  1. that rc-62 is worth having!
  2. keep what you have. The Rc-62 is a great center, i have never liked synergy although they are a good speaker, wait for the reference matches (rf-62, rf-82), i recently sold a pair of rf-82s for $550 that is a decent price be willing to pay a little bit more or a little bit less
  3. i thought you were going to say omg my receiver works with cable. Anyways guys i hooked up the hk 3490 today with the jamo 707i speakers. First impression with music is holy cow this 2.0 system has incredible bass. Doesnt have the pioneer elite sound that i have with my other system but i am guessing the klipsch are 40% of that equation. Very price effective, got the unit for 207.50 shipped on ebay refurbished (mid priced auction). The unit arrived in perfect condition just as everyone else said they received theirs. If this receiver leaned even a little more towards a warm sound i would recommend it as the best stereo receiver (per price) effective. I recommend it anyways.
  4. i got the vsx-45tx these receivers rock! Get the pioneer bdp-320 blu-ray player for use of analog inputs its a great combo.
  5. Think of this too, if you ended up with the system you would be full out rockin (pending receiver) from day one. I think if you managed to get it for 600 you would be very satisfied. good luck, post pictures in this thread or the home theater thread once you get them or others
  6. well first you want to think about whether the rf-15 is right for your needs. First off its a little bit of an older system, but that really isnt a problem if they are in great condition. Second they are the smaller of the klipsch line, they will no doubt sound good but do you want something bigger? For $950 you should be able to find 2 rf-82s and a rc-62 and you would have the start of a "bigger system". I really dont know enought about the rf-15 system to give you an exact number i would offer but i would probably not pay $950, if he cant work with you at all look for something else. Hope i helped
  7. I am going to be using the 3490 with a pair of jamo 707i speakers which are 200 wpc rms at 4 ohms. Hopefully i get some good results. Your receiver has mutlti channel inputs, really it would still be a very very capable home theater receiver for a secondary system. Or even in a primary if need be. I am using a 8 year old pioneer elite receiver right now and the thing seems like it will last another 12 years. What denon did you get by the way?
  8. make sure your speakers are all set to small.
  9. just bought a refurbished hk 3490 stereo receiver, it arrives tomorrow. Hopefully the fact that it does not have hdmi or video processing will help it to last for many years. It does however have optical and digital coaxal DACs. You could still use the receiver just without hdmi right?
  10. I switched from a onkyo then to a older high end sony unit and finally to a pioneer elite. The pioneer was the only one without a hiss in speakers. Well maybe there is a small one but it is only audible from 1 foot away. I think you will be super happy with a pioneer elite
  11. I truely have not heard alot of receivers but i do think that pioneer elites are the best sounding receivers you can buy. I have an older one and the sound is amazing that i get with my reference speakers. Really you have to look at your budget, your needs and also the point of diminishing returns. To me it is a toss up but i would definantly look and see if i could find the elite receiver that would be perfect for me. Looking for something local (or that you could drive to) used, top of the line and two years old you could get an extremely power pioneer elite receiver for not a crazy amount of money. I think that the pioneers provide a certain warmer sound that will put a smile to your face. If you need rediculous power go with seperates. I might be getting a new (to me) receiver within the week so i can give you a better comparison then
  12. ha you post some great pictures! Looks like expensive equipment with little practicality
  13. I am really in the market for a new stand and i dont know if i want to buy one or build my own. Practical reasons for wanting to build my own are that i could angle the center speaker shelf slightly and also i really want to bring my tv down as low as possible but i still have to give my taller receiver room to breath. I would love some more pics of stands people have bought or made. I have a rc-62 right now but either way i plan to have a stand that accomodates a 64. Right now i just have the speaker on a small table in front of the tv.
  14. What center speaker do you have? What tv do you have? I would not recommend it but i have seen people doing that before without a problem. An led would be fine ontop of one
  15. i enjoyed avatar less at home. In imax 3d the CGI was unnoticeable and blended well. At home by the end of the movie i was ready for a movie with more real elements. Visually stunning and some great sound but nothing i would want to continually watch. IMHO District 9 was alot better (maybe not a equal comparison) even for some action elements. I recommend Avatar 3d just so you guys can see what your theater cand do!
  16. I like to look around best buy every few months, they are great to have around. I am glad there are alot of consumers out there majorly overpaying for stuff (accessories) so i can compare various products. Went in there today to see if they discounted any klipsch speakers, unfortunately they didnt as far as i could see but there was an ISF calibrater in their, it was interesting to see him at work.
  17. Went to BB today and asked two people neither knew anything. YMMV. I wouldnt mind a pair of wf-35s with a matching center. Nice looking speakers
  18. I believe the horn tweeters has a lot to do with difference in preferences between klipsch and other speakers.
  19. i think you can buy stain in like the home paint containers with the metal lids and they say stain on them. You would most likely use a brush to put on a coat or a few. Probably want something to emulate sawhorses to set it on while it drys.
  20. I just went through your HT build thread again. What a fun process it has been. With rf-83s i think the parasound was a no brainer!
  21. what amp did you get youth? Edit: never mind i thought this was the DIY audiorack thread. Post pics when you are done Youth and give us impressions of the amp. Did you get it locally or have it shipped from someone? By the way your main wall there looks really nice close up. Where did you purchase your rc-64 from?
  22. sorry i forgot to answer that one, no you should not run more than one center speaker. The c-3 is recommended with the f-3s so i think you will hear a difference.
  23. Sell the c-2 and get the c-3! Yeah i would not start mixing with reference unless you plan to fully convert over to reference
  24. The rs-62s are being obtained by a family member on saturday. So these are going to be okay with my rf-82s?!?!?! No one has really commented yet. They are really quite a bit more than i wanted or needed but they are what i found.
  25. The sony does handle a 4 ohm load. Okay yes i have figured out that i am going to want a newer stereo receiver over an amp. They are buying me at under half of what the stuff is worth, if i didnt get anything for them then the rs-62s wouldnt even have entered my mind. They are buying my audio rack so boxes arent a problem. By the way are they timbre enough for my rf-82s!?!?!
