  1. My A4L Onkyo 3008 is a refurb from them. Zero issues. Closing in on a year now.
  2. Awesome! Good luck during your wait. Post some pictures when you get them up and running. Welcome to the forum!!
  3. Do you have a budget limit in mind? I built mine over time as I could afford them and have saved myself the pains of the upgrade bug and money that comes with it. My progression was front 3, sub, then surrounds. What you've mentioned would def last awhile. Craigslist is a great place to find good deals. Check out the forums garage sale section for other used gear. For new gear, try Acousticsounddesign.com. Browse the site to get an idea of what you want then call and talk to MIKE for the best price. He always does a better deal over the phone. Summary: 3 questions. How much is your budget? Where are you located? What is your listening preference? (ie 60% movie 20% game 20% music etc)
  4. I don't think timbre matching applies to surround speakers. At least not in reference to the front three. Maybe if you had 7.1 you'd want the rear 4 timbre matched as something moved from back left to back right.
  5. Thanks Youth! I do know how to do custom white balance but was more caught up in playing with the lens and overlooked that. What do you use for post image processing?
  6. <spellcheck off> Eliptical over stationary bike everytime. You'll burn way more calories with an eliptical than the other. We have a golds gym close and it has a MOVIE cardio room. Dimly lit with treadmills, elipticals, stationary bikes, stairstepers, row machines gallor. I totally watched Iron Man 2 all the way through while getting lost on the eliptical. <spellcheck on>
  7. So, I ordered 3 HDMI cables recently for like $20 plus shipping. I grabbed the 28AWG High Speed HDMI Cables with Ferrite Cores. Got a 6ft in white for hooking up the iPad to the AVR and 2 spare black 8ftrs. (Since I was ordering, might as well) 6ft was $3.50 ea 8ft was $4.28 ea For the record, I can't tell a lic of difference in sound or video quality. Seems like a great cable to me!! PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN: (Note, playing with my "new-to-me" Canon EF 50mm 1.8 that I got of CL for $75[Y]) #1 Box #2 All 3 cables package outta the box #3 Outta the packaging and protected well #4 1st Connector #5 Both connectors exposed #6 Take a look at the heavy cable (It's more durably built than the cheapest $19.99 cable you can find in the store and more so than some $40.00 ones) #7 & #8 Oh and I forgot, they put lil plastic caps on the ends too. (Note: #8 the have MONOPRICE imprinted on the cable)
  8. I don't think it's a videophile issue, it's 110"'s!!!!!!!!!! TV for mundain use, 110" for movies and sports. Saves bulb hours.
  9. So Budman, have you tried integrating the RSW-15 and the SVS PB-13 Ultra into your HT setup? I'm curious how they might blend. My hopes are high If I ever get a dedicated room, I may be doing exactly that since I already have the RSW-15.
  10. Use monoprice.com for wires. Great prices and great quality. For long runs to your surrounds, 12ga wire would be optimal but 14ga can be a compromise. Use in-wall speaker wire. Different insulation and designed to meet coding requirements. General guide for side surrounds is bottom of the speaker at ear height when sitting in your primary listening position. Also a rough 2ft behind your LP.
  11. Many people use bookshelves as surrounds so by switching, I'm not sure what you mean. A bookshelf is more directional than the RS-62 series and smaller of that series. These angle the sound to fill a room more than give a direct surround experience. IOW, harder to detect what speaker the sound came from, just that it came from over there.
  12. Cherry 63's are just sexy. Awesome job!
  13. RW-12d is at $329 again from newegg! http://community.klipsch.com/forums/p/157957/1733770.aspx#1733770
  14. If you haven't yet, call emotivas tech support. I've heard great things about their team. Might be able to point you in a different direction.
  15. Yes it does. Mines turned off. I used direct for awhile, now I'm back to stereo for most of my listening.
  16. I don't have this problem with my 3008. TV listening is usually -20 to -30 db on the dial. You can change the menu to read in db. Movies is around -16. Some of the EQ settings will achieve a muting effect. Say listening to Stereo vs Direct. Also, hope youve run Audyssey. It will set the levels at your primary listening position.
  17. So, close to enough cash for a new Emotiva XPA-2 for my system. I want to beef up the RF-7s and let the AVR handle the others. Here's the problem, I'm willing to go diff than Emotiva if I can find a good one on CL. Not sure what other amps to look for. So here is what I search for starting in San Antonio. Any other suggestions? Emotiva Rotel Adcom Marantz Recently saw a pioneer elite M-90 that caught my eye.
  18. What about using one door instead of two? Or do like me, have to bring them out for movies and put them up day-to-day. Compromises =+)
  19. No reason. Subs can run from $199 to $3K. Don't limit yourself to Klipsch. Lots of options.
  20. The RW-12d would be a sugg from the Klipsch line. Occasionally it drops in price on newegg to under $350. Like $329! Forum members use the alert section in the garage sale forum to let folks know.
  21. Sweet! Love where you are going with it!
  22. There are some Cornwalls in your area on CL for $650. (if that falls through)
  23. Dude the ref system isn't bad, avg, or just ok. It's outstanding! Don't mistake that. I am not disappointed or left wanting. Only dreaming... If you go reference, spend the left over cash (from a would-be heritage purchase) on two outstanding subwoofers! That extra dynamic that an outstanding sub can bring at or below 20hz can only be felt.
  24. Just remember your experience with Mike over the phone. Dude is genuine and Klipsch wouldn't authorize him if he treated there customers like garbage. That's why several of us pointed you there. Only problem I had with the transaction was my lack of patience. FLAWLESS transaction and amazing price that beats everyone. That's why I and others pointed you there. Ignore the couple bad reviews as margine of error. Which is slim to none...
  25. I own a Ref theater and have heard a Heritage theater with khorns. For me I'd love to go all heritage with subs like psg suggested, but compromises always abound. If it was available to me, I'd do it in an instance. Probably 3 Jubscalas up front. I love my Lascallas! Wife doesn't but she likes the ref look. So, there I am.
