  1. Does the UMC-1 Process DVD-audio via HDMI? I know Emotiva does not do DSD processing. But I am assuming it will do PCM or I can use the analog.
  2. Someone should buy these. I would be interested in the parts shipped, but someone local should grab them and give them a listen.
  3. I know that the mid-horns should be ear level. As I have "recently" moved, and am in the process of getting married, the room is not yet "furnished". The rear center will be a quartet. I need to replace the mid-range diaphragm. The cabinets will be height adjusted in the future when final furniture is selected to get the right height. The quartets that will be moved there are in a two-channel system currently. I will wait to move them until the room is complete I think. So just use KG2s as the surrounds until then.
  4. I have concluded that the Academy I sold worked well with my Chorus IIs. It worked better in between the Quartets. Now I have a Forte II in between the Chorus IIs. I eventually would like a Chorus II but the cheap deal came for the Forte II (Forte II and Quartet for $200). Now I am rotating speakers around, and I believe the main system will be: RL: Chorus II C: Forte II 3 Surrounds of Quartets. All in the pretty medium oiled oak color. I will put up pictures when the entertainment stand is complete.

  6. I know there are numerous speakers that people say are the professional version of the Heresy. Can we get a list? And maybe description? Heresy HIP Klipsch KP 201 (heresy 2 professional?) KP250 ? KP-301 II (Heresy on Steroids?)

  9. I have never auditioned the KLF-C7 but some swear by it. I think Colter uses it between two La Scalas because it is more efficient and keeps up better. I don't think you could go wrong with it. The KV4 is probably more rare, but I know some like it. Just another idea.
  10. I had the midrange in my Chorus II go out. Bob was out, and Klipsch did not have the titanium replacements (from the Cornwall IIIs I think). As I had a quartet that was not in use at the time, I stole that driver. I did not ask if klipsch had the replacement available for my the Chorus II. Klipsch may have the replacement available for you.
  11. My Father has a dedicated 20 amp service run to the outlet for the home theater. That outlet has two Furman's plugged in, one that has the amplifiers and gets turned on and off, and one that stays on all the time for the source components. He has never tripped the circuit. That is with 3 Carver M1.5ts, 1 Carver 753 and one Carver 760x. That is only 3610 watts into 8 ohms continuous. So the added dedicated 20amp service has served him well. I do not know if a basic 15amp would not be able to handle it. I do know its nice to have a dedicated circuit for the home theater components and to have the lights and everything else on a separate circuit.
  12. I can do my Linear Algebra and Differential Equations. Thanks for the suggestions so far. Crossover and design implementation are important and that's why I want to learn.
  13. I am someone who knows what I don't know. I don't know the basics of speaker building. Crossovers are the first thing that gets me. I have seen the different networks and stuff. As only a civil engineer, my knowledge of basics circuits is even lacking (we skipped circuits and barely covered in physics). I know basics, but I want to learn more. In particular, I want a book about building speakers, subwoofers and crossovers. I need to understand what I need. People talk about flat response to 40 HZ. What are we using to test this other than an SPL meter? (I have never used one) I want to get the basics for what I need to learn how to measure. I read and comprehend rather quickly. But for someone who wants to enjoy music, I feel I would like to tinker more and know I need more knowledge for that. I just thought this would be a good spot to ask for recommendation on resources that I can read up on. Thanks to all for the help.
  14. I think the Cornwall vs Forte/Chorus question will lead to multiple opinions. The Cornwall II was discontinued while the Chorus II was in production so I see it as a direct replacement. I prefer the Tratix Horns and would Rate the Chorus II ahead of the Cornwall. For the Money, the Quartet is hard to beat, but the Chorus II or Forte II I ould prefer just due to the midrange horn. If you have the room, I would prefer the Cornwall to the Forte. So my personal opinion: Chorus II Cornwall Chorus I Forte II Quartet Forte I Again Just one man's opinion. And do not count out the KLF 20 and 30 or the CF 3 and 4. I have not heard them but I have heard fro m their fans. I need to make sure to listen to them so I can put them in my rankings.
  15. I also go to a Regal. It has Klipsch Speakers. I did not see the badges on the grills or any ads. I did hear great sound though. I really noticed after I went to another theater. It sounded better at the Coldwater Crossing. I thought that just maybe they were klipsch, used the website to look it up and it was. I was pleasantly surprised. They should brand it a little more. I have told that theater I am a repeat customer due to the sound.
  16. My two favorite* speakers. The quartets are the most versatile and have a great sound. Small enough to be put almost anywhere. The Chorus II are larger (larger sound), but much more work to move. Depending on the situation, maybe you sell the chorus IIs because you can get more from them. The "*" is due to not hearing everything. I with-hold my absolute final judgement because I have not heard the CF-3, CF-4, KLF-20, KLF-30. I could fall in love with their sounds I am sure.
  17. Congrats on the Heresys. They may just need to be recapped as the crossovers are older.
  18. Willing to negotiate or trade. More pictures forthcoming.
  19. I have a black KV3 is in great condition. I can part with it here on the forum for $100. I can ship for cost if I have to. Otherwise it is Chicago and Fort Wayne and in between, I will post pictures later.
