  1. Cool, that was a lot of money back in '57, I guess about seven or eight thousand in today's money, maybe more. Don't forget you could buy a Ford or Chevrolet for under two grand back than.
  2. Dean, Just wondering what kind of white caps you are trying, just wondering if they are Sonicaps? I have six of them that are waiting to go into my Heresy II crossovers. I've been waiting on some solens to come in so I can change all my caps at one time.
  3. I think it is basicly in the iron, the Paraglow uses Magnequest iron, which I have heard is hand wound and suppose to be some of the best iron made today. The Paramour is a cheaper (in price) amp kit with cheaper mass produced iron which makes the kit a cheaper kit to sell, but dosen't sound as sweet as the Paraglow, you probably would get better ansewers from people that have built both of the kits at the Bottlehead forum or at the product page at Bottlehead.com. It is like almost anything you buy, the more you spend the better the product will be.
  4. Codhead, Do you live on Cape Cod Ma. or do you just like fish.
  5. I think they are to high for used, I know the retail price is about $1200., but I bought a new pair in 2000 for $700., maybe I was just lucky.
  6. I have not heard them myself, but I have read on other forums that they sound great for the price. It sounds like Craig has a winner there.
  7. OK! they are a lot bigger, I have only seen pictures on line and really could not tell. I do have a small home and a small living room, so I will stick with my HeresyII pair. I would love to have the top Klipsch (K-horn) but I don't Know if I could get them in my house and I do love my Heresy II's.
  8. I have never heard or seen a pair of Cornwalls, are they a lot bigger in size than the Heresy II's ? I was just wondering because I always hear about how great the CW's are, and wonder why if they are so good, why they don't make them any more, but they still make the Heresy II which a lot of people think the the CW's are better than.
  9. Crazytubepower, You can stop repeating yourself we heard you the first time.
  10. I can't remember, did it have something to do with records?
  11. You must be over 50 like me, I'am 54 (todays my birthday) and I will be working outside on something and come into the house to get something and forget what I came in the house for, go back outside and than I remember, and try to hold on to the thought so I can go back into the house and get it.
  12. I have heard the same thing from other people, I just thought I would try.
  13. DizRotus, I guess I read it wrong, sorry,I saw where the kit cost $10 and didn't see the other items you have to buy, would you say $20 total cost? I also was wondering what kind of record cleaners you have used in the past that this system is better than. This whole thing looks very interesting.
  14. Boy that looks interesting , and you say it works too. I bought a spin clean washing system a while back , but I havn't tried it yet, I think it cost around $50. The trouble I have with the good record cleaners is the price. I mean I have about 250 records and it's hard to think about spending a few hundred dollars or more for what they say is a good record cleaner for maybe 50 dirty records. I like the price of your record cleaner also, under $10, I mean even if I didn't like it, I'am only out $10.
  15. Dean, I wanted to E-mail you a question about crossovers, and yesterday your E-mail address was on your signature line, now it is gone, can I have it please.
  16. Dean, Also I have a 68uf cap in my Heresy II's crossover do I need to upgrade that also, if so what cap would you recommend, from it's location in the schematic it dosn't look real important, but I could be wrong.
  17. I had about the same question about two weeks ago with my Heresy II's and I ended up buying some Sonicaps from Soniccraft.com, I havn't tried them yet, but I plan on putting them in on a rainy day, (I have been working outside with the days being so pretty). I'am sure the Kimber caps Dean recommended are great also, Dean is one of the crossover gurus around here, and from what I have read has built many of them. Sonicraft where I bought my caps also had a nice price on 1 lb. Cardas Q-E Solder for $38.
  18. Bill, Good to hear you got your cart. installed and you are happy with it, always good to get something that people that have your table and arm recommend. It would be a bummer to spend that kind of money on a cart. and find out it didn't match your set up and you didn't like the way it sounded and had to live with it, or spend more money to find the cart. you like. I myself can only afford one new cart. every few years and can't afford to experiment.
  19. Damn ! I lived right near there for twenty five years (East Texas) right now I live on Cape Cod MA. and by the time I move back to Texas this fall they will be gone, and I like the price, just my luck.
  20. I don't know much aboout the internet, I just know I can find a whole lot of stuff on it, a wealth of information. Is the equipment that someone uses to put a site on the internet called a "server"( I see them talk about servers on a IBM TV commnercial). Is their server broken?
  21. Been trying to get on the Audio asylum all afternoon seems they are off line. This happened yesterday and than last night they were back on. The other day they were on line, but you could not post anything for about a day and a half.
  22. Bill Smart move, I know that the Dynavector is a great match for the Rega arms but don't know is it is a great match for yours and the people that have a arm like yours would know what sounds best with it. Also having the dealer set up the arm with the cart. is probably better also, seeing he probably does it all the time he will get it right on the mark. Have fun and good luck !
