  1. Thanks Moray. After Speaking with Steve Philips who is the in house "Heritage" expert at Klipsch the following is the solution: Purchased (2) 53 TI Driver Assembly's. Everything is the same as the original in a Forte II, except that it is marked 53 TI due to the horn type it attaches to, and comes with a titanium diaphragm. It is used in Cornwall III, Heresy III, etc. If I replace the supplied titanium with a phelonic original and attach my horn to, absolutely no difference from original. Since I will never consider selling my speakers, I am fine with. In addition, I am looking forward to see how they sound attached to my midhorn with the titanium diaphragms!? Can you believe that the entire driver with titanium diaphragms were only $84.00 each, wereas a pair of diaphragms are $80.00 a pair?! Go Figure. So for $185.00 with shipping I will have 2 new driver assemblies for the mid with titanium diaphragms. I can always sell the titanium diaphragms if I do not like the combo, and get half the rebuild cost back. Downside is that I am without "sound for the next 5-7 days. Just glad there is a fix that doesn't require buying a pair of speakers and stripping for parts! I will post my thoughts on the titanium midranges that come with the new drivers once I install and burn in. John
  2. Well, I went to install them this evening. Pulled the mid horn from the speaker, removed the horn and diaphragm from the magent assembly, and the ring that is glued on to the magent that everything connects to became loose and I cannot realign due to the strength of the magnet. The ring pulls on one side up against the diaphragm housing and the diaphragm will not fit. Anyone have a spare midrange magnet assembly that I could buy for a forte II? I will be calling Klipsch in the morning to see if I can order a replacement. After speaking with BC this evening, first time he has ever heard of this happening and agrees next to impossible to realign the ring due to the strength of the magnet. Bob seems to think that the K-53, or the midrange magnet assembly for the Heresy is the same can anyone validate? Thanks! John
  3. As Bill stated, they will not integrate well together due to the different midrange horns. If you want to integrate, forte 1's would be a much better choice. I have never owned the forte, but been lovin' my forte II's since '92. I have fiends that have the 1st version, and they are awesome as well. But if I could only have one which is the case, I prefer the forte II.
  4. Cannot wait for the midrange "ear candy" to arrive!
  5. I recently replaced my networks on my forte II with BC networks, as well as the BC provided Titanium diaphragms. I did the networks first, it was as if a veil was lifted off the speakers. Bass, mids, and highs much more detailed than before. I added the replacement tweeter titanium diaphragms about 2 weeks later and was impressed again. I just ordered the replacement mid-range diaphragms from BC and will be replacing those sometime next week once I receive from Bob Crites. I will report back ater they burn in.
  6. Scour the internet you can find graphs out there as I have before. I, like Wuzzer believe that you will be very happy with the result of adding Bob Crite's Titanium replacements on the tweeter.
  7. Heresys are nice alright, but many will tell you that the forte II has a little more of everything, with much better bass. On the used market they run the same as heresys. I have owned mine since new in '92. Never a hicup, or buyer's remorse. One of the best speakers ever made by Klipsch INMYHO! You can read the reviews on this forum for spec's etc.
  8. Also, here are the specs on my Adcom Ace 615. I live in a wooded area, and we loose power at least a half dozen times per year, due to branches/wind bringing down a line. I no longer "cringe" when ComEd turns back on the juice. 9. All of which is irrelevant to the poster's ridiculous post about unstable voltages from the grid and about damage to electronics. Both are myths. All "Bow" to another know it all. OK so surges, lightning strikes, etc. cannot damage electronic equipment. If you believe that I have a bridge or two to sell you!
  10. Take a good look at a nice used pair of forte II. You can get a real nice used pair for around $450.00 I have had mine since new, now going on close to 20 years. As far as I am concerned it is the best bang for the buck that Klipsch ever produced. Best footprint/sound value. If you are not impressed you can always sell for what you paid. As we all know audio is very subjective, go listen to as many setups as you can and decide for yourself. Take a look at the forte II link on the home page and read what other forum members have to say about this classic speaker.
  11. A good quality line conditioner in my opinion is a necessity. The entire US grid is about ready to fall apart. One would be surprised how much voltage varies from time to time. In any case kind of like insurance, hate paying the premium but glad you have when needed.
  12. Looking to get back into vinyl, and know little to nothing about turntables. Any recommendations on something new or used for $300.00 or less that is of quality? Thanks in advance for suggestions!
  13. I have had my forte II since 1992, original owner; almost 20 years. I have replaced the original networks with Bob Crites new networks, as well as titanium diaphragms for the tweet's. I have never been able to find a better value from a cost/footprint perspective. As others have mentioned many pieces of equipment have come and gone over the years, but the forte II's are a truly "lifetime" speaker. You will have NO regrets!
  14. Anyone out there here the new Eric Clapton, or Santana releases? Just picked up both. Clapton is entitled simply Eric Clapton, Santana is named Guitar Heaven and is Carlo's version of past hits. Looking forward to listening to this evening, just looking for others impressions.
  15. Thanks everyone for the guidance. Yep, the jurry is in and it seems that between 85-95 degress depending on genre of music or video is the best range.
  16. Mark; 90 degress seems to be the best, and or loudest setting. Guess it makes sense since the sub is about 20+ feet in front of and directly inbetween the forte II. Thanks for the help! John
  17. I am using seperates. Please see my system profile below.
  18. Hoping someone can advise on the following. My listening position from my main speakers is about 14 feet. My sub is placed directly behind my listening position about 5-6 feet at best. Based on the difference in spacing where should I start to set the phase in order to dial in properly for the delay? Thanks! John
  19. Mark; Thanks. Seemed to come off just a little smug on his first response. Not looking to argue either. I will let it go. By the way what part of Minnesota are you from? Got a bunch of relatives in the Bemidji area. John
  20. Fair enough, again we are talking about single digits percentage of varience. Between whatever percentage of improvement on caps vs. new networks. Actual or perceived, who knows? That is what makes this hobby so interesting only so much is tangible, perception is reality.
  21. Not trying to argue here, but you seem like you feel that you know more than others, because of your thousands of posts. I answered a question from some one other than you, and told them ver batem what Bob & Mike Crites told me as to the difference of updating caps vs. new networks. Here's an idea, present your theory to Mike and Bob, and see if they agree that the difference is the "wood".
