  1. boa I connected the six rca jacks from the DVD player to the amp(both have direct in and out for 6 channel play). Then set the amp to 6 channel direct mode. I then went into DVD audio setup and changed the settings to 6 channel analog. Is this everything, or did I miss something.
  2. thank's guys.......she's only 5 and excel's in dance. She is really advanced in ballet for her age. I went to the library today and I noticed a consumer report's magazine. Just so happens that in this issue they were comparing rear projection TV's. Out of 15 tv's on the list my Mistu only rated at 11. I could'nt beleive it, they rated Hitachi and Toshiba as one and two over all. Oh well, I have to look at the bright side. You can't put a 40 pound speaker on either of those as well as you can the Mistubishi. This message has been edited by montigue on 03-06-2002 at 03:46 AM
  3. I put my super junior behind the right side main in the corner. I tried all other positions but that was the best one. It made you fell the mains were putting out the bass.
  4. GGRR!! sorry for the duplicate picture. This is the one I meant to post the second time. hehe, i'm so pathetic at times
  5. I just cannot find a good digital camera for the money. Sorry for the terrible pictures guys. Here are some more pics of the rear speakers and an attempt to capture the whole setup. the cabinet i built myself with real oak wood. The rear speakers were my latest purchase. Having full size rear speakers really makes a big difference. Thanks for looking...would appreciate any comments. Monty This message has been edited by montigue on 03-04-2002 at 01:44 PM

  7. I finally decided to buy a DVD audio CD since I recently upgraded my DVD player to DVD audio/ Pro scan. Today I went down and bought the eagles on a DVD audio disc from best buys. I like the fact that now I can take advantage of my new full range rear speakers (Klipsch 4.2's) with the 5 channel output you get from a DVD adio disc. I was thinking, Is'nt DVD audio just about the same thing as 5 channel stereo? My receiver only has 3 channel stereo mode so I havent heard 5 channel stereo mode yet. But I bet its almost the same thing. Has anybody compared them?
  8. Chuckears, like ive been saying for a long time now. If you want a quality amp in a A/V receiver for the money. H/K is the right choice. And they sound very nice with Klipsch.
  9. I found a small sample of Pomp & Pipes. Just open your realplayer and paste this in location while logged on to the internet: http://mfile.akamai.com/3196/rm/muze.download.akamai.com/2890/us/us_rm/05 00/54395_1_01.ram?obj=v10616 Most of my music is 80's stuff but from time to time I like to hear some good classical music. I just might buy this one since it comes highly recommended. This message has been edited by montigue on 03-04-2002 at 02:26 AM
  10. $500 spent on speaker wire is insane...$300 spent on speaker wire is insane....Even $200 spent on SPEAKER WIRE IS INSANE! Now if you owned a pair of $8000 speakers then I guess I can understand spending some money on wire for peace of mind. But seriously, if you get to the point in this hobby where you are actually spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars on speaker wire. You should really think to yourself. "Am I going insane"? or "do I need to get a life"? Take control of your hobby, don't let it take control of you.
  11. a caddy? for a receiver? lol I thought my deals were a bit weird Was it a coupe de ville? My grandparents owned one and it was like riding in a luxourious tank. now you just need some big pink fuzzy dice to hang on the rear veiw mirror and youll be rollin! 12. it's not only the fact that it moves alot( and it does move because of its size vs output) the 2700 watt amplifier in such a small design. seems just too compact to me. I had the super junior and loved the sound but it does get a little hot when used alot. I know that their are lots of adiophiles that really like this sub. Its true high end quality but Will a sub like this last you 5 years of solid use?
  13. 3"'s is a lot of movement for a driver thats only 8". I like the sound and the feel of sunfire. It really can create some majore output. Although with the load put on these little drivers I don't know how long you could expect one to last with even normal use. I have heard lot's of owner's having to take advantage of their warranties due to bad driver's. It's nice to have a sub that's only 8" and can give you major output but I would rather have a 12" driver that can give you more output and have a life expectancy of twice or three times as long. Even if you have to vacum the darn thing every week because the carpet get's dusty
  14. Seb, if you only new what that $2000 could have gotten you. If you have patience and are good at negotiating. You would be suprised on what you can accomplish. I laugh at people who spend 1000's upon 1000's of dollars at retail stores. Stay tuned i'm getting my new digital camera in the mail in a few day's. I'll show you what $2000 got me. Monty
  15. this is the guy that emailed me a few days ago asking me to look at this auction. He seen that I had a bid on another Klipsch center. So I guess if he has to advertise that way, maybe hes desperate to get rid of it. lookin fishy to me....
  16. thats right mike. I finally finished putting together my home theater setup. It took me over 3 years to find what I was looking for whether it was in the local paper or ebay. If you wait eventually you will find it. I bought my H/K receiver from my local paper. The guy wanted $700 for it. It retailed for $1200. I paid $280 after the add expired and I guess he got desperate. hehehehe Another thing is no matter how crazy the deal might sound to your advantage it cant hurt to ask. You just never know what people might do to get rid of something after they have no interest in it anymore. I only paid $250 for my KG 5.2's in mint condition off ebay. I guess the high bidder backed out at $500 I told the seller to keep me in mind just incase the deal fell threw...hehehe...be patient you will always come out on top!! 17. can you have the same problem if you have satelitte tv? I noticed that they used my outside water piping for ground.
  18. I agree, seperate components are always the best way to go for performance. but cost is another issue. A good seperate amp pre amp could run you into the $1000's. This message has been edited by montigue on 02-24-2002 at 10:49 PM
  19. think of high current in this way: a river running in wattage and current to power a turbine. The wattage will determine how fast the river runs while the currnet determins how deep the river is. Yes you need both to make it work although if the river is deeper it can carry more water thus generating more energy to turn the turbine . (I hope that explanation made sence). Its nice to have both. If H/K receivers could put more wattage in their amps. They would be the king of a/v receivers. But then you would spend more yes much more than $800. Another thing to consider, an amp that runs in high current will sound better at high volumes. On the flip side, an amp with low current but high wattage will distort much faster at higher volumes. This is really were a high current amp workes well. I can turn my H/K AVR65 3/4's of the way to maximum output and have abseloutly no distortion. The Denon's and Yamahas will give you more extras for your money and still sound good. The H/K will give you a better amp and sound better.
  20. I'm having the same problem with my dvd. I can hear a buzz in all my speakers. Sure would like to know whats up with that. I'm also getting a buzz in my SVS when I turn the samson amp db contoller nob past 3/4's of the way up.
  21. yes Ray your right. the positioning is everything on a sub. I can walk around my living room and get deeper bass in one corner, boomy in another and tighter in a different location. i found that flanking the sub with the mains in a corner is the best. But T, you will also notice a difference with a better amp. Like the Samson series. (tighter more accurate)
  22. I remember a few years ago when my daughter was only 2. I noticed my cd's were coming up missing one after another. I looked everywhere but couldnt find them. Then about a year later I decided to upgrade a drive on my computer. When I opened it up I found about 25 cd's inside the computer She was trying to play them on the computer but just couldnt find the right place to put them....hehehehe Darn wippersnappers!!!
  23. hello JohnL and welcome, It's nice to see another local member on the forum. Good luck on your search for the KLF's. BTW how cheap is this guy selling you a single 20.
  24. just kidding........good luck
  25. tell you what...send me $20 via my paypal acccount and I will exclude myself from bidding on this speaker. I was thinking about going as much as 6 bills. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ monty AKA (klipschster) This message has been edited by montigue on 02-20-2002 at 03:47 PM
