  1. We'll see, fingers crossed i have to baby sit it until his wife says it's okay.
  2. you weren't joking with the size of the box. The Sub is shipped from right over the bridge in New Jersey , 1 day wait means there's some boom boom in my living room. At least for a little while until my brothers finds out his sub is here already.

  6. I've enjoyed the 3 MA 500's that i have for front use on my Heresy's. I mainly use them in support of my Onkyo to reduce the stress of my set up but have used them during social gatherings without hiccup. They're pretty musical i would say. I've only experienced a hum one time which was from a bad source. I also have the same complaint regarding the trigger system.
  7. Evo makes a good point, I would make a decision on brand then wait for the best deal to show itself. That is of course if time isn't a major concern.
  8. H/K i'd go with, since i picked up my H/K730 i don't think anything matches better with Klipsch especially at that price range.
  9. They're a good bang for the buck.. they need a little umph to break in but you wont be disappointed. Atleast for my setup they work just fine.
  10. I would say bridge them for the fronts and up the DB's on the center and you should be rocking. You'll notice a drastically fuller sound than you had with just the onkyo. At least i noticed it with my mono's across the fronts (3 Heresy's). The blocks actually bring a welcomed stage to not only music but HT, so either way you really can't go wrong. With the onkyo preouts and it's internal settings you should be very happy with your purchase. However i will say that it might get a bit tricky with all the triggers running to the mono's from the onkyo.. do you have a clean power block or something along those lines? To me it wasn't a must have but when you come across one at an estate sale for 20 bucks you buy it. It has come in handly with my amping. With the extra space i think you will more than likely want to initially set it up bridged and then if too much (it could never be too much [Y]) it would be easier to remove then add. If your fear is that the center will be swallowed don't worry about it, the onkyo will surprise you when you let it breathe. Let me know if that's helpful!!!
  11. I was referencing that "mint one" i wanted to get it but i was too late as well. The UAW's work well with movies, as my girlfriend will say "they really let the crickets out". I've noticed on craigslist a bit of a trend on Parasound Amps.. they're something to keep in mind. Good luck on your search!
  12. There's an XPA-3 for sale on the forum. ................ Break in was about 50-75 hours. Now The efficiency of the UAW's isn't exactly the same as say Heresy's but they match fine with a little tweaking. The UAW's are the worth the price point and as long as you're taking off the stress of the fronts you should be fine. I also assume the more power you have to them the shorter the break in.... Hope that helps
  13. I'm currently using the UAW 8.2's as surrounds which were powered by my Onkyo Tx NR808. They have a pretty long break in period just an FYI. So back on topic the Onkyo powered them just fine while on the 6ohm setting. I will add that my system was a bit underwhelming while the receiver alone powered my fronts and rears. I've since added 3 MA500's on the pre-outs for my fronts which relieves the Onkyo's stress and allows the UAW's to Rock! I hope that makes sense. I have no experience with the UAC's. Best Regards, Peter
  14. Lucky enough for me i worked through the night and wont be able to make the trip for the La scala's today which gives me a little more time to make my decision. If anyone wanted to jump on the set and are closer to the seller making it a no brainer for youm please send me a PM or E-mail. I told the seller that I would spread the word if I couldn't pull the trigger for whatever reason. They're located in (Sayre, PA) and are available today through the weekend. Very motivated seller, he said AA networks and all Original Drivers are fully functional.
  15. I listen to alot of music with some HT here and there due to not having much sitting time. The music listening is mainly when i'm doing house work, Oh yes the Single dad is a jack of all trades. Getting back on track, i don't have a Sub and quite frankly am afraid to purchase one because i know if i do i will go BIG. The 7's kinda sorta take care of that Low doesn't it? plus the La scala wouldn't get their full potential unless they're on tubes? Blah!
  16. Good afternoon all, Let me say that you guys are awesome with the advice the personable conversation and in some cases comic relief while i'm here at work. My question is: What's more worth my while? I see a pair of RF-7's for 725 in the garage section as i think i can secure them being that i'm only 10min away but i also stumbled across a pair of La Scala's for 450. I know to most it's a no brainer, to me it's go for the La scala's right away but they're a bit rough, no tags front or back (serials) and are a 3 hour drive away plus painted black. The gentleman is very curteous by willing to hold them for a listen but very egar to sell. The RF-7's i think might be a little more accepted as they have a smaller yet taller footprint. I will attach the La Scala's for a better estimate of what i'm dealing with. Any advice on the situation would be fantastic.
  17. They're all Good choices but i applaud you for taking us all in and lettng our experiences help you. I'm sure you will be happy with your choice but now i need a review of the new gear!
  18. Hey cliff, i Updated the Firmware Via USB which did work like a charm. I tried to update Via Ethernet a few times before and it was rather sluggish. Yet the "networking" capability works like a charm to stream audio. My home is hard wired networked which was a 3 week issue intself.. you try running cables in a house built in 1893 with plaster walls. I like my Onkyo so far but wouldn't count the HK out
  19. Annnnnnnd i'm back, firmware updated about 2 hours ago. So far so good, i've pushed it a bit with switching sources etc, i should have updated awhile ago. Cliff my friend if the sound issue doesn't return in the next 24 hours i'd say you're golden. The AV has enough juice to power just about anything, OH i will say that it struggled a bit to push a pair of Rectlinear Highboy III's, which was given to me from my 85 year old neighbor. I will however get into them this weekend and see if they need major updating which could be the culprit.
  20. Good early evening,I've used the Onkyo NR808 since Late November and I will say that the set up is relatively easy. I’m no expert but I will say that it’s upscale of SD makes watching children’s shows almost bearableJ. Good thing she loves music more! So back on track, It took me about an hour or so of set up, it’s pretty wife friendly as the remote is easier to use than most. One flaw that I’ve noticed is that if you’re running it through a “monster clean power” it can sometimes lose audio(I will be updating firmware today and will try to re-create issue). Maybe it’s the monster set up I’m not sure but it’s happened a handful of times. Then again maybe the child is playing with the filters. Enough of the babble I’m trying to help. The Audyssey MultEQ is a breeze for set up and worth using. You’ll have fun tweaking the system for the remainder of your days! How ever if you’re using it for the 3D ready I’d look elsewhere. Direct connection of your 3D BD player would be best. For the money it’s the best bang for your buck! Good luck, if you have any questions please feel free!
  21. I haven't seen that add, i think i'll atleast give the person a call to see if i can take a look at it. It's a little Odd to emphasize "as is" numerous times in the post. I'll let you guys know status, i appreciate the help. If he doesn't agree to audition i'm not wasting my time, that's how i had my Heresy set back.
  22. I contemplated going that route. It would be a greater reduction in price oppose to purchasing a new set and having to some how camoflauge them into the living area without it being too obvious to the GF. Which i know sounds impossible but with my daughter being 2 and wanting daddy to play music all the time it shouldn't be too tough. Now the deterent of building my own sub would more than likely start from a normal 15" sized build that will eventually lead me to building bigger and bigger! I ask, would you think that In walls for surrounds and 3 Heresy's for for with a Custom Sub suit one's needs? I love the idea of building and finishing some true functioning furniture.
  23. Hi guys, i've been jonesing for a cornwall or something that will fill my new house with some amazing sound for years to come. Being a novice to the Heritage line I purchased a set of worn out Heresy I's without full knowledge of what to look for... Now after much time spent reading these forums and time inside of the Heresy's i've rewired, replaced one woofer and developed a want for more bass. I'm working with a Onkyo TX-NR808 which works well for the time being. Onto the real agenda of this post. I'm looking for a set in the Heritage line for anywhere between 500-800. I figure that's a decent range to work with to ween my way into the downward spiral towards classic audio [Y]. I came across a CL add for a pair of "Cornwall I's" for 595.. which i'm sure i can negotiate down to 500 due to them being in Maryland and I'm in nyc i don't mind the travel but if i could get your opinions if they appear (Link above) to be worth the travel and money. I appreciate your time greatly, Peter
