No affiliation.... Beautiful KHorns. Would check out for a interested member, in my neck of the woods. http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/ele/4416749399.html Best regards, John -
Same tweeter and midrange, less bass output. Still a very good speaker, like a Heresey with more low end. I have owned my forte II since 92, and aside from an all horn speaker very hard to beat an extremely well balanced speaker. Hold out for the forte II INMHO.......

Forte II sold in the day for a $1,000.00 a pair. Factor in inflation, and you would be looking at a price tag today of about $3,500.00 New you would have to purchase Cornwall III at $4K a pair. My point is, at the end of the day what is an additional $100.00 or $200.00, if better condition, upgraded and local? Best of luck in your search. Best regards, John

My error, Forte & Forte II both dig down to 32HZ or less. Best regards, John

The forte II will dig down to 32HZ. I had a Velodyne sub for many years, and I left the crossover set at large and about 40HZ or less. Even then I felt it was keeping the forte II from really reaching their potential. I ended up ditching the sub and run just 2.0 for music and video. I'm thinking you will find that the favorable listening position for video will be small and for audio large. Best regards, John

All joking aside, Nelson Pass could make a toaster sound incredible. Known as Pappa in the DIY community, he is one of the few people that assist DIYers as well as his Pass LAB's amps and preamps business. Best regards, John

I still cannot understand what the OP is trying to accomplish? Best regards, John

2.0 is all I want/need for music or video INMHO....... Best regards, John

Heritage speaker "value" with replacement parts?

Roger; That is the only speaker in the Heritage lineup that I have never had the opportunity to hear. Best regards, John -
Heritage speaker "value" with replacement parts?
John Chi-town replied to jimjimbo's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
I have replaced my crossovers, midrange drivers, and tweeter diaphragms on my forte II. I never plan on parting with them, however I kept all of my original parts. So they can be returned to stock at any time. Bought new back in the day, spring of '92. Anyway never heard another speaker, Klipsch or whoever that has impressed me enough to part with my beloved forte II. Best regards, John -
Absolutely Beautiful refinish!

Perhaps you may be related to Steve McQueen as well? Isn't he from those hollers as well? Best regards, John

Dean.... Sometimes the obvious escapes the best of us.... LOL.... I'm just happy to be done chasing the audiophile "dragon". Now its time to enjoy these "new forte II' speakers for the next 20+ years, as I did for the first 20+ Best regards, John

Dean; Agreed. Initially I was unaware of the overlap as well. When I ordered the K53TI drivers a few years back I was also replacing my original xovers with new BOB C. Bob immediately informed me of the overlap and added a band pass rollover for me along with the new crossovers. I am vey happy with the results. I also agree that everyone has different tastes, thank God there is more than chocolate and vanilla...... Best regards, John

As for Klipsch not supporting DIY projects.... If Klipsch considers supporting a DIY project as simply selling someone a diaphragm kit then they should re-evaluate their business model. How many people buy 3-4 new speaker systems over a lifetime? Revenue is revenue it all goes to the bottom line. How hard is it to ask your supplier for more drivers and diaphragms? I'm sure that tthe supplier would not be disapointed in increased revenue as well.

I do not see why the tweeter is subjective, yet the midrange is not. So don't perform the upgrade on the squawker if you are not prepared to add a roll-off to the squawker. Or live with the fact that both drivers will be at full output at 7KHZ. I might not be as technical as some on this thread, but why would Klipsch be putting titanium diaphragms rather than old tried and true phenolics on the current Heritage lineup? Best regards, John
-
I have never heard anyone say that Klipsch was hording the K53TI drivers or the diaphragms themselves. I ordered a few years ago via the Klipsch toll free number, as well as many others that I know of. Why would a company not want to sell you a product??? Best regards, John

BMWM5 You should at least refresh the caps on the xovers. Bob sells new soni caps that you can install or if you send him the xovers he can recap for a small fee in addition to the parts. However at the end of the day if you decide to install titanium squawkers you will need a roll off band pass for the titanium squawkers, or new crossovers that have a mid range roll off.
