud, clean, and he sweared by them. (He never had speaker blow outs, and never had any amp problems.) I would never even think of using this senario on the other line of Klipsch speakers more for traditional home use.(e.g. Ref series. etc etc) This question is more for the Cornwall/Heresy line only in this senario. I wanted to know if anyone had ever used Crown amps, and felt they were ultra clean, and did well with Klipsch speakers. This message has been edited by IndyKlipschFan on 01-14-2002 at 01:33 AM
  23. I just bought the Denon 3802 Before x mas. I am very, very, happy with it too.. Very clean, almost warm "tube like" too...(I had Yahmaha 2090 av/ amp before..a great amp but a little how do I describe it..shrill...or tinty sometimes...) Take that you technophobes..LOL.. Like anything else, it is personal choice.. I will say for instance on dvd's the new star wars movie, the 5th element, Jurrasic park, anything with great action it will almost knock you out of your seats with GREAT dynamic range. ( K horns used here...kv-3 center..<<looking for a RF-7>> and little kg1.5's for side fill, back, and rear speakers too. Like anything in audio..read all you can, experiment, but most importantly let your ears, when possible, tell you of course.. But keep this one on your list. I paid + - $900. for mine. My mega rich Cousin attny in FL who makes boo coo bucks,... Is just as happy with his $995.00 all in one SHARP system with his 26" TV. Don't get him wrong, he could afford just about anything he would want..It just isn't a priority for him. And he just doesn't hear it. Although he does say after coming over to my place...WOW!! THIS is better than the movies...it sounds fantastic here! If I had this in my house I would never go to the theatre.... ( I say yep..Thats why I did it. And smile.) Enjoy the hobby...have fun, and good luck!!!!!
  24. Geeze Mike,.... I wasn't mad... It's just hard when you think you have a great find... Then everyone else discovers it too...LOL.. Kinda like finding the perfect fishing spot. You want to share the story of the big catch and perfect spot AFTER you caught the big one.... not before, so someone else can. I wasn't mad, and feel free to post anything you like. Besides, you might find something I am looking for. Then, like my senario, I might be able to get the fish before someone else does too. Its a big ocean. Were all Klipsch fans, so we all win.
  25. According to what used to be on the site, was a list of matching or suggested speakers to use in a home theatre from Klipsch. The RF-7 and RS-7 to either Forte' models were recommended.
