  1. And my picture posting fiasco continues on this forum.. There were numerous speaker brands such as Monitor Audio (probably my second favorite sound, just behind Klipsch), Energy and Martin Logan that I didn't mention along the journey, just didn't want to write a dissertation. Thanks for the warm welcome guys, feels good to be back.
  2. They are not Youthman Quality but here are some pics:
  3. Hello everyone, I figured I would make a new thread about my search for audio bliss. I have owned numerous 5.1 systems over the last 10 years but it all began with my RF-3 Klipsch system, once I heard that Klipsch sound, I was addicted. I later moved onto RF-63's, this is the set that I wish I would have kept. I still keep my eyes peeled for a pristine cherry set on CL but they never show up. Once I sold the 63's, I decided to try out Definitive Technology. I bought BP-8's a CLR2002 and two Studio monitor 450's for the surrounds. This set was powered by a Onkyo 818. They sounded great but didn't have the sound I have been longing for. I just recently sold that complete set and I have been surround soundless ever since. I have been working very long hours so I decided to take a trip to Fry's and see if they had any sales going. Just as luck would have it, they did. I ended up buying RF-62's, RC-62 and RB-61's (didn't have in stock). I am totally pumped and happy to be back to get her with Klipsch again. I am now shopping for a receiver. I have owned a pioneer SC-25, HK AVR-635, HK 3700 and the Onkyo 818. I have also owned Emotive XPA-3 and XPA-5, I love the build quality and price of Emotiva gear. I am now considering their Fusion 8100. Any of you guys have any input on this model. The other receiver that I has sparked my interest is the Denon X4000. Now that I have new speakers, it's time to dig out the big Rythmik subwoofer. Should be a pretty sweet setup. Any way, sorry for the long-winded post, I am just very excited to be back.
  4. That is a sweet room. Congrats!
  5. I actually used my new Earthquake Supernova-12 for the movie. It performed flawlessly and put out some of the tightest bass I have ever heard. I wanted to try near field and this little sub sits about one foot behind the center listening position. What a experience! Great movie, great audio and enjoyed the 3D a lot more than I was expecting. I will try the Jerusalem scene with the SVS once I get the new receiver fully integrated. I would much rather have tried that scene with your setup Scrappy;)
  6. I am going to watch my first 3D movie at home tonight. World War Z. Pretty excited

    dual subs

I have used a y splitter for dual subs in the past. Works perfect.
  8. I was interested until I read that the blue light is actually the same plasma material as a light saber. I would be too afraid to adjust the bass or the volume. I need all my fingers, otherwise PayPal would be already in transit to your account. GLWS!
  9. Since you posted this in the HT section, I will agree with the others. Want receiver and sub are you currently using. If you are looking to get a little more performance out of your system, receiver and especially subwoofer/subwoofers can make a huge difference. You already have a top performing set of speakers, keep them.
  10. I remember that when I set up my SC-35 a couple years ago, I had to go into settings and set my mains to "small". When they were set to "large" I barely noticed my dual subs at all. This is part of the reason I decided to do with the Denon X4000, I really wanted to try out the Audyssey Platnium MultEQ XT32. I am sure I will return to Pioneer again as I feel ther make the best AVR's, just wanted to try a different room corrections. I really wasn't impressed with the HK AVR3700's room correction, the only reason I got rid of it.
  11. I forgot to say what it is. Earthquake Supernova MKIV-12. I am actually blown away by the performance of this sub, it is a little monster.
  12. Old thread but... Just checked CL last night before bed and ran across this little beast for $200:
  13. I will give Best Buy a shot to match Amazon. If they don't price match, I will just order from Amazon. Not a big deal to me. My last two pioneer receivers worked flawlessly. Don't worry about my bubble, it has been burst many times:)
  14. Are you still happy with your SC-72 purchase? I have pretty much talked myself into it, especially now that you mentioned Amazon's price. How about a little mini review?
  15. I actually owned the SC35. The best receiver I have ever owned, just got the "upgrade" bug and got rid of it. I went into a Best Buy (I know but I was on my lunch break right next to the big blue and yellow shop) to look at the Denon X4000 and the Pioneer Elite SC-75 but they couldn't get the wall to work. I really wanted to hear them side by side, oh well. I will probably just get the SC-72 or SC-75 and hold off on separates until I have a dedicated theater room.
  16. You are correct. After my 5 hour OCD read-a-thon last night, looks like the UMC-200 isn't the right choice for me either. I might just up my budget and get back into another Pioneer Elite Receiver. That Sherwood AVR for $600 also looks pretty interesting. I have officially confused myself AGAIN AVR shopping.
  17. Looks like I have made my decision. I think I am going to order the Emotiva UMC-200. I will probably pick up a XPA-3 and use my UPA-200 for the surounds. Sound like a solid plan? The UMC-200 has good reviews and is on sale right now for $600.
  18. Dear god! $6,500 is a little over what I want to spend. Haha
  19. That Anthem AVM 50V looks like a nice unit and there is a Anthem dealer about 20 miles away. Actually that Sherwood R-972 with Trinnov Optimizer looks like a great deal also, just a little worried about it's release date of 2010. I know AVR's have changed quite a bit the last three years so I wonder what it is "missing" compared to today's receivers?
  20. You are always super helpful Youth. Thanks for your response man
  21. Yeah, I want to buy a future proof amp and replace the AVR or pre/pro in a year or two.
  22. I would like to keep it around $500. I don't care if it is new or refurbished but I do want a warranty. I really don't care if it it classified as a preamp/processor or a AVR, I really just want to buy a solid AMP that is future proof and have the best sound quality and video quality possible within my budget. Like I said, I will probably replace it within a year or two.
  23. Hey guys. Well I love my new HK AVR-3700 but I have decided that I want to get back into seperate amps. What new AVR you'll you guys reccommend that has all of the bells and whistles minus HDMI 2.0 and has pre outs? I have been thinking about the Emotiva UMC-1 but I would like your opinions. Not really sure on budget but I would like to keep it cheap as possible since I will probably replace it in a couple of years anyway when HDMI 2.0 gets more reasonable. Thanks guys!
  24. That is a smokin' deal. Thanks for sharing!
  25. Most modern "top shelf" amps have plenty of power for 95% of the people out there. I have had multiple AVR's and amps in the past, sometimes I didn't even notice a difference when I added a more powerful amplifier to my system. I like running a separate 2 channel amp for my mains and let the AVR run the 5 remaining speakers. The only reason I do this is because I generally crank up the volume when I am listening to music. My system is ever changing though and I will probably be adding a three channel to drive all three fronts, but I am a bit crazy. Basically, buy as much AVR as possible and see if you need more "oomph", only you can answer the questions you are answering. It's a fun learning experience though. Enjoy!
