  1. That is a really cool picture, i think those goggles put their band in a whole different realm. Have you ever heard the band Habib Koite? I think you would really like them
  2. 16 guage should be fine for your system. Your 12 guage wouldnt hurt. I would stick clear of 20 guage. www.monoprice.com is your friend.
  3. Here is a pic incase you really are interested. Manufacturers date of October 2008 So its fairly new
  4. I have actually heard people do notice a big difference, i bet you would! You could sell the player you have right now for $70 and get this one and be setup for $28 with lossless. Just a thought, i mean if you are going to have that receiver for 2 or more years you should go to lossless. Not trying to push you into...just seems crazy not to do it when it would not cost you much.
  5. Also if you are looking for a blu-ray player with analog out i am putting mine on ebay tomorrow. It is in perfect shape with the remote. bd-p2500. Bought it and realized i dont want to get another tv until next winter. I will let you have it for $90 shipped. For another $8 bucks i will throw in the 4 premium double rcas for connecting it which i just bought at monoprice and are new in the package http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021803&p_id=2869&seq=1&format=2
  6. I also know that these receivers often have a problem where the volume know jumps ahead drastically even in the other direction than where you were adjusting. Not a big deal since the remote works best for this. Let me know what your manufacturers date is too, mine was august of 2002. I love just looking at mine, best looking receivers ever! Also i dont know if you have yet but i would suggest ordering 50ft of 12 guage guage wire and some banana plugs if your speakers allow. I still would like a little more power with these receivers but am still blown away by the sound production and they do pack a good punch.
  7. I would like to get a amp once i can find the right one.
  8. That is a smart move. Just craiglooked it. Looks great, seems like it was taken care of (no dents or scratches) seems pretty dusty in the space there but that is oaky. I wonder what the difference is between the 45 and the 43. The only one i can see is the remote is not the same. When you pick it up plug it in and make sure it does not have a unusually loud hum coming from the power supply (mine has a very very faint one which is normal) a loud one could signify a dying one. Post pics when you get it. Did you talk them down $20 from their already fair price?[]
  9. get the cheaper one and then get a seperate amp for your front 3 (or 2 rf-83s) speakers as that 1019 is not enough in my opinion
  10. mhmm i woud have kept the rf-25s and started another 2.1 []. Wouldnt mind starting a cherry setup if the right deal came along
  11. from my interpretations he meant the fortes look cheesy. No they do not look like new reference speakers but yes they do still look good.
  12. HAHA great pic, i was joking though i dont think tracings of autographs are ...cool I missed the episode where chumlee sells $3000 in a week. I did see an episode where rick said the employees make like 40k a year. Really sweet hat though nice grab!
  13. Now you are talking! Such beautiful speakers. Where are you buying them from?
  14. I have rf-82s and 2 subs i think the bass department is covered. Wait i dont have an external amp maybe it is not...[6] Yeah i have heard great things about yamaha and since you have preouts you are covered for those future upgrades. Also the sub12 provides great bass, post pics when it comes togethor Get ya some RF-83's and you'll have Plenty O' Bass
  15. I watched like 5 epidodes of that during christmas and then in the last few days there were like 10 episodes on demand. I love the show! Chumlee is indeed the best actor and most talented. I agree that most of the show is set up but just because of the basis of the show it makes it okay. Can you send me a tracing of chumlees autograph? []
  16. You will probably notice a fuller sound but dont expect bass from the reference, that is what subs are for. I just replaced my 16 guage cable with 12 guage monoprice speaker wire and i notticed a difference, just thought i would pass that on.
  17. Yes msrp $1400 in early 2003 but i believe people were buying them for over $800 new. I love it alot. The problem i have run into is that i just bought some awesome awesome jamo speakers from 1997 that are 4 ohm so i do not want to run them through the receiver. Right now i use the receiver as a 2.2 system with my rf-82s and velodyne subs and music sounds great.
  18. Okay well i decided to go a different route from LPs. Picked up this cd player today for $25 on craigslist. It looks great in the pic huh? Well it is not perfect by any means in person, i would give it around around (light scratches) 7.5/10. I have no cds and really prefur quality mp3s. My plan is to pick up some jazz and classical cds at garage sales and goodwill but there is no way i can fill the 301 slots the cd player has. Didnt come with a remote but as you can see the receiver i have next to it (picked up for $165 is 10/10 condition) is a pioneer and the remote works fully functioning for it. I have it hooked up via optical input and it was manufactured in 1998. What do you guys think? Please post deals you have gotten from craigslist guys!
  19. I would set the sub level at the mid-way (most likey at 0 so no + or -) on the receiver And control the level on the sub itself. This may give you a better idea of how hard you are pushing your sub.
  20. I would definantly go the amp route. Although the 35s would make perfect SBs. Having the 83's and the 64 a beast of an amp could make all the difference in the world. I have been itchen to maybe check out a emotiva product eventually. Right now i got like 3 items i need to sell before i start looking.
  21. ugh i am so unmotivated to go get them, he is a 45 minute drive away. He has a number to call but i just sent him an email. Part of the problem is i just spend $500 on other audio equip a few days ago. Right now i listen to a mp3 plugged into my receiver, would i notice a difference if i got a decent CD player and started using cds? I know how people feel about LPs so i guess you dont have to go into that...
  22. Saw this thread and ran out to 2 close thrift stores, found 1 book. Anyways i have been pondering getting a turntable. I see someone on my craigslist is selling nearly 400 LPs for $50, they are mostly 70 and 80s rock, should i jump on them?
  23. jamo 707i . Anyone have any experience with jamo? I heard they use to make some crap speakers in early 90's these are from 96' msrp around $1699. Edit: LOL just realized that JAMO is owned by Klipsch. So i guess they are klipsch speakers.[H]. Well should have started my own thread....
